Well, I know that when it comes to making friends in FIRST that AIM,MSN etc are the best answers. But what do you do when they dont have internet... or you would rather talk on the phone because it is more... well, personal.. lol. Basically I have a problem, my friends are from everywhere now. And appearantly I already owe my dad like $12 for long distance calling [I really dont understand how yet..] And I know it is sure to increase. Does anyone know any good alternatives.. or like cheap long distance or anything? lol

Thanks
-Ashley

hmm... if you have a cell which gives you minutes for free after 9 at night... you can always use that and if you are using your house phone, you can always buy calling cards whenever you have the money... that way you don't owe anyone money and also get to talk to your friend.

Cell phones are probably the best way. Beyond that, calling cards...

Some team a few years back gave out calling cards for free.... I wonder- who did that? Also at www.fatwallet.com there's occasionally offers for free calling cards- I browse there now and again to get free magazine subscriptions or pens and whatnot.

Also, if they have the internet and simply prefer phone usage I highly recommend Team speak- it's for the internet, and is voice chat just like a phone, but it's free.

Good luck keeping in touch with your FIRST friends, cause there ain't no friend quite like 'em.

Many cellphone providers now offer free long distance. So wait after 9 and you are set. Call you provider and ask them what you need to do to get free long distance

If all parties involved have internet access, then I would check out Skype (http://www.skype.com/)

I've tried it a few times with friends and it seems to work pretty well but it obviously has it's limitations. I would still check it out, who knows it may be what you are looking for.
