Good to know.....

Indianapolis Intl Airport is expecting some light rain on Thursday sometime, but nothing that should delay my 6am flight.

Hopefully those t-storms on Friday hold off, but as long as there is no rain saturday night (team party), we'll be fine

Ugh, Friday and Sunday aren't looking too good. But the good thing is that it will be Warm and Sunny when we first get to Atlanta Wednesday afternoon!

Here's the link to the Atlanta Pollen Count. It was below 2000 yesterday for the first time in about a week and a half. 120 is considered extremely high. Hopefully it will keep dropping before next weekend.

http://remote.atlantaallergy.com/pollencount/

They don't count on weekends :(

Looking forward to seeing everyone here in sunny green Atlanta on Thursday.

WOOT! It snowed a lot this year in southern michigan. I'm taking advantage of the nice weather today to work outside (beautifying gardens and water sealing deck). Gonna go take my boat out later tonight.

Don't fret! A closer examination of the forecast says:
Thu - Apr 21
Partly Cloudy - 79°/57°
0% Precipitation Chance

Fri - Apr 22
Scattered T-Storms - 77°/55°
40% Precipitation Chance

Sat - Apr 23
Few Showers - 73°/55°
30% Precipitation

If you look at the chance of precipitation (rounding 40% and 30% to 33% for ease of calculations), is is still only roughly a 1 in 3 three chance we will rain one of the two days on either Friday or Saturday, and roughly a 1 in 9 chance that it will rain both days, give or take a few percent. These numbers aren't that high, so I don't think that we should worry too much. We shall have to wait and see whether the forcast changes as the end of next week draws closer.

Don't put much stock in a weather report a week off. Of course it could rain but lets wait and see what they say beginning next Tuesday. Don't worry about something you can't control.

Six of our team members just returned home from the GA World Congress Center for the Atlanta Auto Show, which was great by the way. The weather, the cars & the ladies were beautiful. It was in the low 70's and we hope will be the same for the fantastic Championship's next week.

Even if it rains, all will have a great time except for running between the GA Dome, hotels & CNN Center. Once you get to the Dome you all will have the time of your life!

According to weather.com this is what the max humidity will be like, (tends to get sticky on the east coast when the weather warms up)

Arrival Day-Day: 55%
-Night: 64%
Practise Day-Day: 57%
-Night: 63%
Qualifying Day -Day: 61%
-Night: 71%
Judgement Day - Day: 61%
-Night: 63%
Departure Day -Day: 51%
-Night: 52%

Well i'm sitting in new jersey right now on one of the nicest days in a long time and the relative humidity is 33% and its like perfect. So it may be a bit sticky while we are there, particularly during Qualifying.

And from the people that actually know weather.

National Weather Service (http://www.srh.noaa.gov/ifps/MapClick.php?CityName=Atlanta&state=GA&site=FFC)

Knowing weather though, this could all change before next weekend anyways.

Ya know... It's supposed to be just as warm here in NYC when we leave it as when we get down to Atlanta...

Us snowbirds go down South to get warm weather, dangit...

I much prefer snow to rain.

It gets you a lot less wet.

Snow?

How about freezing rain and ice storms, like we had two years ago at Western Michigan? And we had to walk both ways to the venue from our hotel! Uphill! Barefoot over broken glass!

The last two may be a bit exaggerated, but we WERE there when half of the city lost power. Fortunately for us, our hotel was in the half that didn't.

In any case, a little bit of rain never hurt anyone. And as long as the robots don't get wet, we're all going to be just fine.

And from the people that actually know weather.

National Weather Service (v)

That link didn't work... I think it was meant to go here. (http://www.srh.noaa.gov/ifps/MapClick.php?map.x=134&map.y=110&MapType=3&site=ffc&CiTemplate=1)

The short version as of Sunday Morning:

Thursday: Partly cloudy, with a high near 77.

Thursday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low near 53.

Friday: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a high around 77.

Friday Night: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 56.

Saturday: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a high around 74.

(I always go to the National Weather Service (http://nws.noaa.gov) directly for weather... I find it more informative and less cluttered with advertising and gardening/golfing/other non-weather related stuff than The Weather Channel's site. It also provides more raw data and real meteorological discussion related to possible trends and forecast scenarios.)

Of course when I'm going to Atlanta where it'll be warm it's also going to be warm in NY...as soon as I get back it'll probably be like 40 again.

Weather Underground (http://www.wunderground.com/cgi-bin/findweather/getForecast?query=30313) (this link for Atlanta) is BY FAR my favorite weather information source. Great radar and tons of data.

