When I was searching for some hawaiian bling in honor of this thread (http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/showthread.php?t=30332&page=1&pp=15) I came across this. (http://www.hwn.net/hwnname_frame.html) Sooo... what's your hawaiian name??

Mine is Kini :)

Oh, and another thing, if it can't find your name, try this site (http://www.alohafriends.com/names.html) to search for a better translation... if you feel like scrolling through lots of names, that is.

My first name is Kaile

My middle name is hawai'ian to begin with, so no translation is needed (unless you want to know what it is in English): Kuokoa

My brother (Wetzel) will probably also post to this...cuase his middle name is also hawai'ian. Our parents gave us hawai'ian middle names because we were both born in Honolulu.

I think we should add an element of competition to this.... who has the most amount of letters in their Hawaiian first name?

So far the longest is 8 letters, and that goes to Brad Cahn ---> Palakale

mine has only 4 ... :(

Were counting the letters in your hawaiian first name, silly! :)

so far it's Kilikikina Kini and Palikekeke Loke in the lead with 10 letters.

Kiwi_queen

I found Kilikina Loke -> Kristina Rose (they didn't have my middle name so I used my confirmation name, which I do use as a second middle name)

Hey, this is awesome....

First, my Hawaiian name is Akeli! That's cool!

Also, we have a full Tiki Lounge in our Living Room and Kitchen. We are always looking for things to add to it. We have an area with all of the "Lucky 7's" names, but I'm going to change it immediately.

Thanks for sharing the link!,
Akeli, Kelekolio, Leikela, Kale, Monika, Keoni, Kiliki, and Kaniela

Well, the contest was originally supposed to be just your first name in hawaiian....
I think we should add an element of competition to this.... who has the most amount of letters in their Hawaiian first name?

but since this seems to be confusing some people then we might as well change it to being your first and middle name...but lets exclude last names just in case people don't want to share their last names online. And for those who originally only posted your first names, feel free to add your middle names.

In that case, then it's still Kilikikina Kini and Palikekeke Loke in the lead with 14 letters.

oh wait i forgot one other....
I did more research, and found out that it stands for "Macadamia Shovedupnose" or something similar...

dave lavery for the longest literal translation at 19 letters.... jk :D

Heiki Ana Pokeli

Now, in English my name translates to "Noble Grace Of the Woods". In Hawaiian, it's more like "Falls from tree while gathering coconuts."

O fun... Jillian Laura translates to Kila LaLa. sounds menacing, huh? I sound like I'm going to kill pink fuzzy things.

I think I prefer what my whole name (Jillian Laura Bejtlich) means: Joyful - Victorious - Beam of Light, much more to Kila LaLa. :D
