Is it against the rules to sell the parts of your robot on ebay? Becuase one team is selling the robot controller and operator interface on there. this may be a good fundraser if it is legal, and if anyone buys the stuff. But then it may come back and bite you in the butt when you need that part!

AFAIK, it's legal. The kit of parts was included in the $5000 fee you paid, so it sure as heck better be yours.
are you sure that its a team? i'm pretty sure that the general public can purchase the OI and robot controller.
Yes, the purchace of such equipment is open to the public (it is often used for battle bots and things of the like). And that is a really, really good price!!

I've seen the robot controllers and the OIs on Ebay before. I haven't seen anything else from the KOP though.

Ohhh yeah, we sold a ton of FIRST equipment this year on EBAY. Including most of the old RC/OI's (4) and the Victor 883's (~15-20). The Victor 883's go for about 80-100 each. Worried about needing it again?? Since the new processor and Victor 884's we dumped it all and bought new tools.

That is a pretty good price, although I think it's one of the old ones.
I know it's legal to sell stuff on ebay. Our team was considering doing that this year. I have a feeling though we're going to see a lot of old controllers and OI's...considering a lot of teams probably have lots of extra they have no use for.

Just remember to watch for a lone OI. I remember a while back a team had their's stolen.

And apparently 25 had some kind of problem. I'd like to keep an extra just in case I make that one wiring mistake that melts the OI. :yikes:

whoa....what team is selling that?....i would take a bet that that is a decient price for a full feild....the allumium alone to build that is costly plus the manufacturing time...

I couldv'e sworn I've seen almost the same picture(s) right here on CD awhile back. I remember a photo on here taken in a warehouse with all office furniture and divided walls in the background. The photos were almost if not the same background but the field was totally set up. I started looking in the picture galleries but haven't finished, I have to leave for work shortly but if I do find the CD photo I'll post a link to it. I also don't remember which team had the field set up or took the photo.

It's not the FIRST model, rather it's the model that IFI Robotics sells to other robot builders, namely combat. But it has nearly the same functionality, and an outrageous price.
By looking at the photos it seems to be Wildstangs practice space. They are located in one of Motorola's storage buildings but what i dont get is that the seller is "located" in Hamtramck, Mi. which mapquest says is over 5 hours from 111's home of Wheeling, Il. So i doubt this is 111's field. Hm to bad we dont know whos selling this item yet.

Hamtramck, MI is the home of Team 123 (http://home.twmi.rr.com/team123/). Whether it's their field or not is subject to debate, because that town is in the Detroit area, and the ebay user might live in Hamtrack but be on another team.
Anyone from 123 that wants to clear this up?
I love when they call it US FIRST.... :D

And it ends in just over 3 and a half hours. Too bad it;s $40 shipping to the US but still. I would buy it in an instant but then there's the issue of what to do with it.

Nope, it's not ours. There's no aluminum in ours (it's made of wood & steel pipe).
Besides, why would we want to sell our field? :)

I wasn't until I read Dez250's post that I remembered Wildstang. The photo I remember is this (http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/showthread.php?t=26278). But like Dave mentioned the Ebay one isn't thiers. The thing to remember is that the field may not be in the same location the seller is although I'm sure they won't be as much as 5 hours apart but they could be storing it in a surrounding town.
Out of curiosity does anyone know what FIRST does with the fields after the season is over with. I don't know how many but I do know there was more than one traveling the country and something has to become of these fields when they're no longer needed.

I've been extremely curious about the wareabouts of that field too. Who would have one?..could it be an old field from FIRST?...because they do replace them every couple of years.
The info on the field iis oddly un-descriptive though. Not too much information except what it is....and if you weren't in FIRST reading that wouldn't do too much good.

Yeah--I'll bet any basketball hoops FIRST has in their offices have been modified for 13" balls. :D

No, they use the 30" balls. :D
Could this be a sign the FIRST is going to be changing fields next year?
I thought FIRST stored some fields in Michigan. But FIRST does store most of the fields at 200 Bedford Street in Manch.

I have a really big doubt this is an offical first field because first has kept the same size field for the past 4 years, which is this size field border and if you remember the players stations have all the added peices of diamond plate aluminum cause of the changes with delivery systems over the past few years. This field end looks pristine and it doesnt have the delivery system for this year. My guess would be its from an ex-sponsor of a team in Michigan somewheres that cut sponsorship this year or may have had the previous sponsored team go under in the past 2 years and thus the sponsor has been hanging onto since then and is now trying to get rid of it cheap...
But those are just my thoughts.

I wouldn't think that FIRST would really change the field, we obviously wouldn't get any smaller, and, at least at some venues, there isn't much more space for a larger field.

Well, it might be interesting to see the field get a little shorter. Bring the drivers' stations in a few feet on FIRST Frenzy and you've got a whole new game. It'd probably be more physical, since you're looking at the same robots taking a smaller space.
Same idea for a wider/longer platform.

If you look closely at them, you'll notice that the Isaac 16's control board is laid out differently than the one we received before the 2003 season (2 9-pin D-sub connectors instead of 1, different components), and the Isaac 32 is labelled differently (it doesn't say "FRC" on it). While they are probably very similar, you'd need to contact IFI to determine if there are any important differences.
And the price is in US dollars--but as it stands, it still seems like a good deal.

About the carpets- i believe FIRST buys new carpets every year- for example last year the Philadelphia Regional at Drexel gave us their carpet (and we put it to good use).. About the fields, FIRST reuses the driver stations for sure, because if I recall correctly there were ball chutes in the driver station during years when robots weren't supposed to push balls underneath..
