Recently one of our sponsors, Givaudan, said that they would create our own fragrance. They would produce it and put it in vials, for us to hand out at our vaious regionals. My question is: what would you most like to see or smell, as our fragrance?

:ROTFL:

I dunno about "Eau de Pits" - it can get pretty rank in there....

How about the sent of new metal? :D

Seriously - I'd like to see er-um smell the sent of fresh engine oil. I dunno why - there is just something that I like about the smell of fresh engine oil...

:)

However tempting the smell of WD-40 would be...I have to go w/ Cinnabons or Krispy Kremes.

How about Ode Du drill motor

I choose "other". I think you should have a "Mountain Dew" fragrance. :D
(Although robot wise I think you should have "Burnt Bosch". No smell reminds me more of the robot than a burnt or burning drill motor! :yikes: )

Surgical tubing! Or Victors. =D

How about that lovely smell of ozone (well probably some by product of it, or maybe even the lack of smell created by it) that electric motors make when they arc. Especiall the Fisher Price.

Tap Magic!!I second that. Tap magic is awesome. Or, just the smell of a machine shop in general.

Or another really great smell is in the waiting line for the ET ride at Universal Studios in Hollywood. I can't describe it, you would have to smell it for yourself.

Or, as Andy Rooney (sp?) once said, "the best smell to have, is no smell at all"

Your thread title made me think it was going to be about a French poem about the angel of death. You may have already figured it out from Mark and Matt's posts, but I think you meant Eau de M.O.R.T. (It's possible you intended Eau du M.O.R.T. which translates to Essence of the M.O.R.T., but I think more likely you wanted just Essence of M.O.R.T.)

(Just earning my grammar curmudgeon title. ;))

How about the smell of freshly cut lumber? I volunteer to help build the playing field every year just because of that smell.

My job is as a "descriptive analyst" aka, a taste tester. Most tastes are actually smells and there are definite aromas I associate with our team and the competitions.

This has some real potential to be fun. Just please make sure they make these so the smells stay mostly in the vials. How about one to go with your posh cart? The smell of heavy metal...
What's up with the green grass choice? One of your mentors is from where I live, where the smell is green grass AND cows. :)

I'd second that.... it would be wonderful to spray my apartment when I get lonely far away at school, and miss those late nights in the wood shop building 'bots. :D

du is a contraction of "de le", so using it assumes MORT is male :)

Haha, yes. That's my contribution to Chief Delphi for the day.

(Lest anyone think that Jessica was correcting me, I want to let everyone know that I know that. :) It just wasn't germane to my point. I made the assumption too, that M.O.R.T. is male.)

Hmm...It should definitely relate to first and robotics in someway. How about essence of magic smoke? Of the ones already suggested, I'm all for tap magic (mmm) and dew (double mmm). And of course, let's not exclude freshly cut grass.

how bout gasoline. that is the greatest smell in the world.
And it might also be the worst idea for cologne. come on what girl would say that the gasoline smell of your cologne was good.

I'll have to second that...though I think that this scent would enrage some people when it opens up memories of those lovely fisher price motors.

Let me make a quick list of some of the possiblities:
- WD-40 (very practical)
- Burning Drill Motors (very realistic)
- Hoppes #9 (it should already be a cologne)
- fresh cut lumber (*drool*)
- Tap Magic (also very practical)
- Pizza (could draw unwanted crowds in pits)
- Krispy Kremes (same problem as pizza)
- duct tape (might cause the inspectors to wonder)

How about Ode Du drill motor
I agree there is nothing like the smell of burning drill motors in the heat of battle. LOL

How about instead of increasing the rank smell a FIRST you go to a department store, buy some decent perfume and then become the Lady's man at the competitions

Kinda ironic that Nastay is the only one opposing the nasty smell of our competitions
