We were out on the field, our ally was dead so it was just us versus team 100 and some other team. We drove past their robot, turned around, then BAM!!! we crashed into their robot! we slowly pulled out and eased our robot away but suddenly we grabbed onto their battery. next thing you know their battery is on the floor and we were disqualified.
my god the horror:eek:
battery on the floor?!?
that seems SO unlikely to happen!
probably the battery didn't have protection around it and was loose, and your robot had a claw and ran really fast into the other robot, and even with all this situation it's still unlikely to happen.
I remember that match at VCU. I don't think your team should have been DQ'ed. It just happened so fast that all they saw was you pull away with their battery. If the batter did not come out of their robot they would have been entangled with you and that would cause them to be DQed.

Was this at VCU? I was under the impression that this round happened in San Jose... Anyways, it's harsh, but that's how things go sometimes... =\ You just have to take bad luck in stride, and try to roll with the blows.

Sounds like the other team should get DQed for not having their battery secured.

This happened to us last year at chicago, we went up the ramp and the battery didnt :( . Moral of the story make sure your battery is firmly secured.
Azn_Dawg16 is right. This match did happen at San Jose. I forgot we wen't to 2 regionals and I got them mixed up.
Thanks for pointing that out

that is far from your fault man
our battery is in there as tight as possible, we cut up a shotgun bandaleir for our "battery seat belt"
Batteries should be secure. Its the other teams own fault, too bad for them, sorry for them too. But, you should not have been DQ'd in my opinion, unless my battery is takin out, then you should be DQ'd! (LOL)

ya it should have been secured but I still felt bad.
right after it happened they were looking at me all pissed i was actually sort of scared. they all had these huge orange hats that made taller and intimidating.

They're nice people they won't kill you, too badly :)
Sounds like a freak accident to me. But I do know that we were warned once for having our goal grabber down while pushing on other robots.
I guess that's just how things go.
Ouch... that really has to hurt. Good thing we strap down our battery pretty tight. It's also difficult to get out, I doubt it would ever fall out on its own...

It started as a 2 on 1 handicap match. If we took out one robot... mathematically, it would become a 1 on 1 match. Thus, it would've be fair. I don't think those officials can add and subtract.
This is and OUTRAGE to GREASMONKEYS and BEANERS alike!!!

sorry about that "vincendini" is one of our "special members," we try to not let him out much.

I think Vincendini is right, in a strange sort of way. The match SHOULD'VE continued, it was still a 1 on 1 match.

At the CR's the inspectors were hard-'bummed' when it came to the battery being secure.
You have to slice and dice your hand to take it out, but they said that it wasn't secure (beleive me it was)...But I guess from their point of view they don't want to see this kind of accednt happening...
But I don't see how the Ref's could blame you for their battery aparently not being secure...
But I guess that's the way it works sometimes...Can't do much about it.

If you had fun....that's all that matters. I saw the match from the bleachers. You guys looked great in those uniforms. Maybe our team could do a similar thingy next year. Party on dud-ets!!!
Hehehe I remember that match. All of you guys are right. We didnt have our battery properly secured. We had a zip-tie around the connector and it was sitting in a tray, which was the extent it was secured to. Needless to say we immediately went back to the pits and devised a system that will never let go. By the way, we were never mad =) you gave us lotsa points, and since our robot liked to sporadically run except for when we needed it, we wouldnt have gotten many points. Well have to get more big orange hats so we can intimidate our way to the top! One person said that we could have been DQ'ed if our battery had not come out for entanglement. How is this so? If they reached in there and got stuck how is that our fault. Just curious if anyone can answer that.
