I have 2 invites right now (I believe 1 is claimed). I would love to give someone in the CD community an account, but I believe in gmailswap too - so email (in signature) me with your best offer for a gmail account. I think I'm good for now since Yahoo just graciously bumped their e-mail limits up to 100mb. I went from being at 98% of my e-mail limit to only 6% now.. lol

From what I've seen, it's the longer users who get more invites, but wait a day or two, from what I've heard from others, that's when the invites pop up.

I just want to say I got my account (thanks again JosephM) and as soon as I get invites I'll send them out. So those of you who don't have one yet don't give up and keep posting here and I or someone else will get to you. :)

Right now I'm still keeping my Hotmail account along with my new Gmail but if anyone is hesitant on dropping thier old email account cold turkey because they're afraid people won't be able to contact them until everyone knows thier new email you might be interested in Return Path (http://www.returnpath.net/). I have had Return Path since I dropped my dial-up account 4 years ago when I switched to broadband. I was unable to save my dial-up email address because it was specific to my dial-up provider, SNET. I got my Hotmail account when I got broadband and signed my SNET dial-up address to Return Path and that way if I was unable to get the word out to people about my new email address in time I didn't have to worry about losing contact with them.

I'm having some problems. I get to the login page, after I put in my username and pass it gives me an action canceled page.
Plus it seems to not like Opera, but I'm gonna try to use it anyway. I'll be a pioneer!

I also haven't been able to access Gmail all day. I keep getting a message saying the server has encountered a problem and try again in 30 seconds. Here it is several hours later and still the same message. The computer I'm on now has 2000 Pro and IE6 and all the current service packs/updates. Well, at least I still have my Hotmail account on my other computer.


Maybe we crashed their server with all the invites we've been giving out here. :yikes:

Also, I heard that invites are given out based on usage, not time. So just e-mail like crazy and you might get some more.

Invites have slowed. Gmail releases invites when they can support more people. So look for more invites in a while.

You're not alone. I was wondering the same thing. I haven't gotten any invites for almost a month now. I have been using the account so it's not like it's dormant. I'm wondering what Google is up to. As far as I know Gmail hasn't gone public yet. The one thing I thought of is that they wanted to give out so many accounts to see how the service is and any possible bugs before fully releasing Gmail. We may be thier "guinea pigs".

It's altogether possible that it is a potential problem for their email server as well. Just something to keep in mind, someone may have more info.

Yes, there was a worm going around that targeted Google, Lycos, Yahoo and some of their properties, but I "think" it is long gone... Search for "google worm" for more info on it...
