do we know how much difference there is between the clockwise and counterclockwise direction (at full speed ... if there is not simple equation to find it)

and the chuck means nothing to us right? as we have the threaded end?

im no motor expert (although i try to be) but as far as i know there isnt any formula to calculate the torque and rpms of the motor in reverse also another note:


the 450 rpms is for the motor in 3rd gear
1400, 2nd (what my team uses)
and 1800 3rd

and correct you dont worry about the chuck but word of advise is to make sure the bolt is tightened atleast after every match because last year the bolt holding the sproket to the drill came off and we were out for the entire compition because of other allignment issues this caused

yea we use 2nd gear too. it was a guess lastyear and worked awsome. have you put threadlock on the reverse screw? we did that last year and never had it loosen. and well since the different speeds of the motor in clockwise and counter are due to the timimng of the motor,its a possibilty there's an efficiency finding equation. if the timing was zero and you well assume the motor running full speed efficiency is 100% (which it isnt i knw) then for each degree in the advanced direction would yield X % decrease in efficiency and Y % increase in revs. i think. or maybe not. it woulda been useful info tho. too bad.
how did you guys mount the motor last year? this year we have tried the square aluminum sandwich idea. its AMAZING compared to the Ubolt we used last year

yup yup we used the u bolt last year but are going to attempt the aluminum sandwich this year as well , yes we did put locktite on the clockwise thread but the motor that is constanly going in reverse pulls against the bolt (i think) and it can weaken the locktite and thats what happened to us

Remember that the motor is limited to 30 amps of current, so you will not get anywhere near this much torque out of the motors when they are on your robot!
