Well- the registrations are trickling in. I would be happier if they were flooding in.

Remember- loan a robot to a new school and help them play and you get in for half price- them free. Bring two schools- all three are free.

I sent a promo to the team contacts of all the teams in the NE states near US. If your coach didn't talk to you find out why.

If you need me to send you the info simply get me your e-mail. (PM)

Update 9-17

As of today we have 10 teams signed up for BE 4 and very few of the "locals" that normally attend. The event is 8 weeks away

I have created timing models for 24 teams and 30 teams. Either will work.

So---

If you want to attend now is the time to send in your registration forms with that intent. If you need one PM me.

Time to Close Registrations

as of last night we have 31 teams attending BE this coming Saturday and it is time to close registrations so we can plan more completely.

We are proud to say that 6 of these teams are prerookies being mentored by 4 different teams in their first events ever and that all these prerookies are looking to play in this winter's regular FIRST season.

It is going to be quite a day.

Of course we all invite all the CD readers to come to NBTHS and enjoy this great event. The games begin at 8AM. And we WILL finish by 5!!! You can stay and see our school's theatre production of "Dont Drink the Water" at 8PM.

See you all Saturday

I have various sizes left.

I take an XL so if you are interested, try to PM me here, or just bring me an XL at BE and I'll see what I can do to hook you up with a shirt that fits you!!

Thanks all, and see you @ BE.

Brunswick Eruption 4-

The final Results

Looking Ahead Award- 1546
Kids Favorite Robot - 1676
Refs Favorite Award - 237
Mike's (Wade's) Favorite Award - 555
Rising Star - prerookie 1882 Howell HS
Big Kahuna- Bruce Ciance-parent founder of the team 25 RPM movement and new Animation group

#1 seed- 237

Finalists- 237, 56 and 11 (Alliance 1)

Winners- 358, 75 and 369 (Alliance 2)

My thanks to all of the 31 teams who attended and especially those teams that had the faith to come with robots in need of parts or "battle weary" after the long FIRST year. We tried to accomodate as best we could and it seemed like everybody had at least some time on the field.

And also my thanks to my crew of dedicated adults and kids who worked diligently to put on the event. With the help of the teams from Pascack, Hightstown, the prerookies and our guests from NY and Connecticut the takedown flew .

As my team knows, I am one of those guys who worries all about the little details getting done. For weeks the kids have been telling me, don't worry- we got it covered. And they did. I'm still amazed. The kids worked very hard
running the event and still competed with decent success.

And we finished the last round at 5:15 (5:00 goal) to be out by the time of the school play.

And of course we all owe a huge round of thanks to Paul Kloberg for getting so much of the organizational work done for the event and to the amazing, dedicated and irreplaceable Mike Wade from NASA. Mike gives so much to the kids of our region and truly epitomizes the spirit of FIRST. Thanks a million.

I hope everybody had a great time and that you plan to come back next year. The kids are pushing for a 2 field event......and there is a whole other gym to consider........

Team 25 put on a terrific show for us all on Saturday. I understand what a huge undertaking an off-season event like this is, especially with the number of competing teams making it equivalent to a Regional-in-a-day. The announcer’s voice was going at the end.
From the freshmen field reset crew, to the organizers we thank you for your tremendous efforts on behalf of spreading the excitement that is engineering and technology.

Although our status as winners (we’re in Tiki heaven) makes our admiration of the referees possibly suspect. I want to thank them for their diligent efforts to govern what came down to a evenly offensive/defensive game there in the last few matches as competitive play stepped up a level as it always does in the Finals.

Congratulations to all the special award winners, especially, one of my favorites Baldwin Team 1546 ;)

Thanks to our partners 75 and 369 it was a true alliance with each supporting the others by taking up an extra load whenever called on. Together we barely prevailed over teams 237, 56, and 11, also a great alliance we were proud to play against and would have been equally honored to play with.

It was an exciting day for our freshmen as you gave them the opportunity to taste FIRST as drivers rotated through the qualifying matches breaking off or denting parts and pieces of our robot. It makes me shudder to think of them with driver permits in a few years! Towards the end we took turns with 75 playing defense while our arms were down for various (in our case an ultimate catastrophic failure) while 369 continued to cap relentlessly.

