View Full Version : 2005 Philadelphia Regional Thanks and Congrats
WOW, that is the only way I can describe Philly regional. The teams were so competitive, it was the hardest regional I have ever been to or ever seen.
I want to thank Teams 56 and 316 for being the most awesome, yes most awesome, alliance partners. They did such a great job of playing a clean game and putting up the top two highest scores for the regional.
Teams 358 293 and 834, Wow, I have never seen an alliance drive so well and defend and score at the same time like you guys. In the finials you gave us a huge run for our money. I am upset that there was a DQ in the finials on you guys, I would have liked to gone to three rounds against you guys, but I am not sure that our drivers feel the same way. :) awesome Job guys you were amazing.
The volunteers there were great and ran a very smooth regional. Everyone knew what to do and when to do it.
The Troy family from team 357 had alot of volunteers that were doing a great job, yes i mean you Mrs. Troy :)
The FIRST staff that was there was, like always, a great group of people. Very helpful and always there to talk or answer questions or just to talk to people.
All the teams who were near us in the pits or the stands for putting up with the sea of MOE people that were flooding the arena.
Thank you Jess from 103 for cheering for us during the finials , And all the people and Teams that cheered us on today.
Thank you to all the great teams who were there and I cant wait to see you at Nats or next year at Philly!
/edit/ Last night i was so tired I forgot to thank some people that very awesome at Philly, The judges, These people took time off from work to volunteer for one of the hardest positions at a FIRST competition. I want to thank each and every one of the judges that were at Philly, and a special thanks to those Judges who frequent these forums, Thank you so much! Philly was the most amazing experience of my life, I will never forget the last three days. So once again Thank you, Thank you Thank you.

My list isn't nearly as long as Kyle's.
Obviously, we need to thank everyone who volunteered and worked organizing this, because there wouldn't have been a regional this year without you guys. Also, thanks to 365/56/316, 358/293/834, 571/181/381, and 1184/103/(sorry, don't remember this team name...6 hour bus ride back has scrambled my brain.) for putting on an amazing series of semifinal and final matches for us to watch.

Simply stated, Team 56 at the present time does not have the necessary funds to go to nationals. If anyone can help us out in any way possible, please do not hesitate to contact us. And once again, thank you to team 571, who readily stated they would contribute to our efforts to enter nationals. Overall, philly was an awesome regional, 365 and 316, you both played very well.

Props for everyone there, it was a tough regional and the entire finals were intense. 56 no hard feelings for flipping you, I only intended to push you out of the way, not to put you on your side. Congrats to MOE you guys epitomize FIRST in every way and I hope to be pitted next to you again in Atlanta.

I have to say that I couldn't have asked for a better final regional as a member of Cybersonics, team 103. The competition was absolutely fantastic! I met and had the opportunity to talk with so many amazing people and watch some excellent matches.
First off, an immense thank you to all the judges, volunteers, referees, and all the people who made the event happen! Thank you to all of the teams who participated in the competition, as well as to my friends from 25 and 1089 who came to the event despite the fact that they weren't competing there simply to watch and cheer on other teams!
All teams should be congratulated on their amazing efforts. Massive congratulations of course to the winning alliance, 365, 56, and 316, as well as the finalists, 358, 293, and 834! You all played with such passion and fervor, and made the finals truly exciting to watch and cheer in. Congratulations to all the teams for their magnificent performances throughout the qualifying rounds, quarterfinals, and semifinals. And thank you to 1184 and 484 for being awesome alliance partners! It was truly a blast!
Massive congratulations to 365 for also taking home the Woodie Flower's Award and the Chairman's Award! (Congrats Kyle! I know how hard you and your team worked for it! GO MOE!) They are truly an amazing team and highly deserving of all three honors they received during the competition. Congratulations to 357 for receiving the honor of the Engineering Inspiration Award and to all of the other award winners! Congratulations to all teams, whether or not you were presented with an award! You should all be extremely proud of yourselves for all of your hard work and dedication, or, as 103 often likes to put it, vision, passion, and commitment!
I also must give a huge thanks to my team. I have been so very blessed to have the opportunity to work with such an amazing and diverse group of people throughout my four years on 103 and I love you all dearly. You have made my time as team president such a worthwhile experience and I am truly proud to be a part of our family. I can’t say enough to express how impressed I am with everything each and every one of you has accomplished! I’m looking to forward to another amazing competition with you all in a few short weeks down in Atlanta! Time to go have some more fun!
Though I won't be back as a member of 103 next season since I'll be heading off to college, I hope to return to Philadelphia as a volunteer and truly cannot wait! Massive luck to everyone who still has competitions to attend this year and congratulations to those who have already wrapped up their season! Thank you everyone for so far making this a truly spectacular robotics season!
I would REALLY like to thank Claire, Colin, and Angel who were my queuers. And dealt with me after three days of me stressing-out :ahh: [I'll be sleeping as much as I physically can today], and my color-coordinated elimination round cards. And also our daily pit-announcers [as we never had the same person 2 days in a row]
I hope to return to Philadelphia as a volunteer and truly cannot wait!
Want to Queue? I'm pretty sure Philly will have me Heading that up again after some of the props i was getting from the organizers during finals.

i agree with Kyle. The Philly regional was an amazing event! Our team was on the edge of our seats during alliance picks. Finally, the last alliance picks their 3rd team. Right before they did, both members looked RIGHT AT US. We were thinking "They looked at us, we're gonna get picked!" and we were! THANK YOU SO MUCH 341 and 304! We haad so much fun. Sorry about our robot's failure :( I heard that there was a bad radio or something. But it was a great regional nonetheless. Congrats 365 for Chairmans! GJ 365, 56, and 316 on winning! Hope to see you guys next year for another awesome regional!

