I just want to say congratulations to Mr. Al Skierkiewicz for winning the regional WFA Award at the midwest regional. While I have never met him before, I have been fortunate enough to have been helped by him on these forums, as have many others. I just want to say THANK YOU for being such a wonderful mentor to all of those who have been affected by your advice and expertise - on these forums and elsewhere. You deserve this award so so much. Thank you for inspiring me and others to become better leaders in FIRST - and elsewhere.

Everyone, please join me in a "round of Chief Delphi forum applause" and say congratulations to Mr. Al Skierkiewicz for winning this prestegious, and well deserved award.

I was sitting in the stands typing out some autonomous code during the award ceremony today and when they announced Al winning, i dropped the laptop and stood up and started cheering.

This award couldn't have gone to a more deserving person, and an awesome inspector ;)

Al,

I had the wonderful opportunity to meet you briefly at the Championships last year. You were nice; it was difficult for me to speak up because I'm shy, but I'm glad I did. You were very nice to me (and Greg and Cheryl) and from what I've seen on Chief Delphi, and from you in person, you are well deserving of this award.

Very well done and congrats to the rest of WildStang on having such an outstanding role model!

Best of luck and we'll see you in Atlanta!

Al's expert advice and assistance has helped many a team get their robot running (mine included). When I was with 201 last year, and our swerve drive wouldn't run, a friendly gentleman in tye-dye was there to lend us a helping hand. Congratulations on a well-deserved honor, Al!

Hey Dad! Way to go! I guess it's good you got it considering neither Mark or I are on the team anymore. I swear, you're going to be retired and you're still going to be a big part of WildStang! Congratulations!

Karen.

Al,
I've already told you congrats in person, but i dont think it can be said enough, CONGRATS CONGRATS CONGRATS! You definately deserved this one, your amazing, all that you've given to all of us, all the time you've put in, your commitment, your dedication, your understanding and above all, how much you care. Your willingness to help out any team that you can, constantly inspires me to do as much as I can. Thanks again Big Al. You rock my socks off.

Congratulations Al. Well deserved. You make us all proud.

It has been great working with you and getting to know you over the past year - amazing that a gig with a wanna-be band can start a great friendship. :)

Congrats Al!

Very much deserved. Your contributions here on CD, as well as the rest of FIRST, have been very valuable. I am glad I finally got to meet you in person at the Boilermaker Regional. Hope to see you in Atlanta.

Thanks everyone for the great comments. Here it is two days later and I still cannot believe it. The students on Wildstang kept their choice a secret and even my wife didn't know. Thank you to all the people who congratulated me at the Midwest Regional, it was like having a birthday party (a really big one) with all the friends a guy could want. In addition, a great award is made greater when it is presented by WFA winners. You can't imagine what it is like to walk up and have Bill Beatty, Andy Baker and Ken Patton waiting to hand you a special award and to congratulate you in person. Add to that becoming part of a group of individuals that includes friends like Paul Copioli, Jay Tenbrink, Darryl Noble, Sean Schuff, Scott Ritchie, Dave Lavery and all the others I am proud to know and those I have yet to meet.
Good luck to you all and I hope to see you in Atlanta.

Congratulations Al! I just returned from the Denver regional (and congratulations to Jesse Johnson for receiving the Denver WFA), and saw that you had won the Midwest WFA. Watching you in action with Wildstang at IRI and other events has provided a wonderful opporutnity to see the passion and excitement that you bring to your team. And your words of wisdom on this forum make clear your skill as an educator and informed source of knowledge. Your WFA is well deserved!

Al, my friend, you deserve this award more than can be expressed in words.

For those of you who have not met Al, make it a priority at the Championship or any other time you have the chance. If you want to guarantee a meet with Al, then break something electrical on your robot. He will swoop in out of nowhere and help you before you even know you have a problem (it is a special gift). Seriously, when I grow up (or if I grow up) I want to be just like Al.

Congratulations and good luck in Atlanta.

-Paul
