RE: DATE CHANGE: FRC Pre-Registration and NASA Grants
DATE: September 14, 2005

As part of developing an improved FRC registration system for 2006, FIRST has been in the process of migrating to a new version of our database software. Recent testing has revealed the need for additional, unplanned refinements to this registration system.

Therefore, the opening for 2006 pre-registration will now be Thursday, September 22, 2005 at noontime, EDT.

We apologize for the delay, but we believe that making these refinements now will result in a more efficient and timely FRC registration process for teams.

In addition, to better coordinate information flow, the pre-registration date for NASA grants has also been moved to Thursday September 22, 2005.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

Ok, this would explain why it's not letting me preregister. Did you get this via email or just from the website?

This message was sent out in an email to all team contacts on the mailing list, I believe.

For a while, I stopped receiving these email blasts. The old listserv site that let you manually register to be on the mailing list appears to be dead. I recently sent an email to frcteams@usfirst.org explaining my position on my team and requesting that I be placed back on the list, and I started receiving the emails again.

Ok, guess I'll figure out why my team isn't getting the emails

What's this? FIRST is using buggy software? Never! :)

How many Grants is NASA giving out this year? Our team wants to apply and I was curious about exactly how many they give out.

The NASA grants usually only pertain to teams attending NASA Regionals. There are a certain # of regionals every year that are NASA Regionals, and grants are made avaliable to the teams attending those regionals.

The # of grants given out is usually not released to the best of my knowledge. Look for more info once they get their database working.

Watch the FIRST website on September 22. New information regarding NASA grants will be available at that time.

(and once again, I will remind everyone: rules from prior years DO NOT apply to this year! :) )

What are the NASA Regionals?

What are the NASA Regionals?

Some regionals are funded heavily by NASA. In past years you had to attend one of those regionals to get certain types of NASA grants. But just like the game, the rules do change from time to time. So read whatever rules are posted VERY carefully before you decide you do or don't qualify.
