CD-Media? What's CD-Media?
I have this discussion via PM or IM all the time:
random user: hey, how do i search the white papers?
me: you can't yet. i have to rewrite it to do so.
random user: hey, how do i search for an image?
me: you can't yet. i have to rewrite the image gallery to do so.
So now, imagine this: the 'Picture Galleries' and the 'White Papers' link up top move around, both at opposite ends of your browser window. Facing each other, they both take off at 47 pixels per second. Nobody chickens out -- ka-boom. Introducing: CD-Media.
Photo Gallery. Searchable. Taggable. Noteable. Favorites. Discussion on the image detail and in the 'Extra Discussion' thread. A 'Who Am I' management screen -- giving you the ability to change your picture whenever you want, etc.
White Papers. Searchable. Taggable. Favorites. Discussion on the white paper detail and in the 'Extra Discussion' thread. Multiple Attachments per white paper.
You can watch my custom status for a very rough and ambiguous status. What will it look like? Click below for a sneak preview, which may or may not totally change. It's a picture of the 'everything' tags page. More popular tags are larger than less popular tags, etc. This screenshot should give you a tiny idea of some of the features and how they're broken apart.
http://photos15.flickr.com/19354013_a11f9b8a67_m.jpg (http://photos15.flickr.com/19354013_a11f9b8a67_o.jpg)
When can you use it? I'm aiming for the end of July, but probably more realistically in August.
Will the old gallery & white papers still work? No, all data will be migrated to the new system. The old links will work, but redirect to the image/paper in the new system.
What about all the old images .. they aren't tagged. How will they get tagged? I know you guys are bored in the off-season .. now you won't be. :)
What's this 'tag' thing you keep mentioning? Flickr (http://www.flickr.com/), technorati (http://www.technorati.com/), and a bunch of other new(ish) sites are all using tags. Basically its one or more keywords (or small phrases) that classfiy something. For Flickr (http://www.flickr.com/), images; for technorati (http://www.technorati.com/), links.
So, there -- I am doing stuff, see? :)
*edit* you can watch things happen (http://www.chiefdelphi.com/media) to CD-Media now.

Once again, the man is upto something amazing. All this sounds amazing Brandon. Keep going.
Heh, woot =D
If you need any help on the programming aspect of it, I'd love to help. I'm advanced in OOP PHP.

And Gmail, don't forget Gmail. The tags are the same concepts as labels, correct?

And Gmail, don't forget Gmail. The tags are the same concepts as labels, correct?
Yes, same as labels. I was tempted to not use the Categories anymore, but I figured we'd have a repeat of the Fixed-Width Fiasco of '05 (http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/showthread.php?t=38040), and I would get burned at the stake, or something. :)
Speaking of GMail, we'll also be using Ajax (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AJAX) like Google uses on GMail, Google Maps. Flickr uses it. It's the new thing. I just tested out something quick, and was successful. This is going to really cool. :)
we'll also be using Ajax (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AJAX)
I'd reaaally like to see this when it's done =D now
Brandon is my hero :)
I've been wishing for searchable image galleries forever. Can't wait until this comes out.
Awesome work, Brandon!

I suppose that could be allowable. Now you'll get to see my sloppy development techniques. I just ask that you don't IM, PM, or reply here with "hey, this is broke" or any suggestions until after I ask. Chances are I know about the problem or haven't finished it yet. Once I'm ready, I'll ask for your suggestions to improve it. I want to get it mostly working, first.
Tonight, I've been working with Ajax for the first time. I'm using it to show the White Papers in the lists (it will eventually do the pagination & sorting without a page reload). The CSS is pretty messed up, so .. enjoy. :)

So.. will the tags work harmoniously with the custom captions for each image?
Like.. if I submit a pic with the word tetra in it, can I then search for pictures with the word tetra in the captions?
Brandon Martus
15-06-2005, 00:31
You'll be able to search the titles and descriptions in addition to just browsing via tags. You'd have to tag the picture with 'tetra' for it to show on the 'tetra' tag page.
The cool thing about tags: On a white paper about transmissions, one of the tags it has is 'transmission'. We could then provide a link to possible related pictures (like, those tagged with 'transmission'). Or CD-Swap items tagged with 'transmission' (what? tags on CD-Swap?). Or Spotlight items tagged with 'transmission' (what? tags in the spotlight system?).

