Let's just quietly go about our business and surprise 3/4 of the divisions. Go Newton Division!
Let's hear it for 1023, Hurricane Bacon (I love our robot :P ), and the other Michigan teams in the Newton division!
Good Luck to all :D

Looks like 2 of last years Newton Division Champions will have a chance to defend thier title. Maybe this year we can take it a few round more. There are some very good teams in this division. Elim's should be fun.

Everybody is saying they want to go watch Archimedes if they don't make eliminations or are knocked out. We all have to remain true to Newton (the real greatest scientist) (except maybe Einstein) and cheer on our divisional champs at Einstein.

Newton is the real genius. And we will have some great matches.
Arch will probably be the highest scoring games but i guarantee that Newton will be a force to be reckon with.
We have some great teams in Newton and it will make for some great eliminations.

Well you guys dont have all of the big stackers like 126 and 71 but you have some awesome teams 45, 111, 1511 though there might not be as many staks of 6 or 7 tetras in Newton I bet the games wil be highscoring with rows going every where. Technical play like that is how 121 won manchester and is absolutly key this year, A newton win would not surprise me.
There are plenty of noteable team numbers in Newton, but as so often is the case, it's the ones you don't notice at first that pull out a win.
All that being said, 95 is pretty spiffy.
Fear the grasshopper.

Yeah you guys Team Fusion is ready for some competition, we've got a great division this year, I'm looking forward to some great matches. I was looking and I believe we have 22-25 (not 100% sure) teams that either won regionals or were finalists. Some of those were repeat winners as well...so Newton is going to be great this year, I cant wait. Feel free to give any team information, espec. about your robot to me lol. See ya'll in Atlanta.
Oh yeah I hope we have Sir Charles again too this year, he was a great mc last year.

I wonder if he could find a way to work in 'They're going for the hook up baby!' again this year.
That really never got old. At all.

I understand what you are saying about Sir Charles. He has MC'd the Peachtree Regional the past few years and he is the best. I seem to remember that he did say "he's on the hook" last month but I can't remember what the circumstance was with the new tetra game this year. I have his business card in front of me and it says "Image Is Everything" on the front. Well Sir Charles is pure excitement!
I told him when he arrived at the Gwinnett arena last month that having him announce the matches makes it so exciting even if your alliance is not winning. He is a local Master DJ and does weddings, parties and other special events. Simply put he is the best. I too hope he is on Newton. I am going to email him and show him some of the comments here. Dave
I think Newton has a good chance of surprising everyone. Not just because we're in it :)

Sir charles was amazing last year hopefully he will be there again this year. He really got the fans into it. I was on his field last year as a student and i just enjoyed listening to him. He brought a new kind of spirit to the announcing that was very enjoyable

When I showed video from the Championship last year I was forced to mute the audio because people were asking so many questions about the announcer & not about the game. "why does he keep saying that?", "who is this guy speaking?", "why does he keep saying two minute warning?", you get the idea. I don't think I could handle another weekend of his witty banter.

Archimedes who? I think newton is going to be the division to watch.
I cant wait to see 67,639,1402.
I think that with the teams we have, the divisional champion alliance is going to be the force to be reckoned with on Einstein.

In all fairness, it was his first time emceeing a FIRST competition, if memory serves. I remember hearing that he was a last minute replacement, so there's no guarantee that he'll be back this year. There's also no guarantee that he'll be at Newton if he IS at the Championship.
Going from reaction online, though, you seem to be in a minority. The majority seemed to like him.
I've got no idea how we'll do in Newton - this hasn't been a good year for 818, despite the fact that our robot is working as designed for the first time in our history - but we'll be out there, and we're still going to try to give everyone some competition. ;)

Hey everyone. Our team, 1595, is on Newton. This is our first year playing, rookie team, but we did win the Pacific Northwest regional. :D :yikes: I think that our robot will be able to contribute in makeing the Newton division take the whole thing!!! See you all there!!!

