Just flipping through the list, Archimedes once again looks like the division. All three 2004 champions (71, 435, 494) are back in there, as are 79, 179, 217, 233, 342, 845, 1251, and those are just the ones I spotted off the top of my head.

woohoo curie for us. Should be fun
Quick Stats to chew on...:
Regional Championships Per Division (A team who won two, counts twice...)
Archimedes: 29
Curie: 13
Galileo: 24
Newton: 19
Finalists
Archimedes: 18
Curie: 10
Galileo: 14
Newton: 12
#1 Seeds
Archimedes: 12
Curie: 2
Galileo: 6
Newton: 4
#1 Picks
Archimedes: 8
Curie: 2
Galileo: 12
Newton: 3
Even according to those stats, without a doubt, the divisions, by strength, rank:
1. Archimedes (clearly :()
2. Galileo
3. Newton
4. Curie
Some more stats.
Same as before, but no repetition allowed. i.e. Number of Regional Champions per division. If a team won twice, you only count once. If a team was a champion and a finalist, they only count as a finalist. This will give a better idea of how many "elite" level teams are in each divison.
(Thanks to Bill Moore for the suggestion)
Regional Champions
Archimedes: 25
Curie: 10
Galileo: 21
Newton: 17
Finalists:
Archimedes: 13
Curie: 7
Galileo: 9
Newton: 8

Never count out the underdog! Team 93 + Boilermaker Regional = 41st seed to the finals in 4 matches. The champs may come from someplace other than Archimedes. Although I personally hope not since our team is in Archimedes.
Good luck to all and safe travels to Atlanta next week!

Hey now I'm excited, I know a bunch of teams in our division now! Yay...341, 365, 433, 190, etc.

Archimedes is all the RAGE!!! :D
Yes... and Newton's Canadian team is.. Sandwiched.. among many American teams...... *cough* ("Club Sandwich" just doesn't have the same effect).
Anyways, I know lots of people on our team will be kind of upset that we have been separated from ALL of the other Canadian teams, but it will be really fun to meet all the other people in this division. I believe we have only played with two other teams in this division before (639 and 1511) and all three of us went to both Finger Lakes and Greater Toronto. I'm really excited to see Code Red and Rrrrolllling Thunder for a third time this year :). Edit: Oh! 340 is also with us :). I just noticed that.
I am definitely going to come by and see all the other Canadians there since we won't be playing alongside them! I'm crawling out of my skin in anticipation for this... I can't wait.
By the way, are the pits divided into the divions as well? And are all divisions in the same building?

Now 25 will get a chance to trade paint with MOE again, I cant wait.. :)
good luck to all :)

Good luck in Atlanta,

DarkJedi613 is right! Stats mean nothing to me. I dunno, a non-winning regional team can take it all! wOOt!! :D Anyways, I'm not bragging. Good luck to all teams!

Well, as I've said before with the predicted divisions, the VCU champions are all in the same division. This occur in any of the other divisions?

This is going to be fun. I just noticed that both our alliance team members from the Pacific Northwest Regional are on a division together(Galileo) while our team, 1595, is on Newtons division. :( I guess it will be good though. See you there!!!

There are gonna be a lot of wild matches, especially over in Archimedes (with FL favorites like 179, 233 and 1251).
Curie is gonna be awesome though with great teams like 180 S.P.A.M., 66, 118, and both our Palmetto alliance partners, 343 MiM and 337, just to name a few.

As the self-appointed representative of the Archimedes division, I would like to begin the negotiations for the unconditional surrender of the three other divisions. All negotiations will be held in a Cone of Silence to be provided by Team 71. Our terms:
1. Teams will begin immediate disarmament of their robots. All arms on robots shall be dismantled not more than 2 days after the signing of the treaty. Only defensive puck-bots will be allowed.
2. Real men DO wear pink. As such, it will be mandatory for all male roboteers to wear atleast one pink article of clothing.
3. Apples will be the official food of FIRST Championships. All teams named for unhealthy snack foods will be re-christened "Rice Cakes" "Skim Milk" or some similar alternative.
4. The only approved non-mythical animal mascots will be canine, feline, equine, avian, or rodent in nature. All other mascots will be shorn, tarred, and feathered.
5. Extraterrestrials are people too. All secret government holding facillities will be demolished and their aliens residents given full citizenship.
6. In concert, all clandestine government intelligence agencies will be disbanded and any and all agents will become civillians and be forbidden to wear snazzy suits.
7. Artificial fusion is a myth, people. All teams themed about it will be re-named "Pie-in-the-sky flight of fancy"
8. Bombs and TNT are dangerous and are prohibited. All bombs should be handled by professional bomb squads with REAL robots. All themed teams will be doused with water to defuse them.
9. Similarly, high voltage is also dangerous and is prohibited. Especially when mixed with H2O. Such teams will be wrapped in foil to ground them and reduce the chance of shock.
10. Tie-dye hurts our eyes. Stop it.
11. Acknowledge the obvious superiority of Shipley's donuts to your silly Krispy Kremes. Real donuts don't thud when you drop them.
Alright, the last one was all me. But still. Tremble in fear, mortals!

