Would someone please tell me titles of songs that are played at the regionals? I enjoy some of that music and would like to obtain some of them for my personal use but some of the songs are not from my generation. :) Thanks, Dave

Thanks Goobergunch, next time I will do a better job searching. :yikes:
early on, at NJ, it seemed like all they had was a VH cd
I wasn't complaining
Some Zepp wouldve been nice, though

old 90's songs mostly
the most noticable thing is when they play the cha cha slide and everyone goes "everybody clap your hands!" and then everyone does like every single person its awesome

I think the YMCA is a bit more noticable. Even the older people (new mentors, parents, grandparents, etc.) who don't know most of the other songs get involved with the YMCA. :D

MWR they played UNEDITED versions of mostly green day.

At Chesapeake it was a bunch of older stuff, not my cup of tea. I cant believe they played Bull**** though. I found that amazing to hear.
But at Philly there was enough techno to keep me happy. Some of the tracks I recognized a bassline from the song in the pits and would go out front and figure out what it was. Some of the ones I recognized was,
Darude - Sandstorm (of course...)
Alice Deejay - Back in my Life
Ferry Corsten - Punk (this surprised me, on of my favorites, but a little to hard for most people. Good timing with it to, during one of our matches when I was working the arm)
Armin vanBuuren - Rapture (no sure what mix, also have seen "Lio" as artist on this one)
Thats all I can remember as far as techno
But some of the other ones...
Vengaboys - We Like to Party
Vengaboys - Boom Boom Boom Boom ( I can't believe they played this one... its absolutely filthy ... absolutely great beat though, so who cares... :D )
I think I also heard Aqua - Barbie girl
dave, if you are looking for the songs they played at peachtree, ask those of us that payed attention... though the chicken dance and cha-cha slide did make appearances. If you are looking for other regionals, good luck

Joe P, I was looking for what I had heard at the Peachtree & Boilermaker Regionals. Basically though, Goobergunch gave me a good thread to check out. Thanks, Dave

There is a person who plays the music at the regionals. This person is not one of the A/V guys, but usually sits near them. Asking him while you are there will be the best way to get the song titles, then write them down.
That doesn't work so well now that the regionals are past, but for future reference. :)
Also, if you remember the chorus or the grab line, stick that into Google along with lyric. It works surprising well.

Okay, here's one for you techno fans out there:
At the Midwest Regional, there was some good techno music played during the eliminations (espeically semis and finals). It wasn't your typical FIRST techno though...not the stuff you here over and over. There is one song in particular I am very interested in and had totally forgotten about it until I heard it at the start of the Nuggets/Spurs game tonight.
It wasn't played during a match specifically (its not on any of the SOAP videos), but between matches. I do not recall if it wsa between finals or between semifinals, or before the awards though. It was pretty simple:
The most obvious part of the song was a single note melody, kind of a buzzy high note, over a fairly simple bassline. There were disco-esque stabs here and there as well.
I'll try and post my interpretation of it in hopes to jar a few memories.
Thanks in advance,
Kevin
I think you're probably talking about the song Sirius. It's played at alot of sporting events (especially basketball games), and has been played before the finals start at the Arizona Regional every time I've been to it.
I was rather happy when I was watching the NASA Broadcast of Nationals (since we couldn't go) to hear the song Lazy Jones. I've been hoping for a while FIRST would play it somewhere, but I've never heard it until then.

Of music, all I remember is the YMCA over and over again, at reigonals, and then they played...
the Numa Numa song.
Wooooooooooooooow... the surprising part was that everyone I inquired about recognized it, so I guess internet fame really spreads into real life?

Nope, neither is what I am referring to.
This is a techno song that has come out in the last year or two.
I have not heard the song used at any other sporting event than the Nuggets game last night (it was played again at the start of the fourth quarter). I am not sure if it is something they always use or just for last night.
Thanks for trying though,
Kev

A great techno song that is played at every first venue and everyone knows (but doesn't usually know the title) is Zombie Nation by Kernkraft 400.
There's also:
2 Unlimited "There's No Limit"
Basement Jaxxx "Where's Your Head At?"
Junior Senior "Move Your Feet"
Blur "Song 2"
Crystal Waters "100% Pure Love"
Freak Nasty "Da Dip"
Rednex "Cotton Eye Joe"
Casper "Cha Cha Slide"
Harry Belafonte "Hot Hot Hot"
Most of those were played at the Philli Regional this year.
(They played the Numa Numa song in Galileo before the finals matches...at least, I think that's when it was)
I'm also attaching the list I made from the FIRST Music Playlist thread. It's a compliation of the songs I've heard at regionals and the songs Chiefdelphi members want played. :)

I met the music DJ at the Rochester Finger Lakes Regional.
He did confirm that there was an "approved" playlist as he (or FIRST) had to acquire the rights to play the tunes at a public venue. Remember, these things are indeed copyrighted (hint, hint).
So, I'll see if FIRST responds with the full list. It's then your responsibility to go and buy the music if your're using it for your highlights videos and/or commercial purposes.
By the way, what they heck is the name of that Latin song that got onto the webcam from the guy in New Jersey; they did play that at Nationals.
Music review of three regionals and Nationals:
1) Finger lakes. Great "mosh pit" for line dancing. lot's of Cotton Eye Joe
2) Cleveland. HUGE dancing in the stands; really rocked for dancing, but lots of YMCA
3) Toronto. Lot's of more techno but lower volume; great international flavor
4) Nationals....not crazy enough. Sound on Newton arena was muted much of the time.
Oh well. I'm dialing up the dial now......

One of my favorites to hear is Mister Roboto from Styx. They are one of my all time favorite bands to listen to. Other songs that I like can come from AC/DC.

Any progress finding the name of this song? I know exactly what you're talking about. I first heard it last year during a timeout in one of the Lakers/Pistons Finals games. I don't think there are any words to it, making it impossible to find.

If anyone can tell me what song this (http://69.56.171.55/~midibox/midibox_sid/mbsid_demo3.mp3) is, you'd be the first of about 65 so far...

That song is Kernkraft 400 by Zombie Nation
I've also seen it under the title of "Lazy Jones". I heard it off of the feed from Nationals this year.
