I recently stumbled upon an e-bay listing for an old school atari console and some games and saw that my most hated video game was in the auction.

Needless to say, I did not bid on it. lol

Anyways for me my:

Most Hated - Q-bert (http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?letter=Q&game_id=9182) I hated the angle of the screen, I was always jumping off of the pyramid.

Most Loved - Medievil Series (yes it's spelled right) Although the first one (http://www.us.playstation.com/Content/OGS/SCUS-94227/Site/) is still my favorite of the two, considering I never finished the second one (http://www.us.playstation.com/Content/OGS/SCUS-94564/Site/). More bad angles and jumping problems. Oh well... Anyways, what's not to love about a recently dead hero with only one eye who was resurrected to fight evil?

So, what games do you love and hate?

Tetris never gets old. NEVER! I even have it as my ring tone :p. DDR Max 2 and Super Mario Bros. also own.

On the other hand, I don't like Star Wars Racer very much.. It gets boring after a while and in my opinion, I don't think the effects are that great.. ::sigh:: I never liked many racing games to begin with, though

Most Loved: Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem (http://cube.ign.com/articles/363/363071p1.html)

Most Hated: Sim Isle (you can bearly even do anything, you basically sit there)

My ALL TIME FAVORITE GAME would have to be Final FantasyVII. FFVII has sooo many mini games that you can play and also raising chocobos! its also 3 disks long, so it lasts a long time. The story line is also great. I've beaten it like 40 times. It never gets old.
Baldurs gate 2: Shadows of Amn was also a great game

My most hated video game would have to be any baseball game...they are just so boring to play. (except for the VERY old ones, cuz it's fun to laugh at the blocky graphics)

For future reference: As soon as the FIRST video game comes out, that will be my new favorite game :D

Most Favorite: Perfect Dark (N64)

Most Hated: Alpha Centauri (sp?) Horrible turn based game for the PC.

Most Loved - Call of Duty, Battlefield Vietnam- they never get old when you play them online plus they have great graphics, and Tom Clancy's: Ghost Recon and The Sims series which are classics.

Most Hated - Choas Island: Jurassic Park - it got boring after the first level and had pointless missions that took to long to complete.

Most Loved- Super Mario World (SNES)

I second FFVII. Great great game. All rpgs kinda suck after that one.

I'm not sure what I hated the most. There are too many bad games.

Love: TOCA Pro Race Driver 2. All the different cars, all the different classes...it's a true test of a driver's ability to jump from a supertruck to a little bitty Formula Ford.

Hate: TOCA Pro Race Driver 2. I can't get past the Mustang Challenge 2000/Coast to Coast Cup. It just can't be done without godlike abilities (which I don't have!)

I absolutely hated Atari's Texas Chainsaw Massacre. And yes, it was as bad as it sounds... The whole game consisted of you (a woman character) running from Leatherface and his chainsaw... I don't know anyone who got past the 3rd level...

I don't know if I have a most loved game now, but a few I was hooked on in the past are Super Breakout and Arkanoid and Tetris and Gauntlet, and I'm not even going to get into the computer games I loved too much.

I think my favorite game would have to be Return to Castle Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory. It was a free game based on RtCW that they released when they weren't moving fast enough to get it done and in the stores.. so they just threw it out on the web for free and it got a HUGE gathering. While it wasn't the most realistic army game, I think it was the most fun. It's one of the nicest lanning games I've come across.

As for a least favorite, this took me a while. I couldn't think of one.. then I tried to think of the game that was installed for the least ammount of time on my computer. I finally remembered Worms 3D. When I saw this game was getting released, I thought it was going to be awesome because I was such a huge fan of all the other 2d Worms games. Much to my disappointment, it sucked. Greatly. It was SO HARD to do ANYTHING in the game.. I barely made it through the tutorial.. and made it through a match without killing ANYONE. So I uninstalled the game and put it in the junk pile :)

HATED-FFX-2, It butchered the FF series, and unsurprisingly it was the first direct sequel. They tried to return to the live action system that worked so well in FFVII and many others, but it was weak in comparison. The plot was not on the FF lvl, and the gameplay wasnt either(dress spheres?!? wtf!?!) It was nowhere near the lvl of game that we've come to expect from SquareEnix. Also, Enter the Matrix, Kingdom Hearts, Zelda:Wind Walker(or whatever, the GC one) and Firewarrior were horrible games.

