I noticed Xufer wants dramastic to be a word, and I've had my own word I've liked for a while. Obnoxion. It's the noun for of obnoxious. SO like, if someone is bothering you can be like, I'm sick of your obnoxions. Or if theres something that bothers you a lot, you could call it an obnoxion as opposed to an annoyance or something. Anyone else got good made up words?

I grew up thinking "mummix" was a word. I don't know how many times I heard my mother yell at me for "mummixing" the cats.

Mummix: to hold and squeeze tightly

The two words I've made up (and been laughed at something fierce for saying them) are: phrasement and ungrinding.

I've got one for you...

AAAAAAAAAARRRRRGGGGHHHHH
1. int. Scream of frustration at a flawed system that either does not change or changes at a glacial pace. "After reading about the state government's new plans that failed to address any actual issues, I went 'AAAAAAAAAARRRRRGGGGHHHHH' and felt slightly better."
2. n. One who causes such a scream of frustration. "That cashier is such an AAAAAAAAAARRRRRGGGGHHHHH; how many times can one misinterpret my order?"
I'll think of another later.

2 ones from my life:

Wooty - First used by Rombus in 2004, Wooty is the act of being completely Woot about something. Jo told Rick that they were SkiBoarding this Weekend, Rick responded "WOOTY!"

Pedest - The act that a Pedestrian dose. Also known as walking. Will was crossing a street when he was almost hit by a car. He called out "HEY! Im Pedesting here!"

I think combobulate and gruntled both ought to be words, as discombobulate and disgruntled both are. And perhaps undiscombobulate (to fix something that is discombobulated) and recombobulate (something that is combobulated that becomes discombobulated should be able to be recombobulated) as well.

My friends and I had a fun late night conversation one night of build randomly adding on prefixes and suffixes to words. We came up with some interesting ones. antiundisprehyperrobotablefullness. Highly entertaining it was.

I forgot about nimsquit - a light hearted insult. And electronical ought to be a word as well. It just sounds nice.

Automagically.

I've actually used it on a Lab report before.
"Excel then calculates the trend-line automagically".

Prof never noticed.

redonkulus......combination of "ridiculous" and... well I don't know, but it sounds cool. :)

The first one I owe to my history teacher, Mr. DeMazza.
The second one I owe to my precalc teacher, Mr. Fellows.

I'll post more if I think of any. :)

inside-outable -- i used this for a while until someone pointed out that a shirt is "reversible" not "inside-outable" ...but my word is so much better
telepathetically -- i dunno, i always end up saying this instead of telepathetically. so instead of neha being wrong we should add it to the dictionary

man, i can't remember any more. i make up words all the time...i figure, if you can't the perfect word doesn't exist, make it up.

i'm actually known for this one word that i used for a presentation in a BEST robotics comptn but i can't pick it out, i guess it's already in my vocabulary

lets see..........

Eleventy, eleventeen, hundredty, and thousandty just because they sound funny, and some words my friend made up, such as coolnessocity. Also, there is Antidisestablishmentarianism, which my seventh grade english teacher made us learn to spell............. He says it exists, but I don't beleive him. I guess it means the condition of being involved with an establishment.

Although it's true, this thread hurts my grammatically-correct English soul...

Badonkulous- Anything that is contorted well past its original spelling/meaning, so contorted that it is literally ridiculous. Used in reference to pop culture, or anything that is over-the-top.

ex: 'Word to your mother? What does that mean? Don't be badonkulous.'

sheveled – a state of being well organized, in control, or well groomed. (from disheveld)

gruntled – an individual’s state of happiness. (from disgruntled)

capitate – to keep or not loose one’s head. (from decapitate)

lusional – clear in thinking or well fixed in the agreed upon reality. (from delusional)

iterate – to tell. (from reiterate)

ept – able or with an ability. (from inept)

ranged - sane, normal, unaffected. (from deranged)

vincible – able to loose or vulnerable to defeat. (from invincible)

licious – of poor culinary quality. (from delicious)

Whelmed - able to cope, in intellectual control of the material or information at hand. (from overwhelmed)

Homeowork – the point where a student is completely caught up on all their homework, and is therefore mentally stable. (from homeostais and homework)

Let me iterate to you about a FIRST regional. It takes a very lusional team to excel. A team must have a very ept robot, ranged drive team, and sheveled pit crew. It is important to remain capitate. Before leaving, it is important for students to attain homeowork, to keep their parents gruntled. Although the food at competitions can be rather licious, it is important that everybody on the team eats. It is also imperative that the team remains whelmed, or else they may become vincible.

Of pleasing appearance or character; comely; graceful; as, a goodly person; goodly raiment, houses. "The goodliest man of men since born." Milton.
Large; considerable; portly; as, a goodly number. "Goodly and great he sails behind his link." Dryden.

I have one that will make you stand on your head

snodwod

I havent decided what it really means yet, but when I decided to name my Hobie Cat (catamaran) I was trying to think of a name that would be the same upside down, so when I capsize, the name would still be right.

Only one I came up with is : pompous snodwod (now you have to stand on you head to see for yourself

pompous snodwod does have a ring to it, but I made up a different name/word for my sailboat instead.

Its officially named

HydroManiac : adj. (hi-dro-main-ee-ack)

1. having an insane passion for large quantities of liquids, esp water, ie, lakes or oceans.

2. obsessed with being on or in the water.

in honor of all those escalators in ATL, especially the ones that decided they liked to wobble; basically -ate is up, -ite is down, -break is well um break: Elescalate, Elescalite, Elesca-break, so hold on tight! (Don't ask how the extra syllable got in there; I have no idea...)

Others:
- Robotixers - essentially, FIRSTers, only with more syllables and flowier*; hopefully no example needed
- Exploratize - to run around the hotels, visiting each and every single floor, running out the elevator to see if any teams were hanging around in the hallways, and jumping back in the elevator; Ex. We ran into MOE as we were exploratizing the Omni last year.

*Flowier - not a typo for "flower," means more flowing than flowy

I made up a new word! "Tetrafication"- when one or multiple stacks of tetras come tumbling down from a goal... it is also the name of one of my works of art... yep! you guessed it, it includes our robot... lol
