I could be wrong, but I always thought it was CoopeRtition... coming from the verb cooperate.

Coopertition >>> coopertete

Adds a bit of opportunity ^^

See, I always remembered it as coopertition as well. Then people all over started in with the coopetition and it confused me. Maybe there was a highly contagious typo somewhere or something, but I also thought the original form was easier on the tongue and made more sense.

And you would be correct.. The name comes from the 2000 game called "Co-Opertition FIRST" and the name in my opinion was more of a hint of things to come in the 2001 game "Diabolical Dynamics". It also ushered in an era of ((n) x (your oponents score)) - in 2000's case, 3 times your opponents score - being your qualification so as not to kill the other alliance in points in a match - playing fair and fun rather than beating someone senslessly and scoring say 100 to 0 in a match makes more of an exiting game..

Co-Opertition itself was a take on not only cooperation, but competition, and some say that the 2001 game was the most horrible game ever in the history of FIRST cause there was actually.. no competition since everyone was on the same team during a match..

(But let's not get into that right now) :ahh:
