View Full Version : Help Genia Get Taller and Win Another Prize

So, in the track of "Win a Prize" (probably food at a regional, since I like bringing food for people at regionals) threads, I have made another one.
I'm almost 5'2". Really. I'm about > < that close. See that space in there? Well more than that but still I'm almost there. Consider it 61.875 inches. So how do I get taller hmmm?
Best & most effective suggestion wins a prize.

Sorry, Genia. I've been trying that for years, and if you've already gone through puberty, you're pretty much stuck with just almost 5'2" forever.
But, you can take pride in 3 things:
1.) You will never be taller than your date, no matter how high your heels are.
2.) You will never be the shortest person in FIRST (unless Ashlee somehow grew, but she's older than me).
3.) It's really funny to watch the looks on people's faces who have only seen you in heels when they watch you shrink before their eyes as you take the shoe off.

:yikes: Pessimistic are we :)
However, there is hope. My youth group advisor grew an inch her freshman year of college. I'm sure I will get my chance. Here are some tips I've gotten...
1) More and more milk
2) Billfred promised to stretch me at Nationals
3) Hang around people shorter than me
:)

I wish I were shorter (or that my boyfriend were taller!!) I'm 5'4", he's 5'7" ... so I can hardly every wear heels.
Genia, I know -- trade heights with me! That way I can wear my tall shoes again, and you'll be two-and-something-inches taller! :yikes:

:p More like realistic...when you get to be as old as me you learn that having your brother turn out to be taller than you is not that bad of a thing...especially since it doesn't take much to pass me in height ;)
Though hanging around people shorter than you seems to be the easiest fix, besides tall shoes.
PS - And Katie, I think the best option for you would be to have your boyfriend get taller - I'm sure you've invested some money into nice heels that are currently gathering dust ;)

Style your hair in a way that makes you appear taller.
Wait.
That'd almost have to be a fro or mohawk.
I'll get back to you on this... :ahh:

Do not trust Billfred if he suggests the use of robots and ropes to stretch you.
I think you should learn to embrace your vertical limits, after-all, if you're short, you can find more places to hide if you're ever being chased by a homicidal maniac wielding a machete.

In medieval england there used to be a thing called a rack, which was basically 2 rollers with string on, for torturing and thus stretching people ....

stretch. trust me, if you stretch alot you will gain inches, maybe not alot...but enough. i think that's the only reason i went from 5'4 to 5'4.75 (or 5'4.5...or just 5'5...it depends...)...so stretch UP. as in, link your arms, and reach. it feels good too. =)

Heidi In my defense, I suggested neither robots nor ropes.
I suggested the bar from FIRST Frenzy. :D

My uncle (probably 5'5 or 6) used to hang from a bar for 15 minutes everyday. He said it would make him taller. I don't know if it worked or not, but everyone seemed to like him so sounds like a good idea to me.

Great ideas guys! :)
I'll be working on that.
However, keeping in mind...
Short people are better at DDR. Our center of balance is closer to the board after all.

yes....i have NO BALANCE on ddr, i end up falling over every now and then....
so yea. but then again, i'm STILL short so...maybe it's just me

platform shoess genia!! thats what i wear...im only like 5'2 5'3...but im 5'5 with platform shoes lol

Only problme with platform shoes or heels:
My natural grace (or lack thereof) doesn't allow for such things...they simply leave me closer to the ground than I already would be. :(

Hmm lets see I don't have this problem but I'll give it a try
1. Avoid Coffee
2. Get some Miracle grow
3. Ask Santa Claus
4. Hang upside down for a few hours

i dont know how to help you that much seeing as im about 6'2" but ill give it a try
maybe, you could get a segway and just use that!
I remember Titus and his hover crafts, maybe they can help lift you up, or maybe get a freshman and have then get on all fours and stand on there back.
But for someone with energy like you try jumping up and down alot when you are near people, then the last thought in there head will be how short you are. :)

Style your hair in a way that makes you appear taller.
That's exactly what I do :]
Hair down: 5' 11"
Hair up: 6' 2"
Maybe you should just stick to thick shoes :p or being short.

Hmmm I'm not sure how to take that Kyle :P
I'm not short anymore guys!

Rember daves post about the little lathe?
If you water it and nuture it and fertillize it and put it in the sunlight, it might just grow up to be a big Genia:)

You could just try walking around on your toes, but that might get tiring and start to hurt after a while. :p
or just get a taller DDR pad! ;)

You can get these things stuck in your leg and turn 'em everyday and get like 6 inches taller in a year....but it looked painful. I saw it on the Discovery Channel for the "little people". If that doesn't work, hang off of an old 2004 center bar with weights on your ankles! :p

as long as no part of you or the weights are bearing weight on the platform below or the vertical bars, you should be considered legal. if you were tall itd be harder because you need to bend your knees or sumthing. but not too many people are that tall.
easiest way to get taller other than all those other ways everyone posted is to get snagged by a robot and let the robot swing you around FAST :D

My honest remedy (being between 5 feet even and 5'2' depending on where i am, and what measuring tape) is to use it to your advantage.
Being short allows you to not only go unnoticed by the tall people, but also amazingly good a finding good hiding places. Free rides (piggyback, etc) are also an advantage to being short. It also helps then the lift the robot to do work, and you're the quickest one under it, since you're lowest.
The thing that has made me grow, sleep, lots of it, and a lot of milk.
Also, stretching, and exercise. Does amazing things.
stop thinking about it, that sometimes helps:p
try not to stand next to the tall people, and if you do, get a chair, table, stool, etc to stand on

But being short does not help you ride a chopper ;) (even a mini-chopper).

As Gene Wilder said in Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory as an idea to get the kid who shrunk himself back to normal size, "Take him to the taffy pulling machine."

There's always those things that you can have pinned into your legs, and when you turn the screws on them, they stretch the bones.. :p
I hear that getting two REM sleep cycles in a night works..
It worked for me.. Lol

I agree with my buddy Mike up there...Be proud of your shortness! I'm 5'2" - 5'2 1/2" and I'm proud of it! I love being short. Fun being unnoticed. I can scare people easier. ;)

what about getting a bear hug by big mike while someone pulls on your legs?
or just the bear hug from big mike might work.

Alright, alright, I've got a real solution.
Apparently when you wake up in the morning, your body's kinda gotten used to being horizontal, and has thus spread out.
At the end of the day, your body's kinda gotten used to being vertical, and has thus compressed somewhat.
Solution? Measure yourself first thing in the morning.

Another plus (in my opinion) of being height limited is that shorter people make better Evil Overlords. My theory on this is it's because shorter people get used to having things done for them: "Here let me get that down for you." or "Here, let me put that away for you." We kind of get used to people slaving away for us.

Hmmmmm, let us see...
I really like DJ's taffy pulling idea. Oh billfred! Where are you?
Lisa (keiko): ;) OH I use it to my advantage. But people also use me to their advantage. I am in fact the eternal chin rest. :-D

To become the ultimate overlord! All of you tall things will be my minions, and all of you short people will be my homies in crime.

people even do that, i just turn look, if they don't get the message, i just go, "no" and they move, there ARE however people that can do that to me
arm rest, chin rest, etc
i suppose it's all an even exchange in the end

See, I can't avoid them like that. If they're nice, they're free to use me as a whatever rest, and mean people wouldn't do that anyway. They'd just kinda off and do their own thing.
Maybe I should advertise? "Better Free Hugs" AND "Free Chinrest"