Special thanks to:
- Teams 222 and 271 for drill bits which we mean to replace.

- Team 1089 for their immense help in rebuilding our backup fork with their Porta-band saw and to Team 1882 for their assistance as well.

- I'm sure there are others I'm neglecting to mention, so thanks to all who helped others learn to operate their loaner robots or helped to put a broken 'bot back on the field.

Thanks all for giving us a final opportunity to Triple Play!

I wanted to thank team 25 for putting together such an amazing competition. I hope my team comes back next year to defend their title.

I would like to thank all the other teams who attended for putting up such fierce competition. Together we are all winners.

I would especially like to thank all the preRookie teams who attended, showing the devotion to first, coming out and seeing whats its all about. A true inspiration to the rest.

I would also like to thank in particular 237, 56 and 11 for putting up such fierce competition. The 3 of you together really do make something special a really amazing force. We were almost unable to pull through.

It wouldn't have been for:

358 and 369. Those are 2 groups of amazing kids being able to over come such challenges. Being able to stare down one of the finalists from Atlanta. Being able to over come difficulties with robot damage. It seemed liked almost all the odds were stacked against us you could almost make a movie out of it.

Once again thank you all!

First, congratulations to the top seed 237, you guys got game and one heck of a 'bot. Also congratulations to the winning alliance, along with everyone who showed up.

My thanks to Team 25 for a very well-run event. Everything was great, from the layout to the judges and, yes, even the food. Whose mom made those meatballs? Yum.

It may be hard to imagine, but even finishing dead last, the kids were really enthusiastic and in high spirits. We had the misfortune, after a regional and nationals with no major failures, of having something go wrong in every single round. Go figure.

Finally, yet another thanks to team 25 for being graciously professional on the field when we were down one alliance member and accidentally (and autonomously) disabled our other alliance partner, leaving ourselves alone on the field. Team 25 was kind enough to score a few tetras for us with their 'bot so we wouldn't lose too badly. I have never experienced such a generous spirit in a competition, and am humbled and inspired by that act.

WE HAD FUN

Terrific Competition!

Thanks to 25 for hosting such an awesome event! It was really a lot of fun.

Thanks to 358 for picking us and 369 for being part of the awesome alliance. The finals were really exciting and that last match came down to the wire. 56, 237, and 11 made such a powerful alliance!

We'll see most of you in Trenton in a few months! :D

Yeah, I have video footage of the finals, even though my team did not participate i still thought it would have been a good idea to get it.
I will happy to upload the clips but I will have to go through all the tapes first so give me some time.

That would be great. Thanks.

I would like to thank 25 for putting on such an amazing event.......just as they have in years past.

Now onto Trenton...where I am sure we will see most of you.

We have a whole lot of video that we're in the process of encoding/uploading. I'll post a link once it's all up.

I mirrored 555's really awesome video so you don't have to do that whole queue thing:

I did it on Filefront because my school uses Websense and blocks almost everything fun except that site for some odd reason, and i needed it to get it to school because i havent bought my DVD burner yet.

edit:Websense even blocks Team 555's homepage.

Thank you teams 25 and 999 for being great alliance partners. Thank you team 25 for hosting such a great event. Brunswick Eruption has always been one of the highlights of the off season for me. Congratulations to teams 75,358 and 369 to taking home the title. Our team's first sight of competition as prerookies back in 2003 was at Brunswick Eruption. I am already counting down the days until Brunswick Eruption v5.0. Congratulations to all teams who competed and we'll see you next year!

GO 1403!!!

And I remember two belonging-to-no-team-random-people sitting in the stands of BE in 2003 and it was you and your sister. Who would have guessed that one day we would become friends? Incredible.

Thanks killercows456 for posting the video.

Team 25 rules!!! Thanks for hosting such a great event. We will be back next year.

It is always fun to compete against team 56 they are formidable opponents. (Especially when paired with 237 and 11)
*237 super impressive all around.
*11’s drive train impressed us with both power and maneuverability.
Not to mention the great drivers on all three teams.

That may have even been a tougher alliance than we faced in the finals in Philly (56, 365, 316)

We thought it was all over when we lost our fork during match #2. (We would not have had a fork at all if not for the efforts of team 1089)

Thanks 75 and 369 for getting and keeping your arms working when we could not. Hope to play with you again sometime.
