I have gotten few pms and messages on aim about not being able to access the SOAP site. I attended team 108's meeting today and talked to the webmaster, Matt Keller (amprancid). I know there are few teams out there who are trying to get videos of matches so they can use it in their promo video/recruiting. Well SOAP site is working.

Instead of going to www.soap108.com ... go to http://soap.sigmacatrobotics.com and you will get a huge gallery full of movies. Enjoy.

Thanks Matt.

Arefin, you're my hero.

EDIT: Um the link doesn't work for me in Firefox or IE. Ideas?

EDIT2: Oi, it works now.

The link works perfectly fine for me (I am using Mozilla). If you are still having trouble, try to type it in.

I believe the site you were thinking of was soap.circuitrunners.com because I remember that ther were a bunch of videos that 108 put up there. I may be wrong. soap.circuitrunners.com will not be working for a little while because our host Randy with sevaa.com is currently switching servers or something like that.

Team 108 has been doing SOAP for a long time. There might have been movies on soap.circuitrunners.com (I didn't personally know about it). But usually when one looks for the soap site they go to www.soap108.com (which isn't working for the past few days/now). In order to get access to the SOAP site (Videos from Florida, Midwest, and Championship) go to http://soap.sigmacatrobotics.com ...

Okay now I get to the site but and can get all the way to lets say einstein for the championship event. But when I click on that I get a 404. :(

I am sorry Ian. I should have checked the links before I posted. The movies should be up anytime. The whole purpose of this thread was to let one know about the other link of SOAP.

Sorry about the issue's guys. I have absolutely no idea what is going on.

1) Our normal domain, soap108.com, should be working but there has been problems with it recently. I beleive it was a billing issue that has yet to be resolved.

2) circuitrunners has been our host for videos for years, but all of a sudden something has gone wrong, and I have no idea, or control over that. As far as I know, that is the only place in which we have our videos. Im hoping we have backups at Motorola, but I can't make any promises.

Both of these I will be trying to resolve in the next couple of days.

On a good note, we will be releasing the beta version of our new site in december which will be quite a treat. I could release more information, but I wont. hehe.

Regards,
Matt

Matt, If you get access to the files and would like another place to have for storage I can setup an FTP access to my server, It would be a little slower until October but I have plenty of space and many of the files are already there.

I spent my last saturday going through EVERY 2004 UCF video. they aren't labeled what teams are in which match, so i just downloaded them all to find 1390 video. took a couple hours, no biggie.

My main request from the SOAP guys: I NEED MAYHEM VIDEO PLEASE! I am working on a new 1390 video, and having some video of matches and the award ceremony from the competition would be greatly appreciated. If it is not able to be put up on SOAP, who can I get in contact with to obtain mayhem @ the museum video in wmv or dvi format?

Thanks SOAP for the awesome service you provide.

If you need it, I have a CD (courtesy Ron Karpinski from #225) that contains the Saturday qualifier matches at the 2005 Chesapeake Regional. Unfortunately, it's three thousand miles away from where I currently am, so I'd have to get it shipped out to me, but I have access to the data if you need it.

I wasn't around @ mayhem so I have no idea on anything that went on there. I know soap didn't do anything. sorry.

There were few people (including Dillard) who were video taping all the matches from Mayhem. I will get in touch with the teachers/sponsors to see if they still have it. If they do, I will ask the SOAP guys if they would put it up on the site. :)

Wasn't M.A.R.S. doing some filming?

The zone entry for circuitrunners.com no longer contained soap.circuitrunners.com.

I've restored it and everything should be back up and running. If not, try clearing your DNS cache or waiting for it to expire.

If something like this happens in the future, someone form soap should submit a helpdesk ticket via https://helpdesk.sevaa.com so the issue can be resolved ASAP.

I recall seeing some guys in Sigmac@t jerseys running around with a large video camera. I was almost sure something was being done.

Thanks Arefin for your help!

Maybe there was someone doing such from 108, but not from soap directly. We we're all out of town.

I would require some sort of login to submit a ticket. BTW, how can I reach you directly? I have a question.

No tickets were received regarding this account; however, Kenny did send me an email. While yes, this did resolve the issue, you've got to remember only I check my email and many techs check the helpdesk :).

Please direct any questions to the helpdesk.

Thank you,
-Randy

I have gotten more messages from several chiefdelphi users asking me about the SOAP site and if it working. Out of curiosity, I was checking the soap site out and see if the movies are working. Looks like they are up. All of them...

soap.sigmacatrobotics.com

Check it out... :)

Arefin, and anyone else looking for videos from soap or other regionals, in case soap goes down again. I should have by the end of tonight every file from 2005 which soap had, in addition to files which I recorded from the westmichigan regional ( although they're very large right now, but high quality). All of the files are active and available for download/viewing.

If anyone has other videos of their matches (from the main screen) or other locations where soap didn't attend but you did record it as digital video or converted to digital please PM me to upload them to my server, I would like to have as much as possible from 2005 and for the up coming 2006 season. I have plenty of bandwidth and storage so there is NO worry and I run all the server equipment myself.

I happened to go to the site today, and I noticed that version 3 of SOAP is coming up next year. (Woot!)

Out of curiosity, is there any way to access the old site in the meantime?

Just a note, the database queries point to the main site (the one under construction). The 2005 movies are at http://soap.sigmacatrobotics.com/v2/?page=database/movie/2005, and the 2004 ones are at http://soap.sigmacatrobotics.com/v2/?page=database/movie/2004

<edit>Actually, you have to append v2 to everything until you see movie links.</edit>

Whoops! There was an error in the way the pages were linked after I moved the directory of last year's site. Its all fixed now. I also added a version 2 link to the bottom of the splash page. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Great job to SOAP for the database and videos. I happen to be looking for movies from the 2004 Lone Star Regionals quarter, semi and final matches. Are there any web site databases with those matches?

Has SOAP produced a white paper on how they capture all the files during the regionals and then do the quick edit and post? It would be great if more teams can provide this service so that every regional is archived.

Hey Andrew,

There is a whitepaper floating around somewhere and I'll post back if I can find it.

If you need a place to upload the video, email Sevaa @ promo@sevaa.com. They provide the hosting for SOAPs video and would offer you pretty much anything you need.