LOVED-Goldeneye, the game that ushered in the era of FPS to the consoles. It brought about games like Perfect Dark, Red Faction, and Halo(all of which are amazing), and is possibly the best multiplayer game ever(Halo, Starcraft, and WarcraftIII give it a good run for the money). I also love FF tactics, FFX, Xenosaga, WarcraftIII, Starcraft, Zelda:Ocarina of Time, Diablo(series), Halo, and Perfect Dark.

Dorienne

I agree with Lil' Lavery, the FF series got a bit over the top. I don't play it, but even so I get ticked with it..They made too many, and it just got old. No matter how many they made, it got old. I heard about it everywhere, and I saw it all over the place, and wondered to myself, 'when will it stop?'
My brother even got tired of it. He's the VG freak of the family, lol.
This is just my opinion.

Most Loved- For a while I wasted a LOT of time on mechwarrior but it ended up getting old so its not really my most loved any more. What I have to pick as my most loved would probably have to be... Knights of the Old Republic. It had a good Star Wars feel, but it wasent compleatly drenched in it like other games that take place during the movie time peroid. It also had some great game play. Honestly better than being a wookie scout stranded on tattoine like in some other SW RPG.

Most Hated-That would probably have to be Banjo and Kazooie. I thought the game was o.k., but that game just annoyed the heck out of me with the music, the characters, the goals, basically the whole thing. To this day I get angry when I see a bear carrying around a red bird in a back pack.

Well since we're naming our favorites now...

FFX
KOTOR
Halo
Diablo 2
Counter Strike (1.5)
Kingdom Hearts
Onimusha Series
Legend of Zelda - Ocarina of Time & A Link to the Past
Galaga (Ben, you have aweomse taste. Best old school game, ever.)
Starcraft
Dance Dance Revolution <- if you can really call it a video game. or a dancing game, for that matter. Should be called Step Step Revolution, imo. :]

Oh yeah, forgot to say another HATED-pump it up, a rip-off of DDR, and nowhere near as fun.
On the FF topic. Alot of them are really good games, but the the recent ones have gone downhill. FFX was great, but FFIX, FFX-2,and FFTactics Advanced havnt even come close. I havnt gotten a chance to play FFXI yet(need to hook up LAN in basement so I can get my PS2 online), and since its a MMORPG I think it fits in a different category anyway. The one thing I dont get, if its a FINAL fantasy, why are there so many of them(and how can you make a direct sequel to FFX?)? But otherwise it would just be fantasy, which would just sound stupid, so Ill stop questioning it...

The Good:
-SimTower (awsome game)
-Rollercoaster Tycoon (ditto)
-Halo (ditto to the 100 power)
-Lemmings (still my favorite)
-Zelda: Wind Waker (sure, it looked like a cartoon, but the characters seemed more real than any FF character!)
-GoldenEye
-Banjo Kazooie (hehehe)

The Bad:
-Super Mario Sunshine
-Donkey Kong 64 (why would I want to play a game for 80 hours?)
-The World Is Not Enough

The Ugly:
-Enter the Matrix

Well, a lot of the games I would think of as being really great were also very popular, and have already been mentioned, so I'll go with something a little less known: Earthbound, for the SNES. It was a great RPG, and absolutely hilarious. I've never had more fun playing a game than I did playing Earthbound. It wasn't anything incredibly special in any way, but it was just plain fun.

Some other obscure or older games I thought were fun:
Blast Corps (N64) - Who doesn't enjoy destroying buildings with bulldozers and other equipment?
SimFarm (PC) - An entirely underrated member of the Sim series
Animal Crossing (GCN) - A great idle time-waster. I can go around for hours just pulling weeds if I'm bored :p
Legend of Zelda: A Link To The Past (SNES) - Not obscure and already mentioned, but the best Zelda game ever, IMHO.

Oh yeah, forgot to say another HATED-pump it up, a rip-off of DDR, and nowhere near as fun.

I wouldn't dismiss PIU completely - my experience of it wasn't that great but the machine I played on was horrible. I've heard there are some really good PIU mixes in the US and Japan, you just have to find them.

Other Bemani games that are awesome -

Beatmania (IIDX)
Drummania
Guitarfreaks
ParaPara
Pop n' Music
Keyboard Mania

I think Half-Life is the best game ever made. If you just think of the number of mods available for it... And the original game was fun too.

Best Game EVER! Tribes 2, soon to be topped by Tribes: Vengence in the fall. Also, Virtua Tennis for the dreamcast. And JOUST!

Worst Game EVER! CS is bad cause it's so old, and people won't drop it. I also don't like RPGs, any of them really. Way too much storyline and very slow.

