I just wanted to thank everyone for making this year's Sacramento/Davis regional AWESOME.
This was my first official FIRST event volunteering, and you guys made it very easy for the most part.
Thursday I inspected robots and practically every team I had to check was great. Nobody hassled me or got defensive, refused to change things, etc. I also got to check out a whole lot of cool robots up close, something I never actually had time to do as a student on my team.
Friday and Saturday I got to referee with an awesome group of people from all over the country. Thanks to Raul for coming all the way from Illinois to help us out.
Thanks to all the teams for making our jobs as referees much easier than I expected them to be. After the first 10-15 rounds Friday penalties seemed to drop significantly. I think Saturday the whole blue side of the field only had around 5 or 6 penalties total.
This was a first week regional, and you really couldn't tell it. The field worked, we didn't have any major controversies, no huge scoring problems.
Thanks to Dan Green and Mark Leon for making the event so energy filled and exciting. You guys make one heck of an Announcer/MC combo.
And last, but not least, thanks to the Americorps people. They were given jobs they had absolutely no clue about, and had NEVER seen FIRST before, but were doing an awesome job as scorekeepers, referees, inspectors, and all sorts of other things. It was good to get to know you guys over the weekend.
