It was a great match, the crowd went wild, but alas a dangling string, match won by Team 847 "PHRED" allied with Team 254 "Cheesy Poofs". 120 (almost 170) to 65. Newton Division
I remember seeing this match. It seemed a bit unfair at the time that it caused the hang to not count. Oh well, a great match none the less.

Sorry about that guys but we had to get up there and hang.....We didnt know about the string until after the matchh ended. It was one of the best matches i've seen in a while even though it was sort of a blow out.

It was a great match! The team talked about the match last night at the team meeting and used it (the broken string) as a learning moment for design improvments. While the design worked, what else did we need to think about. Hmmm, other factors, how about other robots trying to hang, other objects moving around in the match, etc. Learning and going forward is of great value.

That is a great point. Eventhough this unfortunate occurance didn't have a positive result in the match; it does give other teams an oppertunity to learn from it. :)

Thanks, for the words. Team 847 "PHRED" is already thinking about better ways to hang for the summer matches. Ways to look at the design from more than one point of view. How to accomplish the task, how to design for graceful failure, "broken string", what would be the possible problems with the design. So far, we have only been thinking about getting the task done.