Madison
16-07-2004, 15:21
Fun games:
SimIsle, Roller Coaster Tycoon (1 & 2), Transport Tycoon Deluxe, SimFarm, Aerobiz, Total Annihilation, Halo, Perfect Dark, 007: Agent Under Fire, 007: Nightfire, GoldenEye, No Limits Roller Coaster Simulator, Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee, Twisted Metal series, Crimson Skies, Power Stone, Marvel vs. Capcom 2, DDR, Donkey Kong 64

Not-so-fun games that I have played:
Baldur's Gate, Black and White, Star Wars, Super Mario Bros. 2, Simcopter, Streets of Simcity, Caesar II, more.

Way too much storyline, and very slow? Ever played a FF game? Not slow at all. I can also tell you dont like Tolkein books, and you went straight to the movies, due to they are too slow, and are full of plot. You also prolly dont like stealth game either, because you cant go "rambo" on them....

Games I like- PoP series (especially The Sands of Time), Half-Life, Doom(never gets old), Knights of the Old Republic(totally awesome), and Tron 2.0 (if you liked the movie, or even hated the movie, you'll love the game).

I don't play many games i dont like, but some that come to mind are the Sims series (why not just go do something physically instead of pretending to?) also gunbound.

I played it for two years straight and couldn't get past that floating big headed thing and just traded it in. I'm playing Medal of Honor: Rising Sun instead.

My most loved video games to date:
Super Mario Bros. 3
Sonic the Hedgehog 2
Sonic & Knuckles LOCK-ON with Sonic 3 (The first and ONLY game to have such a great feature. Amazing Nintendo hasn't done it with the Game Boy.)
Final Fantasy VII - never finished it, but good none the less.
Crash Bandicoot 1 & 2
Armored Core
Tetris
The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker - I have never seen so much life be put into a game, and despite the fact that a lot of my team mates bash the game, it is such a great game. All Zelda fans MUST play it before even bashing it.
Metroid Prime - Just finished it, and I find it awesome that samus actually took off her helmet. :D

Most Hated - Aqua Aqua

I've wasted more time with MechWarrior 2: 31st Century Combat back in the day than I would ever care to admit. It's just something about controlling an 85-ton bipedal robot and raining death with an alpha-strike of three particle-projection cannons (at 10fps with a 486/DX2! woot!) that satisfies the inner beast. The Marauder IIC was the best -- she was my baby.

As for worst, I don't anyone can say that he or she has played a geniunely bad game until they try one of those ultra-budget "value" titles that you often see piled up by the hundreds in giant baskets at some computer stores. Some are actually kind of good. Most are horrid. For my case, I bought Secret Service (And Some Other Inane Subtitle Here), published by Activision's Value line, a few months ago. I paid $4.88 plus tax for it. I overpaid by exactly $30.83Ľ for that game. Bleh.

Lil' Lavery is correct in all respects except one and I'll take his word for Red Faction and the FF series, I don't have a PS2...or PS1. I just don't believe that Halo or Perfect Dark is that much of a stealth game...I like to be more blunt...or hollow-point I guess. A 90% minimum accuracy in PD can do that to you. My little bro owns the N64 though and he swicthed it for a Gamecube, so I don't get to play anymore *tear rolls down cheek*

Some of my favorite computer games though:
Age of Mythology
Chess for packard bell (Simple, difficult, not gawdy) (I ported it to my 'new', er, newer computer though, the packard bell only had 700 megs memory...)
Civilization III (its ok, not very customizable though)
Urban Assault (Not the commercailized version, a different game enclosed as freeware in microsoft game controller packages to test the joystick)
Alpha Centuri (program is done in notepad like UA...hmm...can we say mod?)
And Tetris...I still run that on an old Powerbook 180 (A floppy doubles its avalible memory :) ).

Steel Batallion for Xbox jsut has a cool controller though. Play it at a store but don't buy it. Its only a so-so game, but there's something about 3 foot pedals, 2 joysticks and close to 70 buttons including one for windshield wipers and ejecting that makes this mech game worth playing...

I never said that Halo or PD are stealth games, what I meant was that stealth games are slow pased and you cant go "rambo" in them, like you can in Halo, or PD. Metal Gear Solid 2, and Splinter Cell are stealth games. A moajority of RF isnt stealth either(especially considering your a demo expert in RF2).

I absolutely hate Microsoft Hearts... you can't "Deal Again" like in Solitaire - you have to restart the program.

And on that note, Microsoft's Solitaire is awesome. It never ceases to amuse.

Most Loved--
Final Fantasy 6 (sold as FF3 for the SNES in America).
This is the single greatest game I've ever played. Great action. Great story. Great characters. Absolutely awesome. Better than any FF since (except FF9 came close). The music from this game sends tingles up my spine.