One side question: How are we supposed to keep track if you lost count?
It was late, and it's hard to count the lines in all the little templates.
Since I've opened up the page for you all to look at, my custom status may just indicate which part I'm working on (or just worked on) so you can see what's changed.

You can watch my custom status for a very rough and ambiguous status. I made some progress today & tonight, so I figured a post to update would be good. Today I ...
Let CD47-Bot and archiver get some sunlight (http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/pictures.php?action=single&picid=11534); the sunlight did them good, because they proceeded to ..
... give you an option to view (http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/showpost.php?p=391317&postcount=33) the site at either 980px or 100%. CD-Media will be best viewed at a fixed-width of 980px in any standards compliant browser (read: not IE4, IE5, or IE6)
... make the searching work (http://www.chiefdelphi.com/media/search). Right now theres 7 or 8 documents and 7 or 8 photos (but not real photos) in as test data, so the searching is pretty lame right now. Once there is a lot of data, it should bring back good results.
... make the weighted tag list layouts look different. They were added to the photo & paper pages, too. Again, with more data the tags lists will look better (more complete, etc).
... brainstorm some ideas with Joel J (http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/member.php?u=48). of 173/229; Joel had some great ideas and input.
... started a FAQ section for CD-Media (http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/faq.php?faq=cdm_faq). Got any questions? Start PMing them to me. If they won't be answered by future development (ie: a feature that isn't there yet, and you're curious) I will add them to the FAQ.
Things left to do, in the order of attack .. I think:
pages to Upload Photos (http://www.chiefdelphi.com/media/photos/upload/) & White Papers (http://www.chiefdelphi.com/media/papers/upload/)
Single Item pages (http://www.chiefdelphi.com/media/photos/3)
Scripts to import old data.
Tagging of Items via Ajax interface (which includes a user-moderated voting system)
Editing of Item details (via Single Page detail & Ajax)
Who-Am-I Photo management page
Photo Notes
So .. yeah. Lots done, lots to do.
Nice list there. :)
I feel for the Archiver there... that's why I feel like a lot of the time. :D

wow.. something i thought was impossible just happened: Brandon's awesomeness level has grown exponentially! just when you think he's at his peak, he does something new and extremely cool for CD.
Thanks for thinking of us Brandon... this is going to be so cool once it kicks in. :D
Things are looking pretty cool and more organized? (could that really be?)
also, do you really have over 4500 pics on flicker? you must have that camera strapped to your side. I guess if you got it might as well use it!
Great job on everything so far. Looking forward to more and fully functional CD-Media.

I decided to take a look today at what was going on, and I decided to do a photo search (because that is the feature that I'm most looking forward to). I searched for Jeopardy because I saw some in the media gallery (there are something like 100 pictures in there), and it worked!
Brandon, you are the man!
Edit: My bad, there are more pictures than that. w00t!

I haven't had much time to work on it in the past week or two. Things have picked up with IRI next week, and with some additional work on other sites I'm working on.
I'm still aiming to have CD-Media done by mid-August or so.

