View Full Version : Shut down Code Repository?

Since there has been no code posting to the repository for some time. I will be shutting it down if nobody wants to use it. If shutdown, the content will still be there, but it will be archived and opened again only when it needs to be used.

Anybody wants to use it?

Whatever your answer to the poll, provide an explanation so I can determine whether to keep it or not.

don't! i think it has some excellent potential. I plan on contributing a very large chunk of stuff (or maybe many small chunks, whatever) as soon as i finish it and actually test it sometime this summer. You have got to give it time to get off its feet.

and look, 2/2 people agree with me!

I think you should keep it. I'm curently working on some projects that I will post in the repository, I just need to finish and test it.

No! You'll Kill Yourself!

Really. Don't. I'll post the team code this weekend.

Speaking of the repository, here is a feature im sure everyone would appreciate: A way to dl the database and easily access it without internet access. Something like a dynamically generated html (more like a set of htmls...), pdf, doc or excel that contains the all the info the web based db has; user who posted, dates, comments, revisions, etc...

I think I can do that.

I'm thinking of going with a PDF document and XML document "export" feature. I've started working on the PDF one. The XML should be easy.

And one more thing i forgot to mention, its important that the exported file has lots of indexing. There is so much content that is so hard to access.... (i mean in life, in general, not your repository..)

Whether intentional or not, you just spurred quite a few submissions. Social Engineering, or naivete? ;)

And I have one suggestion if you keep the repository up (please do). YOu should have a section devoted to the entire robot programs, just with zip files of the projects that teams use. This way we can see more of the full aspect of programs.

good idea, i was wondering how to handle all the code i want to contribute. Then i code take the important/innovative/whatever parts and put them in as snippets in Robot Alogirthms or wherever appropriate.

The main reason I made the suggestion, beyond just seeing how it all fits together, is that in some cases programs will require functions in other places, or fast and slow loop code, or included files, etc.
