View Full Version : How do I...?

I've officially been away from too long. I've totally forgotten how to use CD. I need help (yes, I could ask Matt Leese or Joe Ross these things, seeing as we all live nearby one another, but they would just make fun of me :( ).

1. How do I change the photo on my profile?

2. Is there any easy way to see all of the forums at once (like in the good 'ole days?)?

3. What the heck is reputation? I'm confused!

Thanks in advance to all who reply.

(Yes, I am at work writing this. But, hey, it's almost lunch! *waves hello to her supervisor, Matt Driggs, who may be reading this*)

To change your photo you go to user cp, then on the side you go to edit Avatar, then you can pick from the Pre-defined avatars or upload your own.

Upload a picture to the Who Am I gallery (http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/pictures.php?s=&galleryid=1).

2. Is there any easy way to see all of the forums at once (like in the good 'ole days?)?

Yes. Click the ChiefDelphi logo in the upper left. (goes to here (http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/index.php?))

3. What the heck is reputation? I'm confused!

(Yes, I am at work writing this. But, hey, it's almost lunch! *waves hello to her supervisor, Matt Driggs, who may be reading this*)1. Click on the "Photo Galleries" (http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/pictures.php?) link at the top of the page. Then click the "Upload a Picture" (http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/pictures.php?action=uploadform&perrow=10&trows=10&sort=date&quiet=Verbose&direction=DESC) link. Select all the proper information and upload it to the "Who Am I" gallery.

2. Not quite sure what you mean, but you can change the way the threads are displayed by going into your UserCP Options (http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/profile.php?do=editoptions). Look down about 1/2 way till you see "Thread Display Mode." Here there are 3 options that will change the way each thread displays. See this Help section (http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/faq.php?faq=vb_board_usage#faq_vb_threadedmode)to decide what you want.(maybe Linear Mode)

3. Repuation is a new thing here on Chief Delphi. It's used to promote good posts and ideas. Each time you believe that someone has made a good post or a "bad" (may not be necessary, a rude post, etc.) you can hand out reputation points. Each user can see who's commented on them under the main part of the UserCP. (http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/usercp.php?)

edit: bah work got in the way and I got beat by 2 people... :)

To change your Avatar, do what Hafize said above. To change your Who-Am-I picture, upload a new picture to the Who-Am-I gallery: http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/pictures.php?action=uploadform&perrow=4&trows=3&sort=date&quiet=Verbose&direction=DESC

The reputation system is very similar to the Karma system seen on other popular websites and forums (Slashdot.org, for example). Its purpose is to hopefully give users an idea of how respected, knowledgeable, helpful, gracious, etc., a person is. It is a system in which you rate your peers. It is a system that, hopefully, will make you think twice about your posts. You can read more about it in the FAQ: http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/faq.php?faq=reputation_faq#faq_rep1

And by the way, since I haven't seen it posted yet, welcome back to the forums! :D
