A big congratulations to team #67, General Motors & Huron Valley Schools Milford, MI, for winning the Championship Chairman's award on Saturday.

Somehow 29 other teams have to figure out what else we need to do to secure it as I know that our team thought we had a shot at it!

Team #67 must have had many huge accomplishments this past year and had a great presentation. I am sure it must have been a great feeling to I believe, be the only complete team allowed on the stage. Hopefully sometime soon our team can have that feeling also. :)

Well, now that the award has been won, I can tell you a few things that were included in the submission. (Being an alumni, I've heard it)

-team alum starting 2 teams this year, 1 of which was international
-basically creating the FLL program. HOT started a group called HOTSHOTS (don't ask me what it stands for) before LL existed which basically did the same thing, and told FIRST about it. Since then, they have basically been the base for Michigan Lego League
-CASEY (once again, I don't know what it stands for) is a showbot, a robot built for the sole purpose of going out into the community and showing people about robotics in the way that they think of robot. When most people hear the word "robot" they think of Rosie from the Jetsons. CASEY looks like a human with a laptop face, a body (and full wardrobe) and the ability to blow up balloons and be driven by virtually anyone.
-helped out a team last year that had lost all engineering help and basically taught them how to build their own robot.
-so so so very much more

I was on HOT's Chairman's team for two years and know a bit about their activities so if you have any more questions, I would be more than willing to answer questions as I'm sure would be any member of their current team.

Thanks for the comments guys!

I didn't work with the Chairmans group very much (aside from helping edit the final submission), but I did try to keep tabs on where they were at during the season. Its hard to describe how hard they worked on that submission and how many times they practiced our presentation... our whole team is so extremely proud of them.

I have to say I'm extremely impressed with HOT this year. For a team to walk away from a competition season with six gold medals is simply amazing. A big congratulations to your team and Chairman's presenters.

Year after Year team 67 has had, and continues to have, a very solid program in every way. A well deserved honor to be sure. They ARE one of the great Teams and should be honored as such.

Welcome to the Hall of Fame.

Winning the Chairman's Award is greatly deserved by the HOT team 67. This team has been a model for FIRST team for many years. They were CA finalists for a few years in a row, back in 2000-2002.

Looking back at my 9 years as a FIRST mentor for team 45, there are many teams who I have looked up to and admired for their combination of competitiveness, gracious professionalism, community outreach, inspiration to other teams, and maintaining a continuous team partnership. In my opinion, no other team puts this "total package" together better than team 67.

Congrats to the HOT Team! It is wonderful to see that this excellent team is now in FIRST's Hall of Fame.

Congratulations team 67 for being recognized as the Championship Chairman's Award winning team, and also having the extra honor of being the Champions of the entire competition! (Side note: a member of my team coined the phrase "Chairmanship winners" on the bus ride home...) I'd like to welcome you to the Hall of Fame as a past winner and current HoF member. I know that the HOT Team truly deserves all the recognition. I can't wait to hear more about all your endeavors! Congratulations for all of your achievements this year!

Congratulation to Team 67 from Teams 97 and 527 as well. Your commitment to FIRST is greatly appreciated by the ever-growing FIRST community. Thank you for helping in a big way to make FIRST what it is today.

I'm sure you have your own video of the announcement of the Chairman's Award, but here's some more from way up in the nosebleed seats. Awesome pyrotechnics!

Well Done Hot Team!!!

Team 236 has always believed that by creating a great TEAM based in FIRST Values, you will do great things, and the Hot Team has proven this year after year. Congratulations from myself and all of Team 236 - Techno Ticks!

It is very intersting how the TEAMs that are Chairman's Award Winners and Teams that are Chairman's Award Caliber that may not necessarily get recognized at the Regional of National Level, also seem to build National Competition Caliber Robots. I think the Hot Team has just proven that to build a Nationaly Competitive Robot, you first have to build a Chairman's Award Caliber Team!

I would also like to put out a Special Congratulations to all of those teams that are of Chairman's Award Caliber that may not have been recognized with one of only a few awards relative to the number of deserving teams! The Hot Team has raised the bar, and it is up to us, the rest of the teams involved in FIRST Robotics, to rise up to the standard that the Hot Team and all of the other teams in the Hall of Fame have set.

To steal a signoff from the FIRST mass mailings,
GO TEAMS!

Team 67,

Congratulations and welcome to the Hall of Fame. I know we on team 254 look up to your team not only for beating us in the playoffs at the Championship the last 3 (i think) years in a row, but more importantly for your manifestation of the ideals of FIRST.

I think you should change your team name. You are no longer just the Heroes of Tomorrow, but the Heroes of Today and Tomorrow. I think HOTT would express the way your team is a hero for all teams in FIRST. (You don't really have to change the name you've had for so long).

Thanks for continuously inspiring our team both on and off the field. We look forward to helping you as you enter the Hall of Fame. Take care of the clock!

Sincerely,
Matt Durstenfeld
Team 254 President

Funny you say that, my school spelled our team name wrong on the congratulatory sign out front of our school, "HOTT"