SW:KOTOR
I'm a hardcore, Star Wars nerd (seriously... it's sad). This game is everything I could have ever wanted from a SW RPG. Awesome. Playing it as a darkside character is more fun than I want to admit. More tingles.

Whoa...
2 RPGs. That's kinda weird.
I guess I enjoy a good story more than anything else.

John

Edit:
These are just 2 of many.
I've grown up as a gamer, and have a special place in my heart for quality time with "the nintendo". I won't try to list more, because I'd just leave more out.

It seems I stand corrected. Splinter Cell (for Xbox, love the graphics) and MGS2 are stealth games and they also rock.
I must edit my previous comments...

My favorite game of all time (so far) is Final Fantasty Tactics. I love the battle system in that game. Its one of the few RPGs that the random battles aren't horribly annoying. Silent Hill and Icco are close seconds. Icco was so pretty... SilentHill is one of the best scary games I've played. Of course System Shock II is up there.

Favorite Multiplayer Games: StarCraft, MarioKart, SmashBrothers. PerfectDark was excellent for a while.

Least Favorite: hm... The Sims. Its boring.

I had posted a while ago but forgot to put down my most loved video game. Well, the only one I ever played...I was about 7 and the only game I would play was Sonic on Sega, when that was the main video game system. I loved it because not only was it fun, but it was a time where my brother and I would stop fighting and just have fun together and play. *sigh* Good times.

For me, being "teh" gaming nut i am, I shall categorize this stuff by old school/new school...

Old School

Most loved: Pong- The classic. And its still good.
Most hated: Pole Position- Real annoying, Real fast
Somewhere in the middle: Q*Bert (sp?)- Not as family friendly as you think it is. Recently, I realized that he was always swearing whenever you lost a life...

New School

Most loved: Phantasy Star Online- Great game online and offline
Most hated: GTA- way too redundant
Somewhere in the middle: Pokemon- even thought the concept of catch, battle, repeat is a little redundant, Nintendo did add in some new stuff ever since the release of Ruby/Saphire to keep teh game a little interesting (2v2 battles is a must)

Games that are worthy of being mentioned (in my mind, that is)
Fire Emblem - GBA
Golden Sun series - GBA
Donkey Konga - GCN (addicted ever since I played the first song)
Tales of Symphonia - GCN
Megaman Anniversary Collection
Megaman X1-3 - SNES
Megaman X4-6 - Playstation One
Marvel vs. Capcom series - Playstation/2
Quake III Arena - PC
Star Wars: Rouge Squadron 3: Rebel Strike - GCN
Street Fighter III (either one)

Even though I keep on testing all sorts of glitches in games that not many people play, I always find the time to either play Sapphire Version or Red Version. The 2 VS 2 thing in R/S is pretty cool, but I don't think about it too much. I just think of the National Dex, and how hard it's going to complete.

Capturing 382 pokemon (not including THE legendaries like Mew, Celebi, Jirachi, Lugia, and Ho-oh) is going to be a very tough task to complete. I wish you the best of luck

I have 251 pokemon including Jirachi and Ho-oh, plus I have played Colosseum and I'm currently playing my friend's FireRed Version, so it shouldn't be too long now. Thanks for your sense of caring Brian Lesser.

Does anyone remeber the glitch pokemon that was in the original game? You had to do a bunch of funky stuff to get it but it worked.

The "MissingNo" glitch? Yeah that was one of my personal favorite gliches. :D
There are so many glitches in the original pokemon than everything else, so that's why it's always good to test the games in that catagory.

Halo <--After Microsoft ruined it. The MP was mediocre at best, and the single player stands among some of the worst level design i have seen in years. Playing Halo is like playing something from approximately 8 years ago, with vastly improved graphics. The game design is so archaic, it's ridiculous.

Console games

Consoles don't bother me that much, but i find it ridiculous that low quality games can be released year after year on consoles while excellent games like Deus Ex or Ghost Recon go largely unnoticed on the PC. I don't see why being a console game is an excuse for sloppy level design, poor balancing, and horrible graphics. Seriously people, 90% of these console games that you're raving over are either knockoffs of superior PC franchises, or explicitly made as ports. The only thing that the consoles are doing better is sports games.

For those who didn't know, Pocky and Rocky is, I believe, an SNES/GBA game, and Sonic Crackers is the "Beta" of Chaotix. Just for those who didn't know what I was talking about earlier and forgot to ask me.

By the way, I don't hate Sonic Crackers (cuz I've been playing for a while).
