View Full Version : Random Tranformer and What do the CMUCam2 LED's do?
We recieved a Futaba FBC-19B(4) power adapter in out kit. We are curious as to what all all three LED's do on the CMUCam2. Any help would be appreciated. Also the sofware to calibrate crashes alot. :confused:
Ok, If I am reading the manula correctly, there is one power LED, and two user LEDs which can be set by sending the following:
L0 value /r or L1 value /r
the values are as follows:
0 => LED off
1 = > LED on
2 => Auto (default)
by default, L0 is the tracking LED, and lights upon lock, L1 is off by default. The power LED is not user controllablle.
As for the calibration software, yeah, I e-mailed Kevin Watson about trying to come up with a calibration system which can run through the onboard controller or an attached microcontroller running so as to recieve data from the camera in slave mode.

And this is a problem?

I would start by reading the PDF documentation CMUcam2_fe manual.pdf LED 0 does nothing (user defined) LED 1 is a tracking LED and the last is a power LED.
Also the sofware to calibrate crashes alot.
Yeah. It was written by CMU for college graduate students, not John Q. Public. I had the same problem. It is immature Java code. If you are doing something like "Track Yellow" hit STOP before you change screens and do anything else.
What do you want for nothing? A ruuuubbbbeerr biscuit? :cool:
Mr. Betts,
Not to be difficult, but I think that the manual said that L0 is tracking
Mia Culpa,
You are right, L! is tracking
From the manual "LED 1 turns on when the camera confidently detects an object while tracking and provides feedback during a send frame. In automatic mode, LED 0 does nothing, so it can be manually set."

Don't apologize too quickly. I would expect contradictions in documentation with a product of this pedigree.
OKay, so that was the problem with the software. Anyways, we did read the manual pdf, and couldn't locate what the one LED was really for. (maybe we are blind). We were also wondering why we were shipped the transformer. We thought it might be for powering the camera while configuring or something...
No idea on the transformer,
As fo the leds, use Acrobat to search for "LED." The result is on page 50 something.

There was no transformer in the kit. You were, however, shipped two power supplies. One for recharging the NiCad battery and one for powering the operator interface.
We were digging through a pile of junk this morning and figured out where the transformer came from. :D That's what we get for someone else organizing things...
