If this is for the safety animation the form are locate at https://projectpoint.buzzsaw.com/client/FIRST
Does you animation contain audio? Yes_____ No _____ If so, is it music? Yes_____ No____
If yes, what is the title of song(s), and the author(s) name, and name of band or artist:
__________________________________________________ _______________________________________
Is it original music created specifically for your animation? Yes______ No________
If no, do you have written consent from the legal copyright owner to use this music in your animation?
Yes_____ No_____ (If yes, attach written consent with entry form. If no, your animation will be disqualified.)
This is part of the form, basically you have to attach a letter of consent. I hope this helps. Let me know if u need n e thing else.

does an email count as written consent. Because i emailed a guy from the band im using and he said use anything we want.

Once you decide completely on what music you are going to be using, I would type up a more formal consent letter and have your band read and sign it, just to play it on the safe side. Though it really depends on how well known the band is, label they are signed with (if any), etc. Last year all we had was a verbal agreement with our drama teacher who improvised our music in a couple of minutes. Because the music was not copyrighted, there was no problem. However, for copyrighted music, I would go with a formal letter.

Just wondering, if I were to have my friend's band play a song not written by them would I need their permission as well as the initial writer's permission? What I mean is say my friend was to do Hotel California for some reason and I used it in my animation. Would I need to contact the Eagles and get their permission too?
Also if i were to say hack out random parts of several songs like a couple seconds long would I be required to contact all of those people?
I'm just curious about this.
