Creating Videos

Recently, I've decided to take on a new project in the music field, making videos. So, I come here to ask every if they have any resources on creating videos using Windows Movie Maker 2. If so, please post them here or something. Thanks.

I'm not really familiar with Windows Movie Maker 2, but I have used the original and didn't like it at all. I suppose if you are really skilled, you can make some good stuff but myself, I prefer Adobe Premiere.

I've read it's a pretty good improvement from WMM 1 though.

My wife is using Ulead Studio Version 7 to make next years recruiting video for the team.

Is the WMM that comes with XP Pro version 2? Also, you may want to look into Avid Express educational version (I think it's called something like that) It is significantly less expensive than Premiere, and although it has less features than Premiere, it has more than WMM. It's pretty easy to use too.

Windows Movie Maker 2 is much easier then the first version adn its A lot better then the first one....it still pretty basic.

Check the microsoft site and you can dl sound effects, title and exit videos and other goodies for it....

also by going to the tools menu you can create title screens, credits and on video text and add transitions. its actually pretty self explanitory and its something you can figure out by playing around with it for about 10 minutes...

I use Vegas 4.0 by sonic foundry, lots of people debate whether or not its better than Adobe Premier. I like it more, a little easier to use. Iv also used Ulead Video Studio back in the day, its good enough for most people.

Ditto... Sony just (I think) bought them and have released version 5. However, I just got my hands on a copy of 4. So that is what I am migrating to.

Tho windows movie maker, may be pretty basic, It could still be more than enough than you need for movies, especially music videos. Its all about getting creative with your shots, and knowing what to use. If you could get your hands on a mac, Imovie 4 is a GREAT option for things like this, especially if you can incorporate garage band mastering and recording into the video. I've seen some SUPERB videos made in Imovie. But for special effects, such as green screen and the cropping, you'll need something more powerful, depends on how into things you want to get. Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere and the like are quite good in these areas and are pretty simple to use, once you figure out.

But my advice to you is, don't worry too much about the software your using, get more creative with the camera itself, the better you get with it, and sound recording, the better your movies will turn out. The special effects are cool and awesome to do when you get better, but its not the place to start.

This is great advice, when i started making movies i didnt edit them, i would just make really awesome shots and use the cameras built in ways to cut or fade. Unless you have good shots you cant make a good movie.

I use Roxio Videowave 7. It's a big improvment over 5. Also, it comes with roxio easy media creator, which is about $70 on sale.

I use pinnacle studio 9, it auctually has a template for making music vids, but I havent used it so Im not sure what kind of features it has. I used to use WMM2, its good, but you cant do much precise work on it, but its an awesome vid editor for free.
