I captured the video that our team took of The Kamens IRI talent show performance and you can grab it here (http://www.pier13.com/wildstang/2004/DeanSimmonsAndTheKamens.mpg). Be warned: it's a 120MB file.

As has already been mentioned, it was an awesome performance! These guys have a lot of talent, and hopefully this isn't the last time they make an appearance at a FIRST event!

Here within the next few days (probably tonight) I'll try to digitize the encore that they did. It's only 2 songs, so it shouldnt be as big of a file.

The encore from our our camera is up now too. Link (http://www.pier13.com/wildstang/2004/DeanSimmonsAndTheKamens2.mpg) (77MB file this time).

I'm downloading the encore now, but the first video was the pimpest of the pimp.

We've got to be talking a record deal.

My dad has video of another angle, yet to be digitized .. and I'm sure there are others.

Someone should take them all and make a multi-angle music video.

Wow, it even takes a long time to dl even with cable. Oh well, Ill give my opinion on the video of the amazing performance once its done.

If someone wants to take on this project, then just PM me and I can digitize the footage I have of the performance and then send it to you. I was pretty high in the bleaches, but I did get some good footage.

Thank you Dave Flowerday for digitizing and uploading the show.

Watched the videos, definately better in person, but still great. And I found something to rag Andy about! He messed up the lyrics in Enter Sandman by metallica. Its "free from sin", not(as he said), "safe from sin". Okay, that doesnt matter at all, but hey, I had to find something wrong with the show, Im a lavery after all ;) . If I can get enough different camera angles(like 4 or so), Ill do a "music video". I cant promise incredible speed or results, but hey, I can try. Also, does anyone have a view with a shot of the judges cards, that would add more thouch to the video.

Please tell me these videos will be up for a few months...if I try to download from here at home, it'll take me a year! Well, maybe not quite...but if they remain up till I get back to school in September, I'll be very happy.

They should still be there. If for some reason they're not, just contact me.

If anyone knows of a good program to shrink these down to make a more limited-bandwidth-friendly version, let me know. Desktop video isn't something I've spent any time with. Or alternately, if someone has a way to shrink them (hopefully without ruining the sound too much), I can post them for others to download...

::anxiously awaiting tour dates::

That video is awesome!! I wish we were there!! How about performing at a few regionals next year? Or a record contract?

Dean Simmons and The Kamens ROCK!!

Let me know when the CD comes out.

They are too awesome!!! They have fun with it, they're not so serious when it comes to performing. I really liked that video, it was awesome! I wish we had that stuff at the off-season competitions around here. :(

The performance was definitely awesome. The video is pretty good, and shows it well.

But Dave, did you really have to videotape the mosh pit? It shows Paul and me getting beat back pretty handily by Big Mike. ;)

Heh... I wish I could take credit for it. One of our students actually did the taping, I just digitized it.

I thought it was pretty funny though how she zoomed in on Big Mike bouncing people around... :)

He probably did kick JVN's butt, though - that wuss! I was too busy targeting my Team 48 students to notice.... Kudos to Paul Copi-oil for making an appearance and absorbing some damage as well.

Thanks to 447 for making me a coveted Dean Simmons & The Kamens tee shirt! It's complete with a picture of the group along with a lovely strip of duct tape with the band name on it. Very cool shirt! I will wear it with pride!

Good job, DS & K! You guys MADE the talent show!!

You know.. this makes perfect sense. I remember a big debate a while back (after the Mandy Moore appearance at the Championship Event) about what band would be most suited to perform at the end of a Championship Event. The bickering went on and almost everyone agreed that no matter what band played, some people would always be unhappy. Now, I'm thinking, what more acceptable band than a group of our own fellow mentors? Heh, I'm not looking to tie people down further, but muahahahaha.

Lil' Lavery

We should definately make more t-shirts. But actually make real ones this time, not duct taped ones overnight. The front can beasically be the same, a picture, the name, and world tour '04. But the back would have all the tour dates for the world tour '04, Lawrence North High School 7/11(hey, cool date!). That would be sooooo cool.

You can screen print a shirt with a silver strip on it that looks like duct tape.. That would work?

Make it a silver 2" strip that looks like it has been ripped at the ends.

Hey all...I did the best I could in the short time available!!

I had every intention of making them just as you stated (with tour dates on the back and all), but printer problems slowed me down! Thanks David K and Jason K for helping me with that!

If The Kamens will humor us, I am game to help make more. I think I got the best shot for the "album cover" on my digital camera! Oh, if only I knew how to upload photos on here!!

P.S. I would like to take this opportunity to request a formal audition for the "women of FIRST" (or boobettes) to be the official back up singers for the Kamens. We promise to practice really hard in the off-season!

 :ahh: :yikes:

 :ahh: :yikes: :confused:Can I be The Kamens' substitute lead singer when Andy's off doing movies and filming "The Bakers" for MTV? You can use my talent show performance as Viper as my official audition. :p

I CAN HIT THE HIGH NOTES!

I can't believe anybody going up against Big Mike in the mosh pit, but I saw it with my own eyes. Paul Copioli must have bounced four or five feet. Kudos to Big Mike for holding back.
Having you all get up and "dance" was a credit to the talent of the band.

NOT TO BRAG, but I was the one that Amanda talked to about having a talent show at the IRI and I said "yea, whatever, as long as you do all the work" and then Andy said he would get this 'band' together and again I said "yea, whatever, as long as you do all the work", then he said he needed some sound equipment and suddenly I was borrowing amps and mics and stuff (maybe they sounded so righteous because it was borrowed from a CHURCH!) and then Al said he would do the sound board and I said "yea, whatever, as long as you do all the work", so then basically after they played and were actually decent I decided to take the credit for them being there (based on all of the above) and I have become their manager (I haven't told the band this yet) and now I have them under contract for 1 billion dollars and Marci you owe DSATKMBCF* lots of money for using their likeness on a shirt. And I may have to ask Brandon to remove the video from this forum as it is now protected by copyright laws and junk.

I think I got the best shot for the "album cover" on my digital camera! Oh, if only I knew how to upload photos on here!!

Click on "picture galleries" near the top of the page (right above the orange bar)
Above the "subgalleries", you'll see two options - "upload a picture" and "newest pictures". Click "upload".
Pick an appropriate gallery to upload the picture to. For example, if it's an IRI picture, it would go in

--Offseason events
----2004
------IRI

Find the file on your computer. It's gotta be a .jpeg and under 500 kb.
Type in a title ("Dean Kamen and the Simmons Album Picture" or something"
... and a description of the picture.
Click "Upload Picture"
The picture has to be approved by one of the moderators, so you'll have to wait for them to check for new pictures before you can see it in the gallery. If you want it done right away, IM/PM them and they'll usually do it for you.

I hope this helps!!

Ditto! unless...

they will allow me to live a life of servitude as their back up singer! Of course, they would have to sign the whole group!

Well if Chris is getting payed for basically doing nothing, :

Ahh, grasshopper, it only seems as if I am doing basicaly nothing.

The secret of a true manager is delegation and development of those around hiim such that it appears that the subordinates have done all the work and that the manager is really just a figurehead. It appears that I have been incredibly successful at presenting that view to the CD community because you all believe that everyone else did all the work to get the band to the IRI, and only I (and the band and AM and a few others) know what work I really did "behind the scenes" to make everything happen.

I really wanted to keep this part quiet, but I gave AB voice lessons when he was a kid.

well, enough of this. Like they say on TV - "Thank You".
