Team 204 might be interesting in signing up.

If we should attend, I have a question.Next year I would like to become a Emcee for a regional but when I talk to the emcees this year about how to get involved, they said that I show look into helping out at an off-season event. I was wondering, if I could emcee some of the matches at the PARC, just a couple. Private message

team222badbrad

If anyone is possibly interested in volunteering for PARC, please let me know, we may have a few places where you can help out.

I have talked with Freddy204 and if anyone would also like to try out the Emcee side of things, like Freddy, to become a Emcee for FIRST please contact me also.

I have also had a few people interested in helping us tear down the field after wards, so if you are interested in that also let me know.

The current team list:

Brad has the latest up to date information on teams except for he forgot team 834.

On another note, we have had some responses about our registration page not working properly. One team tried to register using mozilla firefox and had problems. If you encounter any problems registering please contact us with symptoms of what the page is doing. I have tested the registration page and have not found any problems. We will be keeping an updated team list running in this thread, and if you don't see your team appear in a couple days, please contact us.

Thanks,
Cliff

Hey
My team and I went there last year and you guys did a good job putting the whole thing together. We're not going this year because (go figure) the senior graduation is on the very same day. Plus, the remaining non-senior members don't want to make the 3 hour haul to Tunkhannock for a mere
day-long competition. No offense or nothin...but you know how it is.

See you next year or maybe at nationals.
Oh yeah, curry donuts rules. Yeah you know what I mean.

plutonium83, we apologize for PARC being the weekend of SAT II's, but we run into things every year. That's kind of why we have always stuck to the day before mother's day. As far teams attending, 191 is unable to attend, but 1218 has taken the spot they held. Still plenty of spots for teams. Bug your mentors and teachers today, get them to sign up ASAP! See you all at the PARC

I just finished the "training session" with the MC's for park, and I must say that It's going to be amazing!

You're MC's are: Myself, The Voice of NJ
From 204, The Let's Go Man, the Vikingantor: Freddy Schurr
From 103, Ms. PG, Jessjank: Jess Jankowitsch

On behalf of all of the MC's I want this to be the most amazing off season competition this year and we'll see you all at the PARC

Lil' Lavery
26-04-2005, 20:58
Im sorry to say that 116 will not be attending. We were considering it for a while, but then we realised its right in between the 2 weeks of AP testing, so its a no go. Sorry, and have fun.

team222badbrad
27-04-2005, 00:10
SAT's and AP's what else are you going to throw at us?

You really think those tests are more important/fun that attending a robotics competition?

;)

George thanks for heading up the MC training session for PARC, your help is greatly appreciated.

Anyway, back to the busiest next 2 weeks of my life. (last week of spring semester, finals, work, and PARC)

27-04-2005, 01:08
Unfortunatly Team 1071 looks like we won't be returning. We really want to go but the logistics of getting the robot back from Atlanta and the fact we won't raise enough money in time is why we're not going to my understanding, had it been 2-3 weeks later it would have been a different story..

Good luck this year, PARC was awsome last year and if a team has the money I'd say it's a must attend event.

I will be bringing my video capture and audio mixer equipment to PARC this year. :D

8-CH mixer 1/4" & RCA plugs
6 CH amp RCA plugs
24-port hub 10/100 Managed
4-port router 10/100/1000
scan converter
2 Capture cards and servers (1 capture, 1 tuner)
Lots of cables & adapters of all kinds (RCA, coax, Ethernet, audio)
tools for Ethernet and coax cables
RF-modulator

George A.
27-04-2005, 01:59
So does this mean that you'll be making a PARC highlight video? If so i'll step my performance up another level to make it good ;)

Update: Team 816 will not be attending, but add team #11 and team #1676 to the PARC VIII List We have a busy week ahead of us, keep the teams coming. Still waiting to hear from a couple seasoned veterans of PARC. See you all at the PARC!!

Re: Qualification Alliance Selection

Dear Sir or Madam,

I beg to bring to your attention a grievous miscarriage of randomization which, to date, has gone unchecked. To wit:
2005 NJ Regional matches, 103 v 56: 5 (6 incl. replay); 103 & 56: 0
2005 Phl Regional matches, 103 v 56: 2; 103 & 56: 0
2005 Galileo matches, 103 v 56: 2; 103 & 56: 0
Let me do the sums for you: matches against: 9; matches together: 0
I trust you will agree that enough is enough! Please look into this matter and make the appropriate (random, of course) adjustments.

Thank you.

We're glad to see 56 as well as all of our returning and new teams, it's too bad we chose a bad weekend...oh well still lots of great teams.

Petek: As far as Mr. Randomizer goes, we use the same system FIRST uses, but I'll be sure to keep your post in mind when we setup the matches and see what happens from there.

Well the excitement has set in, the arena is arriving tonight at the school, tomorrow we will be working with the control system and testing the software, Thursday night we setup the field, and then Friday we finalize the wiring on the field & set up the pits. It's gonna be an exciting/tiring week hope it all pays off with every team having a blast!

