What do you think about a YMTC subforum under "Rules/Strategy"?
I think at least putting all the YMTC posts in one place would provide a valuable resource. Having them in one place would also make it easier to look up, for when you're wondering "hmmm ... what if ..."
Based on the fact that you're a poster on ChiefDelphi ... YOU MAKE THE CALL! ;)

Agree!
But maybe they belong under Chit-Chat due to the referee's axiom:
"They ain't nothin' till I calls 'em"
;) ;)

Possibly. I'll let this thread go for a bit before making it.
(Chit-Chat's for non- FIRST-related talk. They're pretty FIRST-related :))

I'm for it--it seems as though there's always a few dozen threads each season, which is more than some entire forums get.
Hey, if Car Nack can get his own forum... :)

I'm going to concur on this one as well. Although I believe the Car Nack thing is around for tradition reasons, having a YMTC subforum would be an easy way to group a lot of healthy and intelligent discussion. Also, it would get a lot more use than many of the organization sub-forums get.
If so, could we put tags in front of it like the Org forums have? [YMTC 2005] would work out best.

I'm for a YMTC Sub-Forum because someday Natchez will come up with something so tricky that Dave will start to pull the remaining hair off his head:p
Just kidding Dave

I think its a good idea. It would certainly make it easier to look back at old Mt's, and also provide a centralized point for the creation of new ones.
I think it's a great idea - although I don't agree with it being in Chit Chat. Most of the YMTC ones I've seen deal with rules/strategy/game play, at least during competition season. I definitely wouldn't be looking in Chit Chat for those.
I say under Rules/Strategy, or maybe even in General?
Edit - there's a lot of discussion in the rules/strategy and general threads that are not "official" or confirmed, and are just for discussion. The Rumor thread seems more light-hearted and fun, while these YMTC can be serious discussions that can results in things FIRST and teams really needs to be aware of.
I think that IF we decide to have one it should be in Rumor thread. After all I have not seen one official answer from FIRST on any of the YMTC topics. There have been many opposite points of view without any formal finalization. I would also like to point out that quite a few of the YMTC topics were actual occurrences that I saw this year at different events. I almost wonder why some of these are brought up.
Don't get me wrong in thinking that I don't like them. I love to debate and question. Sometimes I play Devils Advocate just to see if i can win. :D

I like the idea of a dedicated sub-forum for YMTC threads. It seems there are many among us, myself included, who enjoy reading and occasionally contributing to them.
As Dave likes to say, I'm not sure why this is even an issue.

I agree. It would very valuable to have its own sub-forum and I think it should be put with Rules/Strategy.

You don't think dlavery is official? (Assuming he responds to a YMTC thread.)
I think that it should be under Rules/Strategy because the things discussed relate directly to rules and how they are interpreted. If it is in the Rumor Mill, people who ignore the forum and are on their team's strategy team ignore the thread and maybe a similar situation comes up and they don't have several viewpoints to refer to. Ouch.

dlavery has (at least) as much right as anyone on CD to express opinions -- many of us esteem his posts very highly.
However, no one (except our moderator) is expressing an official opinion when posting on CD. If you want an official FRC response to a rules question, FIRST Q&A (http://www.usfirst.org/robotics/2005/qa.htm) is the only place to go.

Nope. Absolutely not. Any opinions that I may offer in a YMTC discussion are exactly that - opinions. They are my personal views, and carry absolutely no official sanction of any type. While I may be able to offer some occasional insights into the thought process that might have been used to reach a certain decision or ruling, my discussions in these forums do not equate to rulings of any type. The only official responses to any question regarding the rules or conduct of the game are the ones that come from FIRST. Everything else is just entertaining discussion, without any meaning or utility when it comes to arguing a referees call or supporting a rule interpretation.

Okedokey. It's there .. a sub-forum of Stragety/Rules.
I've automagically moved all the old threads in there too.
The forum will put a [YMTC]: prefix on any thread started in there.
