No, sorry, FIRST doesn't have their own monetary system.

Anyway, you know how people are always writing things on dollar bills, I got an idea today from it.
Just for fun, FIRSTers should start writing their team number on dollar bills. It would be fun to recieve a dollar bill as change and have 2 or three team numbers on them. It also will show you the different regions the money has been in.
So, if you want, write your team number in the upper left hand corner of the front (face) of dollar bills.

I dont think that writing in ball point pen at most 4 digits in a corner would be considered an attempt to deface money to the point where it is no longer legal tender.

Regardless of that, noone is going to get caught for having a bill with writing on it. Even if you did, they can't prove you did it. I get money with marker and stuff on it all the time.

I'm not saying you should go write on money. Use your own judgement, not mine :)

It's legal to mark money--just as long as you don't make it unfit for reissue.

Although given the volume of money in our country today and the relatively small number of FIRST teams, I highly doubt that any team would be able to find another team's bills outside of FIRST-heavy events...namely regionals and the championship. But then at the championship, any place much away from the Georgia Dome would have a significantly lower probability of sending out FIRST money, since it'd get heavier civilian (for lack of a better term) traffic.

But that's just my speculation...YMMV.

Uhm, in the order they appear...
-Desecrating our money supply would not topple the economy--the BEP can always print more money. Counterfeiting would do the trick, however, since we're on a fiat money system.
-I recall the original idea as teams writing their number on the bills. Unless Dean Kamen has said "Team 1293 is t3h h4x0r," then I fail to see how that's one of his messages. (And if he did say that--shoot, even if he said anyone is t3h h4x0r--I'd love to hear a soundbyte.)
-Treason, defined by Article 3, Section 3, Clause 1 of the US Constitution:

Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort. No Person shall be convicted of Treason unless on the Testimony of two Witnesses to the same overt Act, or on Confession in open Court.

Writing one to four numbers on money doesn't even come close to that definition. And even then, it wouldn't cover the canadian/international teams!

The only thing I'm not sure of is how would you know for instance that "237" written on the bill is in reference to the FIRST team and not "237" meaning something else without some other reference to FIRST on the bill?

we would have to come up with some signal to indicate that it is in reference to FIRST. how about drawing the FIRST logo above the number?

another thought... if we get enough people to start doing this, not only would it be cool to see several team #s on one bill, but it may spark interest and media coverage for FIRST. i can just imagine the article in the New York Times... "Been noticing numbers on your money with a triangle, circle, and square logo above them? This is the signature of people involved in a robotics competition known as FIRST. Whoa, nelly! Lemme see if I can find my quote...

And I should also point out that the US Government allows other currencies to be created, as long as there are taxes paid on it and yadda yadda yadda. (Don't know which law it is, though.) Whether that fits your shadow currency thing is unknown, but it could be done legally.

One question...would this just be on ones, or would it be for all forms of paper currency? Also, who is going to host the where's george section of Chief Delphi? I'm not experience with php/mysql, so I know that I can't do it...

I thought about this when I first had the idea. I didn't do it, incase someone (government, certain people) does get angry about it. If the logo is on the bill, it is an obvious tie to FIRST. If it's just a number, it's harder to tie it back to FIRST.
I wanted to keep FIRST, as an orginization, out of it since they're not doing it.
As long as everyone does it in the same place (upper left corner on the face) then we should be able to know what it signifies.

Bean reading Dan Brown's "Angels and Demons" have you? If so, you got your facts wrong. If not, read it to get your facts straight. The current US currency is the one with the Illuminati symbol (the pyramid with the shining eye above it) and the Illuminati were not "Satanic" by what we would call them now. And, of course, the Latin below the Illuminati symbol on the US currency means New Secular Order. And a few dollar bills with numbers written on them are not going to destabilize the American economy, and it is not the printing of fake money or "shadow currency". You really do need to get your facts straight.

And if SS and Treasurey Department are conspiring with a few high schoolers to write 3 or 4 digits on a peice of paper, then US currency is being spent on the wrong things anyways.

I do not hold a grudge against your team. I would not instruct whatever teams I help in the future to blackball your team just because of your comments here on CD. I realize that they have no control over what you say.

It’s obvious that you and I do not share the same political views. I respect your right to have your opinions. I hope you eventually learn to respect others’ opinions, as well. It’ll make you a happier person in general, and show other people that you’re deserving of their respect as a person. Tolerance and respect are characteristics which make people and the world a better place. On these forums we have had many discussions of controversial issues (“Should We Bomb/Strike Iraq,” “Democrat / Republican,” etc.) with almost all opinions known to mankind represented in one form or another. I know that you’re scared of repercussions for your team because of your opinions and posts on CD… It’s very rare that teams are actually discriminated against because of what someone’s personal beliefs are. In fact, in my almost 6 years of FIRST participation, I’ve only heard of this once. If your team is blacklisted by others because of one member’s outspoken political/etc. opinions then this only speaks poorly of the team, referee, judge, etc. doing the discriminating. You shouldn’t fear this. You shouldn’t be paranoid.

Please join us with an identity. It is possible to move past this whole “red dot” thing and make friends and acquaintances on these boards. I’ve met many people on these forums that I have tons and tons of respect for, but do not agree with when it comes to where I think FIRST should go, or politics, or religion. It’s possible to make friends without agreeing on everything. Given the things I’ve read about you, I think there are massive quantities of users on these boards who share your interests and your sociopolitical beliefs. Give it a chance. Although I would suggest that you go back to your old account, first ;). Can we (the entire CD community, all sides of this) please burry this hatchet and move onto more civil conversations on both controversial and plain topics?

I also happened to stumble across SilenceNoMore's identity thanks to a few friends that like to do their research and are keen in noticing small clues.

Something that we could do at the Where's George site is to put your team number in the comments box when you come across a bill. That way you don't write on the bill, and it lasts forever.(until the site goes down)

when a person recieves a bill that has already been numbered by their team, they should just put a check mark to the right of their number. everybody leave a little space to the right of other numbers when you put yours and this will work.

wouldn't it be great if one day dean kamen or dave lavery got a bill from change one day that was entirely covered in FIRST team numbers? could you imagine how that would feel for them? :)

1) Starting June 1st we take all the money we have we and write our team number on them. I am on Team 25, so I write T25 on the top left corner of the note.

2) Everytime you get another team's number, you put a check mark next to it.

3) We do not damage the notes or such things (Gracious professionalism:) ) and keeping the law in mind...

4) You either collect, or just let go of notes, but keep a record. This is an excellent way to see how money circulates around the country. It would be nice to see the west coast teams get some east coasts teams money

Go spread the word.. if this works out right, by the end of next year.. even if all the participants on ChiefDelphi has gotten atleast one teams note, its a great accomplisment.

Whatever you do, do not cause damage to the money... we're having fun, but we also have to keep other things in mind. Let the fun begin :)

I dont think its a good idea, just because we dont want to get FIRST into any trouble with the US Government or something.. I dont know how possible it is, but to stay on the safe side.. I think T25 or something is good enough.. as long as we spread the word...