On the CD Media home page, are there supposed to be images because I don't see them? Just title, uploader, and date and time and then empty gray space where an image should be.
I just wanted to see if they are coming (something not done yet) or if something is not working right for me.
Brandon Martus
12-07-2005, 21:09
None yet. I have to write the import script to create all the thumbnails & whatnot. We'll have multiple sizes before you get to the original sized picture. (to fit in the fixed-width, thumbnail page, etc) This will make it so we don't resize every picture to 1024x768 .. there won't be a size (resolution, not filesize) restriction.
Brandon Martus
31-08-2005, 21:02
I've made some progress on CD-Media, so I thought I'd tell those who were interested (that's you, huh?).
The import scripts are all finished, I believe. They generate thumbnails (2 per picture), and pull over the white papers files, too. The thumbnail script took several hours to run (on over 10,000 images!).
I've had some spare time the past two or three evenings (what?!) and was able to do a bunch of work on the tagging and tagging moderation interfaces. You are now able to add tags to white papers only (for now) both papers and photos. Once added, your peers can vote on these tags. Once there is a unanimous decision (3 for, or 3 against) the voting ends. If there are a few, and a few against .. majority rules after 7 days of voting. Once a tag is added, you may choose to remove it (it starts the voting process with an 'against' from you). Play around with it -- it's far from being done, but it's more functional than not. Anything in square brackets ([vote], [add tag], etc) is temporary and will probably be replaced with a graphic or something more pretty.
Now with a few tags in the system, you can see how easy things like finding the Chairman's Award (http://www.chiefdelphi.com/media/papers/tags/chairmansaward) documents or FLL (http://www.chiefdelphi.com/media/papers/tags/fll) documents can be.
The upload pages don't work yet. The photo one gets to the part where you choose an image, and that's it. I needed to get the thumbnail generation stuff done first, and got sidetracked by the import scripts.
I've started to add a few items to the FAQ about tagging as well. It's not done, it's not final, etc., etc.
So -- There are bugs, I guarantee. It's ugly, for now. Some of it is kind of working, though. Give it a try; this is just test data, cleared out & reset randomly. Feedback is welcome.
Oh, when adding tags, you can put more than one per line. Any multi-worded tags (like "Dean Kamen") should be enclosed in double quotes.
Brandon Martus
31-08-2005, 21:24
Some additions.
Yes, it's slow. There are very few (if any) indexes on the tables .. so it should get speedier once I figure out all the proper indexes required to make it so.
Tag aliasing; You will be able to alias tags where in some cases two tags could work, but displaying and tagging as such would be redundant. (ie: acronyms & what they stand for)
Example:
http://www.chiefdelphi.com/media/papers/tags/firstinternationalpartners
http://www.chiefdelphi.com/media/papers/tags/fip
I will probably also be making some pages to keep track of voting. A page to show your own modifications, and how the voting is going. A page to see all open tag modifications needing people to vote on them. And maybe more ...
Looks awsome, Brandon! I can't wait to see it all together and a regular part of CD! Great job, man!

Brandon -
I noticed some of the tags for individual teams, such as 'frc234' or 'frc25'
Will this be the acceptable standard to tag all team related documents with? This looks like an easy way to find white papers released by a certain team, but will these tags be hidden from the main tags page (http://www.chiefdelphi.com/media/papers/tags/)? If not, I forsee this becoming very clustered.
Brandon Martus
01-09-2005, 08:27
Yep. We will be trying to keep a few tagging standards .. (frc234, frv11, fll15, etc). All will be document in the FAQ/Help section. As for the main page with the random & most popular links, we'll have to see how it goes once we have a ton of tags before we make a decision on what type of tag shouldn't show there.

I've been going on a tagging frenzy, and a few questions emerge.
1) Is there any way to list the folder that it was imported from, at least temporarily? This would be a big help, especially for regionals where they all look the same.
2) When it comes to names, are we using their username, their real name, or what they're known as? (For example, is it Billfred, Billfred Leverette, or William Leverette?)
Brandon Martus
03-09-2005, 11:23
1) The import script will be modified to auto-tag pictures based on what folder they were in. So, once I write that and reimport everything it should be a lot easier to figure stuff out. They'll still need to be tagged further, but it'll give us a big headstart.
2) Names. I'd probably say username (who they're known as), but that's up for discussion.

Tonight's progress:
You can upload photos to CD-Media.
The process isn't final, but it's functional.
Play around if you're curious. All photos will fall into an approval queue that may not be touched for a while, so if your photos disappear like normal .. but never reappear .. thats why.
Brandon Martus
13-09-2005, 08:35
I re-wrote a big chunk of CD-Media last night and Sunday night.
All I have to get working before we switch over for good is:
White Paper Upload Pages
Finalize White Paper Detail Page design
Picture/Paper Approval Pages
Picture/Paper Editing (via Ajax)
"Who Am I" Control Panel
Discussion (on the photo/paper page!)
Re-Import everything
And once re-imported you'll never be stuck wondering where exactly that picture of Amanda doing the birdie dance (http://www.chiefdelphi.com/media/photos/30039) is ever again.
*ducks*
I noticed a bug:
If I make a search which should return no results, it returns a thumbnail for this image (http://www.chiefdelphi.com/media/photos/35862) but with no details and a date of 12-31-1969 07:00 PM. Clicking on the thumbnail brings me back to http://www.chiefdelphi.com/media/photos/.

Just tried a keyword search in the pictures section and got this:
Warning: implode(): Bad arguments. in /cd.media/search.php on line 63
Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /home/chiefdel/public_html/forums/includes/init.php:27) in /cd.media/search.php on line 75
On the search page, you can search either papers or pictures, selected by a radio button. Is it possible to change that to 2 check boxes so people can search both at the same time?

