This is a White Paper from Rage about FIRST. I have a copy of this on the wall. Reading CD lately, we all need a copy handy.
http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/papers.php?s=&action=single&paperid=292
When I was putting that white paper together last year I took those sentiments from RAGE team members and from Chief Delphi members.
I am one of the worst offenders - I am criticized for seeing the glass as "half empty" all the time... but thanks to many wonderful "see the glass as half-full" people here on CD, I am reminded over and over again about the fantastic benefits of this program.

I have that on my wall as well (and even added a few of my own!). I can remember doing something like that my senior year in high school, but I believe it was more a list of all of the crazy memories.
I think with everything going on, and especially a lot of the venting in CD (im guilty too!), we need to step back and look at the whole. One thing that has truely helped me do that this year is looking at the rookie teams. My own rookie team has been such an inspiration to me. They are so new to it, yet every day they suprise me with something new, or with new enthusiasm.
So for any of you who need that little boost... take a look at this paper, and look at the rookie teams. Remember what it was like your first year, and your team's first year. I have to say those are the best years, the innocence and excitement is all so new :)

i love this! we have it on our pit wall....always will stay there and everytime i see it i reread it....thanks RAGE!
it's so true and makes you reflect and think WOW we have it really great
everyone should take 15 mins in there day and just sit and relax and reflect how life is just great and so is FIRST. as my math teacher says..there are tons of people that would switch lives with you...
without FIRST we wouldn't be here...so hats off to Dean and all those guys and judges and volunteers for doing this...and even everyone moderating and the creators of this lovely forum....this is our world and it's extremely great..thanks everyone!
happy trails everyone! make those lifelong friendships and learn everything you can!
....were you giving them away at a comp last year?
Yes, I got to go to EACH PIT last year to hand them out and that was SO MUCH FUN!!!, :D and we have also given extra copies away at the regionals we attended this year... We may still have some floating around in our pit so if you are a rookie team and can't for some reason download this, see us in Atlanta (team 173) or e-mail me and I will send you the file.
I'm glad so many people have been touched by it. I will have to dig out my copy and re-post it in my new cubicle at work.

Thanks to team 173 (RAGE) for sharing this with us.
... as of now a copy of the paper is hanging in the tech office at my school (where most of us hang out throughout the day), and there will be a copy on the wall infront of my desk when I get home.
OK, those of you who have this posted somewhere... what's your favorite phrase on it?
I think, right now, mine would have to be "File these memories so you can take them out in old age." I'm going to have a LOT to remember someday when I'm in a nursing home! :)

It's been on the front of my door since....well about since when it came out. (See attached picture and see if you can name all the other stuff on my door)
My favorite? "Listen to other people; adults can teach you a lot. - Listen to other people; students can teach you a lot."

i love the "duct tape is what holds the world together" one!! soo true!
second favorite is "Riding on a Segway™ is the closest thing you’ll get to a magic carpet ride"
I think, right now, mine would have to be "File these memories so you can take them out in old age."
Or maybe, "If you can't be part of the solution, don't be part of the problem."
