Dean Kamen addressed a crowd (http://www.hartford.edu/daily/news.asp?id=640) at the opening of the new IEST (Integrated Science, Engineering and Technology) complex at the University of Hartford (http://www.hartford.edu) (CT) yesterday. The opening was broadcast on CT-N channel (http://www.ctn.state.ct.us/) as well, with a repeat scheduled for today at 11:59am EST. It can also be viewed online (http://ctnv1.ctn.state.ct.us/MISC/uha_8-29-05.wmv). University of Hartford is a sponsor of FRC team 782, Kilowatts, and offers FIRST students scholarships (http://www.usfirst.org/robotics/2005/scholarshipsummary.htm).

During Monday’s ISET opening, U.S. Rep. John B. Larson presented the university with a $1.03 million check for research into laser-guided manufacturing.

The grant was awarded by the nonprofit, federally-funded Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology (http://www.ccat.us) (CCAT), a national center for next-generation manufacturing based at Rentschler Field in East Hartford.
