View Full Version : Problem downloading any Camera code

We've run into a weird problem when downloading any code with camera code in it (including the default hex file included with the 2.4 default code). Any time we download this code, we get a code error from the controller. Dashboard says it's "Invalid CONTROL or CURRENT MODE byte". Code that doesn't use the camera works fine. Weird thing is, a short bit after downloading the code and seeing the error, the voltage on the oi reads around 8v and gives a low voltage warning (note that the battery is fully charged to 12+ volts), and the backup is also fully charged.
We are using:
FRC controller updated with version 10 master firmware
IFI Loader 1.0.10 - current version of this
If anyone has seen this and can offer a suggestion it would be of great help.
We've encountered the exact same problem, using a 2004 robot controller and all latest software with 2005 2.4 default code. Drive motors are connected to pwms 11 and 12 as specified. Encountering code violation lights, the "Invalid CONTROL or CURRENT MODE byte" message on dashboard, as well as the voltage drop on the main battery. The controller also has the latest master code.

I can't explain why this works, but, the same code that gave us the above errors downloaded and ran without issue when we used a different laptop.
The laptop that failed was a Dell Inspiron(I don't remember the model off the top of my head, but slightly older, maybe 3 years old) running Windows 2000.
The one that works is an IBM Thinkpad T22 900Mhz also running Windows 2000.
Both were using IFI Loader 1.0.10 and the same exact .hex files.
Maybe it's a serial port issue? I would try setting the baud rate lower on both the controller and laptop and see if that changes anything.

Not sure what the problem was, but the code seems to work properly on our 2005 robot controller, using same computer and serial port.