Sure am glad my Segway is waterproof !! ;)

Here's yet another link to the Atlanta weather forecast. These are by AccuWeather (http://www.accuweather.com/), which has 15-day forecasts. I've been watching these forecasts for the past week, and the numbers have remained pretty constant.

Thursday:
http://wwwa.accuweather.com/adcbin/public/local_index_day.asp?zipcode=30301&metric=0&partner=accuweather&day=5
Friday:
http://wwwa.accuweather.com/adcbin/public/local_index_day.asp?zipcode=30301&metric=0&partner=accuweather&day=6
Saturday:
http://wwwa.accuweather.com/adcbin/public/local_index_day.asp?zipcode=30301&metric=0&partner=accuweather&day=7

Basically said, here are the percentages of the chance of precipitation. Note that how low these numbers are.
Thursday:
15% Probability
Thursday Night:
10% Probability
Friday:
31% Probability
Friday Night:
19% Probability
Saturday:
20% Probability
Saturday Night:
8% Probability

The highest chance of precipitation is only 31% on Friday night. Usually you aren't guarenteed to have rain until the precentages are in the 70-80% range or higher. Also, if you look at the anticipated precipitation on AccuWeather, they're predicting 0 inches of rain on Thursday, 0.19 inches of rain on Friday, and 0 inches of rain on Saturday. 0.19 inches of rain is hardly anything.

Thank you Mr. Ellis! Did you see the Dual Hemi Jeep Hurricane?
Yeah, the weather here is perfect right now. Like it is ridiculous. There hasn't been a cloud in th sky to be seen today or yesterday.

But then again, this is Georgia, the place where we had a ice storm for 2 or 3 days and then on the 4th day we were all back to the mid 70's. Don't worry about it.

The prediction here right now from the local weather stations for thursday is just cloudy. I'm not sure for the other days.

I'd also like to say for the whole isolated T storms weve been getting almost no rain out of them if any its for a few min during the day.... its really nothing to worry about at this point...

SURVIVORfan44
17-04-2005, 16:28
Wow, its going to be bad if it rains...because 616 will be walking to and from their hotel everyday, which is the Wyndam by the way. Its going to be interesting if we have to walk in the rain. Are other teams walking too?

For those of you who aren't used to the strange weather patterns we have here in the south (like I wasn't when I moved here), the extended forecast is always a 30% chance of rain between mid-March and June, so that if we get a batch of pop-up afternoon thunder showers, the weather guessers can point to the forecast and deflect the blame. It's very common here this time of year to have rain at my office, and when I get home 4 miles away to not have had any, and vice versa. So don't put too much much concern into the current forecasts... I'm sure it will be a beautiful week! See everyone here soon.

I dont think some 30% chance thunderstorms is anything we have to worry about. worrying if its going to rain on the way to and from the Georgia Dome is pretty trivial. the only thing we are concerned about is delays in flights on Wednesday. no biggie :)

18-04-2005, 01:23
Hey, if its sunny my team may just walk. Most of us live no more than 30 minutes from the dome. Wow, we are going to be the only ones really walking to the competition, unless IHOT (I love you guys!) comes on Saturday. Anybody who knows about the Atlanta teams, are we (1648 at Grady) the closest team in Atlanta these past few years that it has been here? If so, that is SO COOL!!!! We get to walk with the rest of you guys coming from the hotels! See ya out there Thursday morning!!

PS. Three more days!!!

18-04-2005, 01:59
Atlanta at this time of year is usually mild, so rain shouldn't be a problem, and scott, hope to see you as i head towards the dome

The Weather is looking good, except for some rain and tstorms on thursday. Other than that, looks like mostly sun...

I aint afraid to get a little wet... might help with the sweat of competition. :)

From TWC, I am seeing a 40% chance of rain all three days. Thursday and Friday are scattered thunderstorms, and Saturday is written as "showers". I don't mind the rain, especially since we will be indoors almost all day anyways.

Yep.
Some parts of it are in a tent(if it's like last year's) but certainly not enough to accomidate everyone.

How about weather before you leave. As of 7 AM, Detroit Metro Airport is on a 60 minute delay to storms...and its supposed to storm all day to this evening. Hopefully I make it out on time to fly to Atlanta.

Hopefully the weather in atlanta will be nice :P Mighigan is expecting rain/snow mix saturday (and it was 83 yesturday....hahahahahaha) :P

I'm looking outside right now and it's beautiful! It's at least 80 degrees F. If you get here tonight you'll at least enjoy some nice weather. I couldn't tell you how it will be tomorrow but right now the skies are clear for the most part and it's very sunny.
