View Full Version : First day back to school for myself and others is a full moon. Should we be scared?

Well, Monday August 30th is my first day back to school, and coincidentally also my team's first day back at their school as well.
And on that day, there is going to be a full moon.
Should I and everyone else who goes back to school this day think of this as a lucky sign, or an unlucky sign?
Thoughts? Comments?

Well, are any of them werewolves? That may be a good place to start.
Second...I'd say just because 'tis school, it could be a bad omen. The disruption of the sleep schedule and all.
Then again, it signals the incoming robotics season, so that outweighs the sleep factor, so it's lucky! And then again, I'm an optimist.

You know, I heard from one of my teachers this past week (thats right, I started school not last week, not the week before that, but on AUGUST 9th!!) that a full moon does in fact have an effect on people, werewolves or not. It has to do with the moon's effect on gravity. Remember, we are mostly water ;)

Good old september 1st, latest school has started here in Rockville in awhile.
Good old block scheduling letting me get past the first day without having to hand in ap work. (yes, most of it IS done)
anyone else get AP work over the summer? also, was some of it due over the summer?

I remember back in my day when summer school work was only for the kids who needed to catch up from the year before, not get a head start (I'm assuming) for the upcoming year. That's sad.
I never had to do homework over the summer except for those 2 or so years I was in summer school.
I never did, and still don't really like the concept of homework (isn't 6 hours a day doing school work enough) and like it even less now that I hear students have to do it over the summer as well.
No wonder the summers go by so fast nowadays for you kids...

I've already been back for a full week. but i always take the coming full moon with a bit of caution, after the stories i heard from an ER nurse when i was a young lad, about all the cRaZy stuff that goes on during a full moon.

I don't know much about full moons, but it's never a good sign when you start class on Labor Day.

You start school on labor day?
Isn't labor day Sept 6th? or 7th? something like that
i feel no pity if that's when you start school?
Yes, summer work should offcially be called "read your butt off a few days before school starts work"
I had 4 books and 4 essays to write, 2 books and an essay had to be handed in as of July 30th
Weird huh?

Labor day is Sept. 6. My school, doesn't start til the 7th, so I've got one last week. :(
Yeah, I had to do summer work for english, reading and reporting on four books, not too much fun, and starting on a 14 page essay. Oh well, this just means we're closer to the FIRST season, right?

School started the 25th, I had to hand in my first 3 chapters of problems for AP Chemistry, and I also had summer reading...Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. We were told to "write down our connections if we felt necessary" which I assumed really meant "we will collect your connections on the first day of school," but actually that was never collected. No work due during the summer though.
