Thanks for pointing that out Tytus. I have heard the rumor also. I would like to get more information on that. You know it... if there is a competition in Florida... Arefin has to make it there. :)

Rumor has it that the 2005 Robot Rodeo will be October 22. (Why can't it be a week ahead, so I can do something interesting during fall break?!)

In any event, I'm interested in volunteering if I can find another Prestonite willing to split the gas money. Details (as with everything else regarding the Rodeo) will emerge.

The following came from Dan Welsh (Disney), who has been a primary supporter of the Rodeo since its beginings:

Tytus, more info to follow .... plan on the Rodeo at Freedom High School, Orlando, October 22. Will start at 9 AM and run most of the day. We will be playing last year's game on a FIRST field that we're having shipped in.

Plan on bringing any game tetras that you have.

Also, there's a fee of $100 per team, to cover costs of field shipping, custodial, etc, etc.

I'll email you the detailed agenda in the near future, we look forward to having Team 179 here for the Rodeo.

Thanks.
Dan .

P.S., the exact location is Freedom High School in South Orlando, the street address is:
Freedom High School

Please do, because we have car wash fund raisers already planned for that day. They are mandatory events for our students. Without something "official", S.P.A.M. won't consider making exceptions.

I posted about this in the S.P.A.M. forum (http://www.spamrobotics.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=281) a while back, been holding off to put in on CD until more information has been released.

it will be at FREEDOM high school (not evans) and definitely on October 22. More information is coming, no spreading rumors that there isn't going to be one.

I will be asking soon about what the process is on signing up for volunteering and am happy to host any out-of-towners that would like to volunteer for the event. Contact me.

There will be plenty of spots, there is only 45 teams in florida, any other rodeos havent even gotten 20, so not worried about it.

I received this e-mail this morning. This is from the official desk of Dan Welsh.

Teams, just a reminder of the Robot Rodeo, on October 22 at Freedom High School in South Orlando. At this event, there will be some terrific high school robotics teams, competing in the 2005 FIRST Robotics Competition game, on an official FIRST field. Also, there will be plenty of time for you to meet with other teams and share ideas and successes, as you build your teams for the upcoming year. So be at Freedom High School at 8:30 AM on Saturday Oct 22, we will have demonstrations and matches all day until about 6 pm. See you there ....

Yes. I know there was no pre-registration, and I know everyone has been told to "pay at the door" which still applies... But we need all teams that are going to RSVP so we know how many tables should go in the pits etc. Here is the official e-mail from Dan Welsh today

Teams, please let me know if you are attending the Rodeo on Oct 22 at Freedom High School ..... we want to make sure we have pit space and practice slots for all the teams available. Also, if you have a head count on the approx number of team members who will attend, that will be helpful also.

Just reply to me or to Gordon Andrews at Freedom HS Team 1402 ....

My email is: dan.welsh@disney.com

Gordon is at andrewg@ocps.net

See you on the 22nd ....

Dan .

P.S., remember the team registration fee is $100 per team, just bring it to the event. We appreciate your helping with the field costs, etc etc.

Robot Rodeo Re-scheduled (Hurricane)

Teams, due to weather issues we are re-scheduling the Robot Rodeo at Freedom High School. The event will Not be held this Saturday, due to the potential arrival of Hurricane Wilma in Florida this weekend. Since numerous teams from Florida's west coast and central area are potentially effected by this storm, we have decided to postpone the event. The new date for Robot Rodeo will be published shortly.

PLEASE NOTE; the Robot Rodeo is not cancelled, merely re-scheduled. Freedom High School Team 1402 is currently working out the new schedule date, and you will recieve the new date info by email in the next few days.

Thank you for your flexibility in dealing with this change.

The Robot Rodeo awards are ready, the teams are ready, and Freedom High School Team 1402 will have us a new date set up in the next few days .... stay tuned for more info,

Thanks again.

November 12th is a S.P.A.M. carwash, I know that, the 5th would mean that all of our team members would be able to go instead of just rookies and select veterans. Just my $.02

The rodeo can't revolve around an individual team's schedule... I think Nov. 12th probably is the best date, would not be good to have it on an SAT day. That being said... I had nothing to do with it.

I have to agree with Barry, any weekend that could've been chosen would be conflict with at least 1 team. I think that considering the last-minute reschedule this is the best that could be done for everybody. I think this'll be a really great event still, and I'm looking forward to it.

It just dawned on me...Dance to give kids a chance is Nov. 12.

But I guess that's irrelevant hehe.

But heres a little story, about our prep. for the Rodeo...

So last year our driver and arm operater graduated...so we're trying to find people who are just as good. So, I was like I WANT TO DRIVE. So, they let me drive it untill I nearly knocked out half out mentors..the arm was fully out, with a tetra on it...and I spun it the wrong way =[

I still have no idea what to expect with the Rodeo...

I just got an email from Dan Welsh.

Robot Rodeo NOT being held this year.

Teams, I'm sorry to report that we will be postponing our Robot Rodeo for this year. As you know, the event had been scheduled for November 12 at Freedom High School. Unfortunately, due to many logistics problems and serious cost issues involving the playing field shipping from FIRST, etc, we will not be able to have the event this year.

I hope that you will be at the next Robot Rodeo in Fall 2006.

We have been holding the Robot Rodeo in Central Florida for the last 5 years, and we will make sure it continues to be a high-quality event. We would not want to put on the event without being able to play the full game, etc, .... we believe it's better to postpone it for this year, rather than doing something that would not meet or exceed the standards of past Rodeos.

I assure you we'll be working to overcome this year's hurdles and will bring back the Robot Rodeo, bigger and better in Fall 2006 !

In the meantime, many of you will be at the DeVry University Orlando Campus, Robot BootCamp on Saturday Nov 19, we'll see you there.

Thanks, and sorry for the late-breaking bad news.

Wishing you all success in the upcoming FIRST Season,

Dan Welsh .

Recieved this e-mail today, thought I'd share it with the community.

Teams, want to point out that the Robot Rodeo at Colonial High School in Orlando is on October 28, (and Not the 21st as had been accidentally posted). Sorry for any confusion about the date.

Robot Rodeo is a FIRST Robotics event, playing last year's game on a full-size field. A detailed agenda for the event will be out soon.

Robot Rodeo will be at Colonial HS in Orlando; Colonial High is located on the east side of Orlando, near the intersection of Route 50 (Colonial Dr) and Rt 436 (Semoran Blvd).

More details to follow. See you at Robot Rodeo on October 28, 2006.

To register, please email me with your team number and contact name.

thanks.
Dan .

I like how they included "full-size field" in the description. I think it might just be a nod to Mission Mayhem's Aim (well, kinda) High game...

Anywho, I must reiterate my question from last year, is this going to be an official FIRST field?

Two weeks till the competition? It takes 3 to 4 weeks just to go through the book keeper to get the registration money... at this point, my team would need the registration info as soon as possible.

This is the first official announcement about the rodeo, I do not believe registration has even officially opened yet. I am not involved with planning the event, I just wanted to share the information I received with everyone else. I can accept no credit or blame if the event goes well or if it goes awesome. All questions should be directed to Dan Welsh at Dan.welsh@disney.com

Perhaps the 2006 edition should have its own thread.

Can we please start this in a new thread for 2006 to avoid confusion.

Conflicting dates locations... all kinds of stuff just give it a new thread.
