I have a need to give riddles to people so...why not here?

Ok, so a police man goes on vacation and brings everything he can to remember it. He comes back to work, but one month later he reported a murder where he was at before on his vacation. Why did the police man wait so long? :confused:

Ive heard this before but I dont remember it. Was it his own murder and he had a picture telling who the culprit was, that wasn't found untill later?

I actually just saw this riddle in a book I'm reading for a psychology class. The answer given was that he didn't notice the murder until he got the pictures he took developed one month after his vacation.