To each his or her own. IMD: He may have been a last minute replacement (I can't confirm this) last year but the man has First experience at the Peachtree Regional at least the past 2 years.
I don't understand how you might not want some verbal excitement brought to the matches. At Archimedes last year the announcers were dry as dust. :(
I will save the best for last. The good news for most of us here is that Sir Charles will be at the Championship as confirmed by his email to me today. :)

I hope Sir Isaac Newton will be ready for 616's S.I.R. IV!!!!
You tell thm Mr. Ellis. Sir Charles is basically the coolest MC. Out of Nationals and the 3 other regionals, Sir Charles was definetly the best MC by a mile. He is hilarious.
Newton will own. And if I can recall, he was the 2nd most influential person in the past Millenium. He is the most influential person over all of the other scientist here.
We have a lot of strong teams so we are gonna be pretty good.
Go Newton.

GO NEWTON! LET'S DROP A LITTLE GRAVITY ON THE REST!
I don't care what anyone says about Arch-a whatsit division (dont feel like spelling it out). Right now, I'm just worried about what stands between everyone in NEWTON DIVISION and knocking Arch-a whatsit division out come the finals.
Let's get going! (Especially all the scouts...!)
We've got spirit, yes we do
We've got spirit, how about YOU???
(Consider this an "official" divison spirit challenge from Archimedes teams!)

you forgot 135....they are a quick stacker
Youve got West Coast company! 22 was SVR champ and L.A. finalist. 330 was 2nd alliance and semifinalist at Sacramento and won L.A.. Add about four more teams from L.A. that can cap and look out!
Although 1002 had some bad records, we have a robot functioning quite well now. We also had a very high RP avg considering that at boilermaker, we had 3 matches where there were 2 bots or fewer that could move at the time.
Don't forget about them.
Oh and Archimedes, you guys are gonna lose this spirit war. This division will get way louder than you guys.

I think once we're all there we'll be surprised by what teams step up to the plate. We have some of the best rookies in our division with teams like 1595 and 1511. Oh, and also, Archimedes?:
WE'VE GOT SPIRIT
YES WE DO
WE'VE GOT SPIRIT
HOW ABOUT YOU?!!!!
Ahem, *points over to Archimedes.* I have a feeling the Championships will be more painful on my throat than having two regionals in two weeks was.
If you want the "spirit competition" between divisions to be won by Newton, get team 692 (the Fembots) to help. They could probably drown out anyone in volume. The other option: hope they aren't in another division and yell really loudly.
I am really looking forward to Newton division, we just squeaked in under the wire, we were able to raise $2000 in a day to pay for Nats!
If you are looking for a parnter with an excellent scouting system just talk to us, we are looking for teams who may want to share scout info. We will have film of every match, and a scouting report of every robot in every match. Just talk to any of the teams from Philly or Trenton, they can tell you about our scouting system:)
Its easy to recoginize us, we are the tall robot with jet black carbon fiber armor with a big bulldog on 3 sides:)
Team 293
Philly Finalist and GM Industrial Design Award Winner
We've got a lot of west coast scouting and very little east coast scouting. We should drop by each other's pits at nats. :)
Mirza95vx

Our Team does a pretty good job of the East Coast side. Drop by the pits and find me and we can share.

NEWTON WILL LET GRAVITY DO A NUMBER ON THE REST!
This is the part where I don't like being in the hotel we are in. There are no other Newton Teams to swap information. Just two ARchi Teams (A little covert ops may be in the works...)
Would NEWTONS staying at the Holiday Inn or Days Inn (2 closest to Wyndham) be willing to drop off information or even do a strategy session?
Mirza95vx
13-04-2005, 14:33
Im pretty sure were staying at the days inn.
I think thats a pretty good idea
I would be down for a little covert operation on the other divisions.
I will talk about it with the rest of the team but i think its a pretty good idea to go over scouting with a few diffrent teams in our division

Team 11 is pumped to be in Newton for the first time.