Ouch!!
Archimedes is so disgustingly good, it isn't even funny.
wow Archimedes is going to be good. can't wait to see the action. Newton looks like it might be tough too with 67, 639, 1511. Championship is going to be wild!
Heres an alliance to think about in the Curie division....
66
33
279
Now, who are you gonna play defense on? Without defense each of those teams AVERAGES at LEAST 6 tetras/match. Left completely alone the allinace could in theory stack 25-30 tetras in a match...scary, yes...likely to happen....not unless someone gets two consectutive picks.
IMHO

Wow it looks like they did it again, Arch is loaded. But our division is looking pretty good too, (Newton) 45 and 111. If we don't make it to the finals in Newton, I'm definitely going over to Arch and watching theirs.

Trade paint- hmm! We've been telling Corey to be nice.
You know, all those Archimedes kids keep saying how tough their division will be. I say let them all finish each other off so the Gallileo 3 can swoop in and show em' how its done.
They couldn't win the TIKI- what makes them so sure of a divisional victory?

I do agree that Archimedes will be the hardest division to win in, but I believe that any division is game for the overall championship. The top alliance in each of the other 3 divisions will have to be good to get to the finals.

Since you insist, I'd be happy to exchange a genuine 2005 Cybersonics Technology Team 103 shirt, in either short or long sleeve, for a Pink Roccobot 2k5 shirt (size Large)! Your pit or ours?

I was ready to let all of Kevin's ramblings go but when I got to #11, I gotta step in. What a load of crap! You obviously have not been at the KK shop when the "Hot Now" sign is on. Those soft babies just melt in your mouth. Perhaps the thud you heard was when you dropped an entire box of Shipley's? Or maybe the thud was when your Cone Of Silence team #71 got knocked over on it's back with its wheels just a spinnin' in the the last finals game at the Boilermaker. Granted their alliance won that particular game so they just need to be helped over a little sooner this time around. :)
While I am thinking about Kevin's #10, I happen to like tie-dye. One reason is that I wore it when it was originally in style. As far as team #111, I like their clothing. When you see the tie-dye shirts you know what you are looking at, the "WildStangs" and I am glad they are on the Newton playing field.
Bring on the Championship!

Ok. Just to let everyone realize that the impossible happens in sports (and robotics is def a sport. duhhhh ;) ). Let's see what happened in 2004...
-Unlikely Panthers win NFC Championship and go to the super bowl
-Pistons somehow beat the Lakers in NBA Finals
-RED SOX WIN!!!!!!!!!!!
Anything can happen guys. I think you're all forgetting that all of the regionals winners in the Archimedes bracket do not matter. Only 3 make the finals anyways. So we'll see what happens  .

See the trick is that Shipley's are good hot OR cold. But I digress. I really hope everyone here knew all the stuff besides #11 was a joke. Archi scares me and I'm in the crazy division.

It is true that Archimedes has a ridiculous number of good teams but it is the Championships and each division needs only to put up 3 to win the whole thing and I am sure that no one will argure that every division doesnt have atleast 3 elite, championship grade teams. This is going to be an amazing year with so many repeat winners. Dont count any one out though, who is to say that some rookie team with a decent bot and alot of heart wont drop a tetra on the center goal causing a 40+ point swing and winning it all. Statistics are nothing Prior Results do not impact Future instances, something you learn in day 1 of statistics and probability, It is anyones game
Don't forget the penalties are a huge factor thei year and a team that was strong in ht eregionals could get saddled with penalty prone teams who cost them game after game after game and suddenly they find themselves at the bottom of the standings.

Koko Ed, I am the operator for team 250. My fellow driver and I were extremely excited about competing on your alliance for our final two matches of the regional qualifying rounds at FLR. We did our best and got a 30 point penalty in one of the matches that cost us the match and your unblemished record. We ended up losing both matches and felt terrible for taking away your number one seed. The two of us wanted to apologize for the unfortunate losses. Your team rebounded, however, and showed what kind of spirit it takes to win 2 National Chairman's Awards. Congratulations on your team's Regional win and on your Spirit Award which was very well deserved. Good luck in Atlanta.

I have to add that Curie and Newton are lucky to get to play with our new friends from Israel. This year there are 16 international teams from 3 countries participating in the championship event (includes everyone besides Americans). We have 13 Canandian teams, 2 Israeli teams, and a single team from Brazil. Newton will have a team representing each country and every division has a few Canadian teams in it to mix things up a bit. If I was going I would love to see how well some of the international alliances perform together, as well as see how our friends from overseas play the game,