It used to be like that .. and I changed it when I rewrote a lot of CD-Media last week. I don't remember right now why I removed it, but I probably had a valid concern. I know it would be convenient if you could search both, so I'll have to look into putting it back.

I've started using CD-Media to hunt down most of the pictures I hunt down--it looks good.
Three questions come to mind, though...
1) Is there any way to have the list-o-tags on http://www.chiefdelphi.com/media/photos/tags/ show up alphabetically? Unless you know, for example, that there's a decent number of photos tagged frc1293, you're gonna be a while finding the tag.
2) Would it be possible, once you've picked a tag, to refine that based on other tags on the same pictures? (For example, once you get to the page for 2004, a list of tags would be spat out, allowing you to hack that list down to photos tagged with both 2004 and robot.)
3) On some photos, such as http://www.chiefdelphi.com/media/photos/32584, little trash cans pop up beside some tags, but not others. What do those do?
Thanks, Brandon!

I could add that. You can always go to http://www.chiefdelphi.com/media/photos/tags/whatever_tag though ..
2) Would it be possible, once you've picked a tag, to refine that based on other tags on the same pictures? (For example, once you get to the page for 2004, a list of tags would be spat out, allowing you to hack that list down to photos tagged with both 2004 and robot.)
When you search, it also searches the tag tables. I could probably make it only search the tags tables (or only search the title/description) by choice.
3) On some photos, such as http://www.chiefdelphi.com/media/photos/32584, little trash cans pop up beside some tags, but not others. What do those do?
If you think that tag is inappropriate, or maybe doesn't suit that image/paper, you can suggest that it be removed. It goes through the same voting process as it did when it was being added in the first place. If it can't be deleted (in voting process already) then the trash can doesn't show up.

I have few questions:
- Will we be able use [url] tags and similies in the descriptions of pictures in CD Media?
- Also is there any news yet on progress of CD Media and/or final switchover?
- When will the pictures uploaded since the begining of September be imported into CD Media?
So far the new CD Media is simply amazing. Everyone should thank Brandon many, many times when this is done for this wonderful new feature. :)

I- Will we be able use [url] tags and similies in the descriptions of pictures in CD Media? It will support all vBCode tags (url, bold, italics, etc). I may eventually make the description box use the WYSIWYG that is used when creating/editing a post.
Also is there any news yet on progress of CD Media and/or final switchover? I just bought a house .. been busy getting settled. Work's been nuts. Side jobs have been put off and deadlines are getting close w/lots to do. I should have some free time in November to get things going on it and have it ready for the season.
hen will the pictures uploaded since the begining of September be imported into CD Media? CD-Media will be wiped clean and everything from the current gallery will be reimported. All images uploaded to CD-Media that are not also put in the current (old) galleries will be lost. All old links will forward to the new page .. however all old images (if referenced in a post) may be broken images. I have to see how hard it would be to make that all just magically still work.

I've been doing little things here & there on CD-Media. It's been going slower than I had planned, but things are still being done:
There's new icons on the right of things (favorite, delete, approve, reject) that you may be able to see, if you have permission to. They all are functioning (or at least seem to ..) The tag/vote links on the tagging area have been repalced by some icons, too.
Showing the discussion thread in-line has been added to photos. Well, until I re-import .. it only shows on one photo. It's nowhere near done, but if you're curious: http://www.chiefdelphi.com/media/photos/30851 (near the bottom).
Next/Previous links show on the photos now.
Those are the big changes in the past week or so .. that, and random bug fixes.
I have no estimate on when this will be complete, but I wanted to let those who are anxious about it know that it hasn't gotten left behind.
Just for kicks, I tried to tag the image you linked to. Tagging worked fine, but then I tried to vote on the tag change. It gives me a box with something about "no comments," and a cancel and vote button, but when I click the "Vote" button, I get:
Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /cd.media/action.php on line 147

Can you guys go to the White Papers upload page (on CD-Media) and test out adding/removing attachments. I want to make sure the DOM code I used works for a majority of you. It may have issues in earlier IE and Mozillas, but if you're relatively up to date there shouldn't be problems.
The upload functionality doesn't work, but that won't be hard to add in.
If you do test it out, can you post what Browser (and version, and on what OS) you used, and affirm that it did or didn't work. Don't duplicate if your browser/version/os combo has been spoken for.
IE6 - Windows XP : works
Mozilla 1.5 - Windows XP : works

