David Kelly, team 234, has been out of electricity due to storms, since Sunday. I'm afraid he is having posting withdrawl! Let's just hope that they get Indianapolis back up and running before David checks into a rehab center!

haha: ok, so maybe that's not a funny statement, but it is a perfect metaphor [or whatever] for what's happening to me right now...they are about to girdle my broadband connection and I am feeling the first signs of withdrawal....

Why doesn't he just use the hampster on a wheel to power his computer like The High Priest does? ;)

Thanks Libby, at the very least you could have come over to let me use your laptop.

Finally, after 75 grueling and painful hours IPL has restored our power. It was prolly the hottest week that we had this summer. It was very frustrating to see that your neighbors across the street had power and you didn't. There were only 35 houses in my neighborhood that lost power as a result, we were on the "Low Priorety list" meaning that they would get to us after the larger affected areas were fixed, eventhough we lost power waaaayy before the others did.

Has any one else been in a situation like this?

In Michigan one time we lost power for over a week after a large storm and a tornedo.

The High Priest's neighborhood has never lost power in it's 9 years of existence.

Just feel lucky you don't have ROLLING BLACKOUTS! Actually I've gotten lucky and I think I've only been at home once during a blackout, and that was when we had blackouts last year before this whole power trouble started hitting hard.

And I don't think they're gonna be cutting the power to our workplace at Nasa Ames anytime soon... (though when we got back from the Chatsworth invitational there was a note on the door saying the power would be out June 23rd and 24th. We got back at about 5 pm on the 24th and we had power...)

I've only had a power outage a few times...but they're not for long b/c my nieghborhood, even though we're like four miles away, is on the same grid as the hospital. Oh well. At least we get our power back quick when it gets knocked out. Go FPL! lol

~Angela who would just run over to Kristen's house and use her comp if her power went out

I've only experienced one rolling blackout here in southern califiornia. It happened while I was at work around lunch time, so my boss took me out to lunch and when we got back the power was back :)

Needless to say, I have a 650VA UPS for my computer that gives me about 30 minutes of runtime. If a blackout ever happens, I'll just continue posting ;)

Yesterday my power was out for awhile because of storms. Then the power came back on but there was still lightning. That's majorly annoying, the computer is right there but you can't use it. One year Williamsburg was out of power for a week and a half over Christmas. It was cold, we were all hungry, and we couldn't take showers, except for the people who lived in the golf couse communities and were out of power for about 2 hours. grrrrrrrr. We couldn't even have lights on our trees or listen to very much Christmas music, we had to conserve batteries for a week and a half.
C~ya,
Carolyn who now lives in "the lightning state".

Poor Califonians...

You'll notice that while you guys are having the rolling blackouts, EVERY light is on at the power plant.

ive lived in my house for 13 years...recently my mom was commenting that we have never lost power...needless to say within 30 minutes we lost power. the outage lasted 7 hours

Carolyn Duncan

13 years huh? well, stuff happens and then you die.

stuff happens and then you die.

The story of life...

mike o'leary
16-07-2001, 16:20
seriously...it was funny at first but then the joke got old fast
the best part was that it was in the middle of a family gathering, so we had like 20 people over...and for some odd reason olearys are the about the loudest family ive ever come across...its the main factor in almost every member of my family whos over 50 being in need of a hearing aid...needless to say they all refuse to get one and im left with a massive headache

Carolyn Duncan
16-07-2001, 21:45
Well Mike O'leary sounds a wee bit Irish (said with an Irish accent). And what does the world know about an Irish Family? That they like to drink their ale and have a good time. Usually people who have been drinking tend to speak a bit louder than normal, having deaf people just makes it worse. I know how you feel though, I am living temporarily with my grandparents and my grandfather is deaf as a doornail. He can't turn the T.V. up any louder and he still barely hears it (hard head won't get a hearing aide).
C~ya, Carolyn who feels your headache pain.

EddieMcD

You try living in The High Priest's house, and then we'll talk.

Carolyn Duncan
17-07-2001, 14:19
Not much info to go on there but it could always be worse.
C~ya,
Carolyn who wonders what the person, who doesn't have anyone worse off than he is, is like.

EddieMcD
17-07-2001, 16:33
Yeah right.

Carolyn Duncan
17-07-2001, 22:38
Ya lost me. Oh, well, doesn't take much.

EddieMcD
18-07-2001, 11:10
You said it could be worse. The High Priest doesn't think so.

Carolyn Duncan
18-07-2001, 14:59
Oh well. Life goes on...

EddieMcD
18-07-2001, 16:50
We think...

Then again this could all just be a dream,...

If this were a dream, The High Priest would have a girlfriend. ;)

EddieMcD
20-07-2001, 11:33
Well, The High Priest's life isn't that bad. After all, he is The High Priest of the Holy Order of FIRSTism.

Have a nice day. :)

How many members are there in the Holy Order of FIRSTism anyway?

EddieMcD
22-07-2001, 10:16
Well, technically, everybody who's ever graced FIRST is part of the Holy Order of FIRSTism with the exception of Dean (god of FIRSTism) and Woodie (his prophet).

Carolyn Duncan
22-07-2001, 22:39
I see. So, how did you become the High Preist? "I didn't vote for you. I want to become the High Preistess" There's a bit of modification there but the movie it came from should still be aparent.

A. Leese
23-07-2001, 01:43
I myself don't know about how the whole priest thing came out..but..be warned..if you should ever happen to want to marry anyone in the Tigerbolt chat, Eddie has to do it

Well, what if Eddie is the one who wants to get married? BTW, how many people have gotten married on Tigerbolt?

My holiness disallows it, and 10.

You are the High Preist yet on one of the other threads you claim not to be religious at all. How does that work. Everyone is religious in some way or another. Ever heard of Unitarianism? Members believe that they can believe in anything they want. They shapre their own religion, they have different beliefs but are united in principle.

EddieMcD
26-07-2001, 12:42
It's not a religion, it's a holy order!

Carolyn Duncan
26-07-2001, 18:23
You try explaining the diff and I'll still be able to link religion to whatever you come up with. They are linked.

mike o'leary

holy is somethign that is sacred to a religious group...therefore it implies in and of itself some sort of religious affiliation.
