has anyone tried to use a usb to serial cord for the cmucam2 on a laptop and got it to work. how do you get the laptop to recognize that its coming from the usb port :confused:

Well you can't use the adapter that came with your mouse, the protocol is different. The mouse logic is setup to be either a USB or a serial port, and uses voltage level to sense which mode it is in. The good news is you can buy an adapter: http://www.provantage.com/buy-7tdwu00c-usb-serial-converter-1-9-pin-trendware-int-039-firewire-tu-s9-shopping.htm. This is one I found by googling USB serial adapter.