Our team has also noticed this kind of scenario over the past 4 years, mainly because I point it out so much. I understand why and some teams may not like it but it is the way it has to be. I believe, and this is in no way fact, its just my opinion, that the randomizer uses the actual numbers of teams as part of the randomization. ie: team 11 and team 25 have played each other countless times, but to my knowledge have only been together once. If you notice in the practice matches, you may have more "favorable" alliance partners or more "less favorable" depending on your team number. It just seems to me that they dont want teams 1,2 and 3 paired up against 1699, 1700 and 1701. They tend to push the extremes (high and low) together to keep a balance...I dont know, I could be insane...

CANT WAIT TIL PARC!

The one time i know we were together was last year at PARC as an eliminations round alliance. Past that what you said is basically right, according to what i know.

And i am dying in anticipation. It is going to be soo much fun. I can not wait.

Actually, in 2002 at the MidAtlantic Regional team 84 selected team 25 and team 11 as their alliance partners for the finals. So, you have deffinately played some time together before making it to Regional Finalists. ;)

See you all at PARC!

George A.

I remember that! We won the semifinals by 1 point. I didn't think we would get picked, but sometimes you are pleasantly surprised in FIRST!

As for the randomization aspect I have also noticed the strage matchings between teams, where some teams never seem to be together, and some teams are always against each other...I don't know what to make of it, but it does give teams to put on a good showing!

3 days left till the Voice of NJ hits PARC! I can't wait.

Yess! I remember that, it was my freshman year. The 1 time team 11 and team 25 were paired up in a computer randomized match was last year at the chesepeake regional...the last qualification match we had. We then were put against each other in the quarter finals. The pushing battles we had were great, those were some of the most exciting matches I've seen.

Maybe PARC can exceed it??? Most likely!

If I recall at PARC last year, it was 25, 1403 and 11 teamed up. Those were some fun matches. 25 and 11 were broken and they played the game a little differently than it was meant to be played :D . Good times.

Yuppers. All this is true. A great day for us obviously, couldnt be happier.

Throughout the day we were having technical issues, and letting some rookie drivers test out their skills. We ended the day with 2 qualification match wins and 5 losses.

Thanks to 103 and 56 for picking us. Whoever you picked really didnt matter though, it was a done deal. You guys are insane.

Thanks to 222 for running an amazing event. This was the first FIRST event i ever attended that ran AHEAD of schedule. Great Job.

Yep, it was a great day... Thank you 56 and 103 for picking us and thank you 222 for hosting such a great event. We really enjoyed it, especially since its the last time some of the seniors(not me) can drive and meet old friends. Good times... sharpie fest...

PARC was very entertaining. Good matches and good times with good friends ( I sure hope Dez and his crew got back safe. Elgin and Ashley were out by the end of the day. Ashley slept through the whole tournament. It's all those Krispy Kreames. That sugar high is enough to make you reach the stars but those lows go deep like a melancholy soul.)
I think FIRST found it's next superstar announcer in Jess. The Kelly Ripa of FIRST announcers. :p

Thanks to THS and the Tigertrons for putting on a great event. This was the best-run FIRST event I've been to. Oh, yeah, it wasn't a FIRST event, was it? No wonder it went so smoothly!

I was able to capture the entire event, as far as I know, (didn't have a chance to watch the video yet.) Other than a few times when the camera went off, which is no problem cause I can just edit those scenes out.

It took almost 3 hours to packup all my equipment i had behind the control table. FYI other than a small video camera of my team, all the equipment on and in the general area of the patch panel was mine. LOL

I'd like to thank everyone who helped out at PARC.

Congratulations to teams 103, 56 and 25 for putting together an overpowering alliance.

Team 341 also had a great day on the field going 6 and 1 and placing as the #3 Seed. We would just like to thank our alliance partners, Teams 61 and 284, for putting up a valiant fight, right up until our last semi-final match.

Mmm, was so good to get SLEEP. Just crawled out of bed, and had to read talk on Delphi. Many of you know how horrible and long my finals week was, thanks for pulling me through!

Now on to the good stuff!...

Tigertrons, once again hands down an amazing event. Way to go guys, can't wait to see what could happen later on if you are already turning gears in your mind about PARC X so soon!

To the PARC VIII Champions 103, 56, and 25 Congratulations! 103, a beautiful auton, everyone watch out for these guys throughout all of the post season. 56, if they can get stacking, they will keep sacking, and stacking, and stack........ :yikes: Congratulations!

To our young driver team, YOU were able to pull off FINALISTS! Congratulations CHUCK and team 84! Congrats to the seniors it was nice to see some of you have a chance in the player station, who never were able to step foot in prior. Best of Luck to the underclassmen in what you will bring with Chuck X next year!!! :D

Thank you to our alliance partners 176 and 204 for accepting our offer to join us in the finals. We couldn't have done it without you guys! Best of luck throughout the rest of the post season.

Yeah - it looked like a Sharpie Nor'easter hit Tunkhannock today.

I didn't think it was QUITE that bad. Of course, Corey and Elgin might think otherwise. I think the next FIRST off-season I attend I might have to watch my back. I definitely got some people who didn't get me back :D

It was a really fun event though. PARC has always been nicely run, the one's I've attended anyway. Congrats to 103, 56, and 25. That was a wicked alliance if I've ever seen one. Here's to a repeat!

