NASA Robotics Alliance Project would like to offer 8 exciting classes in a series. An online course for university or upper high school will be offered Tuesdays and Thursdays from October 25 - November 17 (1:30pm-2:30pm Pacific time) to students who are interested in robotics, science, and engineering. Eight lectures will be given by scientists and engineers from NASA and the Spanish Centro de Astrobiología in Madrid. Their project goal is to develop technology for drilling for life on Mars using the Rio Tinto (Spain) Mars analog. The team is developing these protocols by testing a robotic coring drill this Fall, and they will share their data and engineering expertise with students taking this course. Topics will include robotic drilling for planetary exploration, sample handling, remote operations, surface-lander design, and field testing at the Rio Tinto Mars analog. Audio and captioning will be available in Spanish and English. Students will have the opportunity to ask the engineers and scientists questions via chatroom.

Students, teachers, and parents are welcome also to audit the course. Registration for the course can be completed through our website at http://robotics.nasa.gov/courses/fall05/ . Please don't hesitate to contact me for more information. mgoldschmid@mail.arc.nasa.gov
