Use this thread for the following:
- if you just want to state where you/your team will be staying
- if you are looking for housing
- if you are looking for a hotel room and don't know where to go
- if you are looking for some people to room with at a hotel
- if you have general housing questions.
On behalf of IndianaFIRST, I can say we'll certainly look forward to having all of you there! It's always a blast! :)

I guess I'll get the ball rolling.
Anybody want to go in on a room at the Omni together? I'm looking at a three night stay; Thursday night, Friday night, and Saturday night.
-Aaron
I was wondering where other teams are staying for IRI?

if 56 and 25 go together we might be staying at a marriot if we can find one near by. we are still deciding if we are goin to go and if we do we will be an extremly small group.
A whole lot of people stay at the Omni. (Now the Hilton, right?...Or some other hotel at least)

I got on Expedia.com and found at least 3 hotels for around $65.00 a night within 5 miles of the school and all just off I-69. I can't remember the names but they should be easy to find.
The I-69 exit for the school is Exit 5 if you are coming from the North.

Myself, DJ, Big Mike, and Meli W. stayed at the Extended Stay America, Castleton. It was about $65 a night, maybe $70. pretty nice place, also pretty close to the school.

I'm glad this is being brought up. If you find a hotel that is cheap, but are wondering about traveling time, etc. from the event, contact someone from Team #234 or one of the IRI planners.
The hotels that have been arranged with 'special' rates are fairly close to the event, and there are other hotels not too far. More information should be available Monday.

Closest known campground is the KOA grounds in Greenfield, which is about 15-20 miles west of Indianapolis. I know some people from 1083 stayed their last year, and missed their first match saturday morning because (I think this was the reason) they got caught in a traffic jam coming to Indianapolis

Hhhmmm...
I think I will be making this trip since I missed the Championships - and it'll give me a chance to show off my car....
Just give me a time and place and how much - I'll be there (Late Thurs/fri morning) I'll leave after school thursday from the Michigan area. If you are in the Michigan area (Or on the way) and want to car pool - let me know - I'm more than willing to take my car!! :)
My NEW cell phone number is - (313) 995-8574! I have voice mail so feel free to leave a messge.
Disclamer - Yes, I know I just posted my Phone Number on the internet, blah, blah, blah...

Well I don't think it would matter whether I missed some of the matches or not. I'm not going with a team so yeah. I wish they would go though. Thanks DJ.

When calling the Hilton number for reservations, when I asked for the special IRI rate they knew nothing about it. They couldn't find a listing for it. I tried Indiana Robitics Invotational (which it says to ask for in the white paper), and IRI. Is there any other name it might be listed under?

I'm trying to figure out hotel situations. Thus far it is either going to be myself or myself and Kim Roode. We're looking to stay Thursday night, Friday night, AND Saturday night. I'll let you know when I get more details.
The Extended Stay was nice. So was the Omni (Hilton XD).
And...If I could remember where I stayed with Katie last year...That was nice too.

I called the 1-800-HILTONS number and asked for the IRI rate for the Omni/Hilton earlier this week. According to them, I got the last room at that rate. Incidentally, they told me the rate only applies to Friday and Saturday nights, not Thursday night, when I know a bunch of out of state teams arrive. Regardless, I still appreciate the $91 rate for Friday night, knowing that I'll be paying $139 for Thursday. You IRI peoplez negotiate a good deal.

I will call them tomorrow and see if I can increase the block size. We went on what last years numbers and it clearly was not enough. I will post what I find out later. Sorry about this. :o

Can this rate be extended to Thursday night as well? It would make sense since the competition starts decently early on Friday morning that we would like to come in Thursday night and saving that much money on a bunch of rooms for my team would be a big deal.

I will see. I had rooms on that night but they must be gone also. We must be really different from last year.

Thats odd...my invoice for 3 nights (Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights) was 91 dollars a night. I booked my room the first day the hotel rates were made public.

I also got a room for three nights (Thursday, Friday, and Saturday) and all three nights were at 91 a night. I booked maybe a week and a half ago.

Hmm....I called them back and amazingly, they said I had the $91 rate for all three nights. This is not what the reservationist reported to me when I first called. They suggested I call the hotel directly and speak with the in-house sales department to confirm all of this:

If they don't automatically give you the $91 rate (at the Hilton), they say to request to speak to their sales management to have it adjusted.

I'm with Aaron. I don't mind sleeping on the floor. Unless someone has room for me....I'll even pay. :D
I desperately want to go, and I'd like to finalize travel plans ASAP.

I called the hotel directly a few days ago and they added a second room to our reservation at the same $91 rate. That being said, they may still be running out. If you haven't called the hotel directly and asked to speak with someone in reservations or inside sales, I'd check out that route and see if they'll give you the cheaper rate.

I managed to get 6 rooms for Thursday and Friday nights at $91/night. It took some effort, but I did it. I'm assuming rooms are running low.

Team 93 will be at Candlewood Suites on Bash Street...again. Nice big rooms with kitchens and nearly all the comforts of home. We've been staying there ever since IRI moved to Indy and they give us a great rate - $79 for a single room and $99 for a two-room suite.
Can't wait for July!!

Now that Arefin and Tytus have found a room, I can safely volunteer some space :D
But we aren't flying in until Friday so you'll need a place for Thursday night; we're staying over Saturday night also. Let me know.
Are there any really cheap hotls around. I am trying to get my team ready to go. We aren't sur if we can get there or not. Our team has nver been to an off-season competition.
If you can help in anyway, please pm me, or email me at wheelerrobotics@gmail.com or 1002.FIRST@gmail.com

I'm driving down Friday after work (won't get there til about midnight I'm afraid. Staying at the Airport Hampton Inn). Consider it a last ditch effort if nothing else comes up.

KE -
The airport is on the west side of Indy, and the IRI is on the Northeast side.
You might check for hotels in the 465 / I69 / 82nd street area. Check the CD posting for some hotel deals.
If you stay at the airport, you will drive an extra 45 minutes, and go right past the IRI facility on your way from Rochester! :)

Check this thread - the rates quoted are very good and are for good size rooms (lots of kids) and some include some breakfast stuff.
Just about anything in the 82nd street / 465 / I69 area will be a good and safe location. PM me if you need more help.