CD-Media now accepts file uploads. If you wouldn't mind, can some of you try to create a white paper with some attached files? Reply if you have any problems or suggestions, etc.
The papers will be auto-approved, for now. I'm not sure which way that will end up being in the final system (auto-approval, or approval by mods).
Next up:
Attach more files, post-creation.
Edit paper & photo information. (hooray for Ajax)

When can you use it? I'm aiming for the end of July, but probably more realistically in August. Well, I never said what year! :)
CD-Media (http://www.chiefdelphi.com/media/) may go live next week, and completely replace the existing picture gallery and white papers system. The last thing I have to get in there is a Who-Am-I manager. The uploading/editing/tagging of photos and papers all works -- I think.
How do you edit the title, description, excerpt? If you uploaded the photo or paper, just click on what you want to edit! Easy, eh?
So, this is where you come in.
Here is what I need -- please, please, please! Upload photos and white papers, tag them, vote on tags, edit the info, delete them, make them favorites, search for them, use and abuse the system. I don't care if the white paper you upload is a word document with "hi, im testing" in it (just keep it clean, and within the rules). The image can be you on your family vacation -- just test the system. All approvals are turned off, so your stuff should show up instantly.
Send me a PM with any issues, suggestions, questions, comments you may have. This will help emmensely .. I wrote the system, so chances are if there any bugs in there I have missed, I probably won't see them easily; fresh eyes will.
Once CD-Media is done, I've got another really cool project to work on (and hopefully it will be done faster than CD-Media).
Thanks! :)

I wanted to thank everybody, especially Greg Ross, for sending in a bunch of bug reports -- you've found some weird bugs and offered up some great suggestions.
I've finished the Who Am I thing .. it's pretty simple to do...
1) upload the picture to CD-Media
2) tag it with 'Who Am I' .. a little 'My Name Is' nametag (http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/images/cdm_whoami.gif) shows up by the 'favorite' and other icons.
3) Click that icon .. and ta-da, that image is your Who Am I.
So now you can change it at any time! Want to go back to an old one? No problem! :)
So .. I guess now I just have to write up some more FAQ items, fix the portal listings of pictures and papers, and then it may be ready to go live next week (yeah, I said that last week -- but I mean it for real, now.)
I will still gladly take bug reports .. please please please test! :)

I might make CD-Media (http://www.chiefdelphi.com/media/) live in 2-3 hours. Please, if you have 5 minutes, go test out (http://www.chiefdelphi.com/media/) some of the functionality and send me a PM if you find something broken.
New discussion threads is turned off -- old ones can be replied to.
The complete Who-Am-I (http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/images/cdm_whoami.gif) system is turned off, till CD-Media goes live.
Tagging works -- go tag (http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/images/cdm_tag.gif) some files. Vote (http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/images/cdm_vote.gif) for some tags. Vote against some tags.
Uploading works -- upload an image. Make a white paper.
Editing works -- find one of your old images/papers .. click on the description, title, or excerpt .. edit it .. save it .. cancel 1/2 way thru .. use vBCode .. use HTML .. etc., etc.
Favorites (http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/images/cdm_fav.gif)works -- make some pictures your favorites. Take them off your favorites list.
Searching works .. give it a go. (http://www.chiefdelphi.com/media/)
I will turn off the old galleries/papers, clear CD-Media, and then re-import.
I hope to do this later this evening. Finally.

Didn't work for me. Do changes have to be approved? I tried changing the title of "Beach 'Bot view 1" a couple of times, but it remained unchanged.
I also tried changing "BASIC Stamp Preprocessor v2.13" (to add a line to the beginning of the description.) When I clicked "Save", the description was replaced with a "refreshing http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/images/cdm_loading.gif" message. (It never did refresh.) I clicked on the title, and then the "Cancel" button, and the title was changed to the text of the description!
I tried changing the description again, and this time the text was changed to
"refreshing http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/images/cdm_loading.gif"! (See screen shot below.)
Tagging works -- go tag (http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/images/cdm_tag.gif) some files. Vote (http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/images/cdm_vote.gif) for some tags. Vote against some tags.
[A nit: ] After clicking on "for", "against" or "abstain", if I tab to the comment field, the field is cleared (of the "comments, especially when against" message), and it receives focus (i.e. you can type in it), but the caret doesn't show up until you start typing.
I voted against a tag which (from the way you described to me how tag voting works) apparently had been hanging around for over two weeks, and had had no votes cast either for or against it, because it immediately disappeared. In my opinion, the fact that there were no votes against it for two weeks should at least count as one vote FOR the tag. Maybe a vote should require a quorum before a tag could be considered voted down.

