East Coast Drivers Union

This is for any team's current or former drivers.

We are interested in making this Union to get all the drivers together so that they know each other and will be able to help each other out in times of need. We also just want to meet up and help make new friends across the eastern seaboard.
We also stand for the fair treatment of drivers among their respected teams... :D
We also will help break in new drivers and teach them some unwritten rules of the FIRST world.
Mainly like i said, we are about making friends and helping other teams.

I go to comp and don't have time to talk with the drivers. So this give the drivers a chance to talk about first or driving skills or anything. FIRST is great to meet new people from different place. I hope we can learn alot from each other and make the spirit of FIRST work with this union of drivers. Just IM or message us on delphi and we can talk in a chat room on aol instant message thanks.

As the other two guys said, this is a GREAT opportunity for drivers to talk to eachother and learn some new tricks of the trade. This union should enforce the whole idea of sportsmanship and gracious professionalism, because in one way or another we will all be helping eachother and meeting new people.

Also, another reason is that teams should know each other personally, because developing friendship is important. Sometimes on the field mishaps happen, and friends generally dont take it seriously, so I feel its a good idea to be good friends with drives you play with and against. Moreover, meeting people is always good:D

I think this is a wonderful opportunity to network drivers - current and retired. :) I know myself, I regret not being in touch with a lot of people I spent so many years on the floor with. Many great people from 25 and 103, along with a few others I will always remember working with through many battles. This is a great opportunity, and I look forward to being able to help any of the new drivers that I may be able to pass on some "wisdom" too. :]

I know a lot of teams that dont like certain teams for the way their driver drives or they just may not like him. This is just a fact, even though people dont want to admit or accept it, it will always be there. I think that with this little union, teams will start getting past those petty quarrels, and start having more fun out their on the field, in the pits, and in the stands. By making friends with each other, no grudges will be held and everyone will be having fun. And instead of sitting there and pouting after a loss, they will start to cheer for them. I really do think, if more and more people start to join this, teams will start to forget about past problems and look forward to the great things they can accomplish together.

schweet. Sounds good to me. Its good to have just the east coast in this. The old animators club tried doing chats, but Californians kept complaining the chats were too early, while we complained they were too late. ::shrugs:: just couldn't win i guess.

Well I am from Mississippi so thats a ? on my eligibility but i do think this is an awesome idea. I know i enjoy every chance i get to talk to other drivers, tell stories, and share my experiences while learning from others. At competition it is you are either my friend or foe, you handle this and I will handle this and we really dont get to talk to each other beyond the 1/2 minute of strategy time before the match.

Thats close enough to the East, so why not. I guess for a rule of thumb now, in the south we will go up to Mississippi, then just around and up the coast, until West Virginia, then the rest of the states Northeast of that are in. Thats 19 states, so its not too big and doesnt stretch out too far. Or if you attend any East Coast regionals.

Come on all you people that were at Battlecry, youve had time to rest by now...or not, but still. 6 states, 9 teams, 13 members, not bad at all. But over 13 more states, countless number of teams, and soo many people to cover still, so lets keep em coming. And if you have any suggestions for anything, just start posting.

Well, mainly we want to keep it on the east coast so we will be able to meet at regionals and all, and it would be easy for us to talk at the right hours.

But, if you plan on coming to eastern regionals next year, then im sure we can make a spot for you. If not then that kind of sux. We will let you come in and talk during our little meetings online though, always cool to have some friendly people in there.

Better yet an outside panel. Keeping the voting within the ECDU raises all sorts of eyebrows.

Vote on the panel---obviously, if the company donating the money wanted to have a representative, they would be encouraged and more than welcomed. Otherwise, neutral FIRST Volunteers, experienced mentors, etc, etc. These people are wiser and less prone to play favorites, in most cases.

This union should be a great thing for the freshman out there that want to driver or that are new at the stick like myself. by new driver i mean have only drove in one or two comps. hopefully we can learn a thing or two from the good drivers of FIRST.

we take anyone on the drive team. we have a range of copilots or human players, drivers and former drivers. this is so that the former and older drivers can work and teach the new drivers the ropes and how to drive better. but mostly we just like to have fun.

this is going great so far as of now we have about 28 teams of driver current and former drivers and from these 28 teams there is about 40 members which i think is great. it is up to you. i feel we have done nothing with the ECDU. i feel that this union was just to make friends and get a bunch of people together from the East coast that drive robots. so if you guys want a meeting take it over and get it done. start a thread and make sure you have a meeting. but the ECDU is just a union to have fun and drive.
