IRI is a little over a week away and 1213 is short one person for our drive team. If any student plans to attend but are unattached, we need you on our team as human player.

Competition experience would be a plus – those HP penalties can really hurt  OTOH, it’s pretty much an autoloader machine, so we can make do with someone who’ll just stand on the pad.

Of course we’ll need to know that your parents are OK with you joining us. I guess the best way would be via the standard parental consent form. I’ll provide my phone number so that they can call me & work that out. Better yet, if you parent will also be there, then they can join us too – we’re short two adults for the adult-drive-team match.

Thanks in advance – PM or E-mail if you’re interested.

PS: Just in case any locals (Oakland County?) are interested - We’re leaving from Waterford, MI @ 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, 21 July, returning Sunday morning, and have the room(s).

If you are unable to get a student, and just need to have someone "stand on the pad"... you can always ask the IRI guys if they will let you just use the 2 drivers. The scoring system allows an override for the pads, so by simply clicking a button they can simulate a person standing there. Of course, unfortunatly, you're giving up any use of the human player zone with that option... but figured I'd throw it out there for consideration.

Thanks for the info, Mike. My son was scorekeeper at four regionals and the Nats, but somehow failed to inform me about that.

The two of us and his friend from 1140 have been practicing & tweaking for many hours; we'll get-er-done one way or another.

there are no other students on your team that are going? it's just the drive team? usually during off season events you throw random team members on the drive team to give them some experience...even get new recruits in there. During Battlecry we put a freshman in as HP and he did good, and during Beantown Blitz we put a kid who's never been on the drive team before operate the arm and we were finalists.

Sigh - Everyone has baseball, golf, jobs, or started college early. But we've got a good robot, a engineer, and two drivers - all itching to get to IRI.

We've got a couple extra people going. I'm sure one of them would be happy to help. I can't say you'll always have the same person, but I'll volunteer someone.

Great! Call me old fashioned; but I like to know where my 16 year old is and who he's with. :) He knows that excuses like, "We didn't think you'd care?", don't cut it. I'm sure the parents wouldn't mind, but we should extend the courtesy of asking.

I'm the coach next weekend, so we can help out.