I just voted in favor of two tags (Brazil and Meeting) on photo "BrAzIl at work!(+-)" and those tags disappeared!
Never mind. I don't know what I was looking at. They're there now/again.

The editing problems should be fixed now. I was an admin, and that part worked .. I forgot to remove my admin flag and try to edit .. all is well now.
The problems where the 'refreshing' is stuck -- see if that happens again. If so, let me know on what photo/paper and with what browser you're using. I guess before testing, clear your cache (or at least SHIFT+REFRESH a CD-Media page).
The tag issues are probably things we'll have to work out as the system is used. I'll be making pages to see what items need voting, etc., so people with lots of free time will be able to take care of a lot of the voting and hopefully knock down the queue faster than the 2-week limitation (which we can always extend as far as we need).
The next (and final) import will auto-tag items based on the folder they were in (ie: any in the VCU regional folders will get 'NASA/VCU Regional' and 'NASA/VCU Regional 2006' and 2006 and regional automatically. All auto-tagged items can be edited, if one doesn't fit for some reason. That tag cloud on the tags page is going to look interesting with 10,000 images auto-tagged during import.

CD-Media -- it's getting closer.
Firefox 1.0.7 - Ubuntu 5.10 Breezy : Works*
*Running into issues deleteing the stuff that I uploaded, but it goes up no problem.

Safari is special, and CD-Media may not be 100% functional in it at the get-go. Any errors or behavior you can describe?

I tried deleteing the attachment and the paper and it just won't go away. I clicked the garbage can and nothing happened....until just now when it worked. I tried deleting the attachment for awhile with no luck. But I think you fixed it now anyway.
Would you happen to need a full test of Firefox 1.5, Mozilla (the original), or Epiphany Web Browser in Ubuntu? From just browsing through it with the 3 everything appears to be working well.

Any testing you can do would be great -- the main browsers have been accounted, for, though. IE6, Mozilla/FireFox, Opera(?) and Safari. I'm going to finish up some of the auto-tag settings, and then begin the final import, I think.

I guess you don't need this, but everything looks good in Opera 8.5. I can check it in Opera 9 preview 2 if you'd like.

Everything works now from what I can tell.
Don't forget to use double quotes around names & small phrases (ie: "Dave Lavery") otherwise each word gets added as a separate tag.

I still have a problem editing the white paper description (where the "refreshing" message stays there. The white paper is "BASIC Stamp Preprocessor v2.13".) This time I noticed that IE6 reported an error on the page: "Line: 1972; Char: 4; Error: Unknown runtime error; Code: 0; URL: http://www.chiefdelphi.com/media/papers/60"
When I reload the page, the correct (edited) text is there.
I couldn't provoke the "refreshing"-in-the-description again.
Oops. I just cleared my cache, and was going to try editing the description again, and NOW ALL OF CD-MEDIA IS GONE! NO PHOTOS, NO TAGS, NO WHITEPAPERS. JUST AN EMPTY SHELL! (Did you just delete everything for the reload?)
I guess so, since I just tried again, and saw: "off while i import.. --brandon"

Still getting an error when I click "Save" after editing the whitepaper description: "Line: 1970; Char: 4; Error: Unknown runtime error; Code: 0; URL: http://www.chiefdelphi.com/media/papers/1355"
Note: This is when editing the long description (on the light background), not the short description (in the gray box.)
IE6 SP1, Win2K Pro SP4
The error seems to be in function cdmSaveResponse() on this command:elt.innerHTML = saveAjax.response;

I thought it's because 'description' is a reserved word in JavaScript in IE .. I thought I fixed it, but I guess not.
It works on my IE6 (Win XP) 6.0.2900.2180.xpsp_sp2_gdr.050301-1519

I get the same error at home on my laptop. Same IE6 version as yours. Win XP Pro v2002 SP2. I'm trying to remember how to check my Java version, but Java Update tells me I have the latest version.
