View Full Version : 5.1 Magnitude Earthquake in NY
So anyone from the North East feel the quake this morning?
It managed to wake me up ... I guess some of the California teams are probably used to it, but this is a new experience for me!

No earthquakes out here. So sad.
Then again, my dorm is a special building on campus built on shaker supports. This building houses the multidisciplinary earthquake research center. I'm just lucky they haven't decided to perform earthquake simulations with the building in the middle of the night.

Sure felt it in Toronto.
Certianly not the first one tho...I suppose this is what we get for having a fault line in lake ontario...lol
And according to Toronto's news stations it was 5.7, not 5.1.
Maybe it was bigger here.

Did not feel a thing here on Long Island. Did not even know much about there being an earthquake untill I look here on Chief Delphi. Just another reason to read everything on Cheif Delphi.
same here. i think that may be why i woke up just after 7 though. i was in a deep sleep, and then i woke up, and it was like, 7:01. i couldn't fall back asleep. now i think i know why i woke up, although i don't remember feeling any earthquake.

Yeah I slept through it too... but then again when I'm tired, loud noises or movement doesn't wake me up easily... and I'm tired alot :P

I'm embarassed to say that was the smallest earthquake that I ever woke up for. I grew up in Los Angeles, and only moved to Rochester this past year to go to school. I had previously made a habit of sleeping through magnitude 6+ earthquakes.
