Well I've just added some stuff to the FIRST Wiki pages on scouting and I would really appreciate some feedback/suggestions. If you think something big is missing, just jump on in and add it!

Also, if you can think of any teams that did anything really impressive with their scouting this year, could you please PM me about it? I'm looking for areas that our team can improve on.

Thanks for your help people!

Use full stuff. It would be nice to have a sample scouting sheet up. Another thing is using couting before and after compitition. A good part of my conversation here (besides the fact i just love all your company :D ) has to to do with me scouting for ideas for next year. Also once the season starts you can go here for looking at how people come up with solutions with challenges. Quite a bit of scouting goes on outside of actual game play.

Check out the whitepaper (http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/papers.php?&categoryid=5&action=display&perpage=10&sort=date&direction=DESC&page=1) section to get few Scouting Data.

Yeah I like the idea for sample scouting sheets and such up. I'll be posting those up soon. Thanks for the feedback, what do you mean by "using couting before and after compitition"? This is just a rough draft right now, I just felt like there was a lot missing on the wiki page, so I put some of this stuff. It has a lot of room for improvement. I'm also trying to look for some scouting related pictures if anyone has any of those.

I'd apriciate your contributions.

I think what he means by scouting before the competition is many teams look at pictures of teams robot, videos of teams robots, and the like on chiefdelphi or on a team website before a competition. This way they have an idea of what things will be like and will be able to focus their attention on certain teams. A very important thing when scouting is to have a picture of a robot. Stats are important but a picture is worth a thousand stats, seriously. Trying to pick an alliance parter in 15 minutes with only mental images and 40 odd scouting sheets in order by number is not fun, at all, and doesn't work.

gotcha, I know what you are talking about. I was going to write an artical on pre-comp scouting, with useful links, like which teams are shutterbugs and such. I'll be putting that in a seperate section. Thanks for your help guys!

Yeah thats exactly what I meant but I also talk regularly with other team members all over the US. We mostly throw about new ideas and share expertise. By the way if anyone here wants to talk feel free to IM me.

You guys might want to check this out right here. It is our database and I think it has som stuff about our scouting sheets themselves. That is the scouting DB for 2004. I can't seem to find the scouting DB for 2005.

We were actually thinking about possibly re-doing the FIRST scouting network becasue I havn't really seen it being used. If it has been used then nevrmind. But we would colaborate with all the other teams from other regionals so that thy could scout the matches for us with some scouting sheets that would be created using input from CD possibly. All the information about the matches could be uploaded onto our database and then seen by all the teams on the internet.

If anyone is interested in helping us out in anyway, PM me and let me know.
