It is nice to have a programming group that listens to us drivers complain about how the robot is driving, I was wondering about any special programs you as a driver have used or would like to use in order to gain better control of the robot and its systems.
For example we are using the trigger button to slow the robot down to half speed to gain better control, we also have one of the top buttons that completely stops the motors, so that the arm driver can easily line up the arm with the goal.
We have found that these simple adjustments greatly improve driving ability, and accuracy.

i asked my programmers for a box of switches and i got my lovely box for shifting gears and some other nice goodies :D :D :D
also for my copilot some limits for our arm.

yeah we also had our programers make it so the regular joystick are half speed, the triggers are 1/4 speed and the top buttons are full. It made me happy because now its like we have a turbo button.

Team 1351 As a driver and programmer myself, I know that sometimes you want full control of the bot with no modifications. Other times, you want a lot of limits. Most of the time it depends on who is driving.

I'm the arm operator, and I worked very closely with the programmers so that I could have presets on the triggers of the two joysticks I use to operate the arm. It makes driving a lot easier. We were going to use a box, but the joysticks offer much more freedom and if we lose potentiometers (which we did during finals at BAE), I can still operate the arm.
The programmers always listen to what the drivers have to say, because they want us to have the easiest time driving that we can. Our relationship is excellent. :)