And I got all the sharpie off my face, except one pink stripe. Only a little more scrubbing...

103, 56, and 25 way to go, you were tough defenders in the final match.

I personally would like to thank 84 and 176 for choosing for the alliance. We made to the finals, and we really show that we should be reckon with Out of everything we did this year, by far this was the greatest accomplishment of the year. Since this is my last year on the team, I really proud that we could ended it off with bang. Thanks again

I would like to thank George and Jess for helping putting a great event together. I had a lot of fun mcing and can't wait to see what else is in store for these two great people.

Last by not least, the Tiger trons for putting a great event together and for letting me MC. This was by far, the BEST off-season competition yet.

PARC was once again a great off season competition. This was my last time being around the robot in a competition setting as a student and I had a great time. Being able to see all of my friends again was great, meeting people from CD that I haven't met before and having some great talks with KoKo ed, something that everyone should get a chance to do because hes a great man to talk to and full of great stories and ideas. Plus I got to sharpie Corey and get sharpied my self. Thank you to team 222 for running an amazing event and congratulations to teams 103, 56 and 25 for winning and making it look easy.

I had a great time, had the chance to talk to Koko Ed again, which was fun, and I got to meet a few CDer's who I have yet to meet. Also I got to see all of my friends again. Well I wouldn't reccomend doing any more rolls towards the other side of the field. That could get pretty dangerous. ;)

I think the MCing and DJing was good all day, except, before you give the Go for a match to start, make sure both sides and referees are ready - and people are totally off the field. This one match a GO was given and people literally flew off the field because they thought autonomous was starting lol.

Well other than my misidentification you did great. You spoke clearly and consicely. You didn't try to impose any faux excitment into the match and just simply let the excitment of FIRST sell itself. You did a great job.

I was reffing and had gone to get my water bottle while they got the next round ready, when I heard Jess announcing the alliances and starting the countdown. The look on the faces of the team members who were still setting their 'bots was priceless! They all flew off the field, practically jumping over each other in their haste. Hey PARC teams, I gotta question for you

THANKSAll of you have found your calling. The MCing and announcing was as good as any event I can recall this year. You kept it lively without going overboard and the energy level was especially good considering the size of the crowd.

Minor suggestions:
When introducing teams, throw in something about their season or some other color commentary every so often. You could ask teams to give you some tidbits, like you did for robot names.
I'd like to see the MCs spend more time on the field carrying on, but I heard that you were asked not to do too much of that so they could keep on schedule.
I never would have thought I'd ever say this, but Jess could have been louder.

I thought George, Jess, and Freddy did GREAT! Each of you had a few mistakes, but practice makes perfect, so if you keep on at what all three of you are doing you will be even better!

Keep up the awesome work!

:o ooooooooops... haha. What can I say, I was waaaaaaaaay too excited for my own good and well, I messed up a little and nearly got a few people run over by robots and such... and for my first time MCing I didn't do tooooo bad, right? ;) haha. Sorry to all those people who suddenly had their lives flash in front of them!

MCing was absolutely fantastic! I finally had the opportunity to put all that excessive energy to use! :D I had so much fun working with George and Freddy (You guys were awesome!) and the competition was great! I especially enjoyed sending back and forth some interesting messages between opposing alliances (you’re INDEED very welcome Mike! hehe). Despite my “little” mess up in the first round of the semifinals, I've actually been offered the opportunity to MC at Brunswick Eruption, go figure! ;) If you get the chance, come see me there... I promise there will be no such repeat of the PARC "3 2 1 GO!" incident, but it will hopefully be decently entertaining, so come check it out! And Pete, I will definitely try to be louder!!!

The prolonging of the “sharpie wars” into PARC was pretty crazy. Corey and Brat played some nice strategy against me, but I’d definitely have to say Corey was once again mutilated with sharpie marks. Thank you Bharat, Sara, and Kyle for teaming up on me and giving the nice little “pre-mother’s day gift” of I LOVE YOU MOM written in pretty magenta sharpie marker on my forehead… it came off thankfully, hehe.

Thank you to everyone from 222 for making PARC such a fantastic event! Thank you also to 56 and 25 for being awesome alliance partners! I know that 103 was certainly very excited to FINALLY have to opportunity to play with 56 and put together a great alliance. Congratulations to all the teams who participated! It was truly an amazing event!

Does anybody have a full elimination bracket and the order in which teams were selected (IE 56 goes first, etc)?

Thanks,
Daniel

This is in order in which teams were picked in each alliance:

1. 103 - 56 - 25
2. 84 - 176 - 204
3. 341 - 61 - 284

6. 1218 - 145 - 1640
7. 11 - 433 - 1143
8. 316 - 222 - 225

The order of the pickings, not organized by alliance, is:
56, 176, 61, 834, 365, 145, 433, 222, 25, 204, 284, 1048, 487, 1640, 1143, 225

I have attached all the results from PARC.

I was going to edit the scoring data to make it more readable, but I am going to leave it up to you to figure out what some of those numbers mean.

It is easy to find the match scores, just ignore the other random numbers.

Good Luck