Kyle, I would like to personally thank you for thanking me for volunteering, but, I must add that without the help of 100+ volunteers this regional would not have been a success.
We must congratulate Carol Kauffman, Louisa Hanshew & Carol O'Shields for giving their time so unselfishly to plan such an awesome event. Hats off to Ann Larkin & Maureen Weiss for gathering such a fine group of volunteers as the "Volunteer Coordinators". To Melissa, Andrea, John Eppley, Brenda Eppley and JJ Eppley who did a great job keeping everything running so smoothly.
To Sunny, John, Adam, Joe Jr., Cassandra, and the other refs that had the difficult job of keeping the game fun & safe. To Steve, Mike, Sara, Bill & Eric for doing a terrific job with scoring. Matt & Hope from Innovation First for all your time, energy and graciousness. Judges with Jerry heading up your group, once again another tough job well done.
Finally to all who volunteered their time Thank you. Without you we would not have been able to pull this regional off. You are so appreciated.
Lastly, to the teams thank you for your gracious professionalism. You are what FIRST is all about. Thank you for making our jobs all the easier.

Well, did I make a huge blunder.......in all my thanks I forgot a couple of KEY people:
First, let me thank Drexel University and their staff for allowing us to use their facility once again.
Secondly, to Jim Moore - for making sure that the venue was a safe place for us to compete.
Thirdly, to Frank Larkin & Ron Partridge......way to go guys.....a very difficult job to do...........Thank you!
Lastly, if I did forget anyone else........sorry!

Thank you so much to everyone that made this regional possible. It was one of the best regionals that I have been to and was tons of fun. If at all possible, 571 will be attending for years to come.
Congratulations to 365, 56, and 316 for their win and for a strong semifinal battle with us. The second and third rounds were terrific and I was glad to be a part of them. It was well fought and you did a great job despite our alliance's best efforts. I know that you will all do well at nationals and I am sorry that we will not be there to join and watch you. Also congratulations again to 365 for their Chairman's award and for their mentor's WFA.
Thanks to 181 and 381 for an awesome alliance. It worked out great and we hope to see you in the offseason and at regionals next year to continue working with you guys.
A final thank you to all volunteers that gave their time to make the regional possible. The referees and judges were great, as was everyone else that helped run the event smoothly.
o yea firebirds u left ur poster/tarp/thing that u put up in the stands to emphasize ur team at drexel we picked it up for ya just so u no
Oh thanks! We'll have to swing by sometime and pick it up!
Like Karen and Alicia said, thanks to 1218 and 1402 for picking us. Thanks to Alicia, Karen and Arielle - I'll never forget our own strategy sessions! Thanks to my whole team for their support and dedication!
Congrats to 365, 56 and 316 - you all had great robots!
Thanks to all the volunteers and judges. Thanks also to our team mentors for teaching us so much. Thanks to the "seniors" from our team who came back and supported us.
Thanks to 708 for the shirts and flowers; good luck and thanks to 1531; thanks to 304 for the note they left on my car (I thought it was a ticket - what a pleasant surprise!) Thanks to all the other friends we met! I had an awesome time in Philly - can't wait for nationals!!!

Wow, Philly was great this year! I'd like to take this time to thank everyone that worked so hard to make the Philadelphia Regional possible. A big congrats to 365, 56, 316 on winning the regional. Congrats to all the teams that competed, especially our alliance partners 87 and 211. We gave it our all. Can't wait to see everyone at nationals! (I heart MOE). :D

Congratulations to all the teams who competed at Drexel, but especially the Regional Champions 365, 56, & 316. You guys have consistently top-notch robots, were a tough bunch to go against and your win is well earned.
834 had a joystick failure in the finals and MOE loaned them a replacement. We couldn’t have competed without MOE’s help. Way to go to with your own Triple-Play of Chairman’s, Woodie Flowers, and Regional Champion.
56, I hope you pull the funding together so we see you in Atlanta too!
I loved the rapid-fire tetra capping and the dynamic swings in tic-tac-toe scores especially from the quarterfinals all the way through finals. No boring bits there! Especially some of those really tall leaning-towers of tetras. I’m really surprised more of them didn’t topple over.
There were so many Philly volunteers, field crew, crowd control, inspectors, judges, referees, scorers, sound, video, and on and on. They were quick, swift and professional at keeping the matches on time and moving along, handing out awards to deserving teams and recovering from technical issues like the scoring system. My thanks go out to all of you for your dedication and again making Philly such a wonderful experience for us all.
Belated thanks and congratulations for the Philly Regional.
365 and 56 - Sometimes you compete with other teams and sometimes you are alliance partners. Ours was truly an alliance and for that I'm appreciative.
538, 293, and 834 - You were tough opponents and yes, a third match would have been nice.
538 - What a great tetra handler - simple and effective. GREAT job re-scoring the blue tetra you accidently descored against us in the finals. Kudos to your drive team.
834 - Your silence speaks well of your gracious professionalism.
222 and 341 - Two consecutive regionals without partnering? Maybe Atlanta's the charm - How about Saturday afternoon, say 3:30ish????
1391 - Another fine showing from the Metal Moose.
Thanks to the FIRST staff and volunteers.
Dean - Don't move the Philly regional. The small venue of Drexel is part of the magic!
