I cannot wait. This is my first competition since Atlanta, talk about going cold turkey. :p Ramp Riot rules, see ya in a week!
GO 1403!!!
We will be hosting a NEMO Conference run by Kathie Kentfield. Please see below:
NEMO (Non-Engineering Mentor Organization) Meeting
Does your team have concerns about fundraising, recruiting new mentors, retaining the mentors you do have, travel arrangements, public relations? If so, join your fellow mentors in a discussion on these topics and others related to supporting the non-technical side of an FRC team. The meeting will be held during the lunch break in a location TBD. Please come prepared with a list of your team’s top three concerns. For more information, contact Kathie Kentfield, kentfieldk@earthlink.net.

Please don't forget our annual canned food drive. Last year we collected 900 cans. If every team just brought 50 cans this year, we could double that amount to 1800 cans!!
All food gets sent immediately to the Ambler Community Cupboard for distribution to the needy and to Hurricane Katrina Victims housed in the Philadelphia area.
As you know the team that brings the most cans will win a trophy and an attache toolbox (compliments of Technitool) !
Thank you in advance for contributing to this worthy cause.
Al Ostrow
With a little over one day left until Ramp Riot 2005 things are looking great.
We have an awesome field of 36 Teams !
A rocking opening ceremony & video that will honor all attending teams!
Radio Station 96.5 FM giving away prizes and making call-ins to the station
Face Painting for the kids, VEX Robot driving zone, i-Pod Nano Raffle
You name it, its happening here!
But the most important thing we have is the a group of dedicated teams that play here every year.

I'll be there with 1403, we're bringing some cans for the drive too. It should be a great competition I can't wait! 14 hours and 45 minutes until the pits open!
The robot can't wait either!
the 'birds are coming :) we have quite a few number of the posters throughout our school, so I think we'll have a good team turn out too - I can't wait!

I'll be there just to watch.. coming with another 1089-er, and two girls that are both related to team 25. But I don't think either one is officially on it. I heard it was one of the best off-seasons around, so I'll be scouting it out for a possible off-season for my team for next year =p. Unfortunately this year the date didn't work for our advisor.

I just returned from the competition and must say I had a great time. Thanks to all who made it possible. Also, great job to the alliance I was with in the quarter-finals. You did a great job. We went out fighting!

wow.
such a great competition.
thanks to team 341 for running a great competition, with no problems whatsoever. great job guys. and thanks for giving 1712 a robot to play with. i love the comraderie.
and thank you to 484, 1676, and 365 for being terrific alliance partners. didnt make one mistake out there. you guys were amazing.
Just a quick recap of the elims for us, the #5 seed.
first round versus #4 seed, 316, 1143, and 341 was a sweep in pretty intense matches. they sure put up a swell fight.
second round versus #1 seed, 173, 272(had been the 2nd seed), 716 was another sweep in two great matches. in the first match, 173 was going up for a cap on a side goal, and we tapped them onto the goal, and left them stuck. sorry guys, had to exploit the hole. second match was clean and just well played.
final round versus #3 seed, 222, 103, 99(103's backup robot), and 303. first match was very close. in the final 5 seconds we put a cap onto the corner goal of the field, while 222 was defending, which killed their row, and gave us another, giving us a clear 20 point win. second match was great. 303 came in for 99. it was just great. very close match, but ultimately, we outcapped them 13-9 and gave ourselves a clear victory.
6-0 through eliminations. not to brag, but the alliance we had made no mistakes, and capitalized on every fault another alliance made.
and a special congrats to team 1712, i love to see prerookies out there.
Thanks to all, was a fantastic day.
P.S. High Score of the day was 25, 484, and 272 versus 303, 365, 225. 101-28

Corey couldn't of said it better, it was a fantastic competition, It felt great to have our robot at a competition again. I had the most fun I've had in awhile and a lot of the Freshman/Rookies to robotics got a good feel for the competition and were giving back 100% positive feed back. The teams that won earned the title played very well and the final was evenly matched.
I had almost too much fun today, and I hope to see all who attended at Brunswick Eruption on 11/19

I'll have to agree with Corey & Conor and everyone else. Though I didn't show up til about 2:30, and I wasn't participating, it seemed like the whole event was pretty well run. I also liked the set-up right inside the door where you came in from outside, it was pretty cool. Congrats for running such a successful event! I had a lot of fun, and I hope to bring my team [1089] out next year.
Hats off to all the team members and volunteers for 341 and their sponsors for putting on a terrific off-season event yet again. Also, thanks to NASA and the ever present Mike Wade for the FIRST playing field.
MOE 365 would like to shout out thanks to Teams 25, 484, and 1676. What terrific teams to be with in an alliance. You guys demonstrated great teamwork, spirit, and competitiveness. What a wild ride! Thanks for picking us!
Thanks also to Kathie Kentfield for facilitating the NEMO session and to the adult mentors, who participated. I know that I gathered some nuggests of wisdom that I can take back to my team.
Great things about the event - music, video, team introductions, friendliness of all the volunteers, food prices, Vex driving area, canned food drive, space in the stands, 4 teams per alliance.
My only improvement area would be the crowdedness of the pits. Wearing my corporate hat, I am concerned about safety with all those robots in close proximity.
Miss Daisy. Congrats on another great Ramp Riot! Best of luck to all teams attending the Brunswick Eruption in a few weeks!
To All of the participating Ramp Riot Teams:
Thank you to all of the teams for your continued support of Ramp Riot!
Your Competitive Spirit, Support of Rookies and Volunteerism is what gives this event meaning.
We could not hold this event without a massive amount of help from the FIRST community of teams (that's you). :D
However, one very special person that deserves our thanks is Mike Wade from NASA GSFC. For the past four years he has been traveling up and down the East Coast supporting off-season events (RR, DoD, and NBE) by providing an entire playing field and his personal time.
I urge you to support Mike by doing two things.
1) First and most importantly send him a message. Not only does he like to hear from teams, but Mike can use your stories to help maintain his support from NASA. mwade@mscmail.gsfc.nasa.gov
2) Secondly, if your are going to the Brunswick Eruption or the Chesapeake Regional take a minute to thank him personally. This man works so hard for us!! He's a great guy and likes to know that this means something to you. :)
I'll write again later about results, improvements etc.
But for right now... I gotta get some sleep!! :ahh:

Hey, I must say that Ramp Riot was a great time all around! Thanks to 433, 1712, and 1113 for being our alliance partners! I would especially like to thank 341 for hosting the thing and giving 1712 a bot! They played great and I'm sure they'll do great this coming season. I even learned something new: how to take down a field! I'm really impressed with Mike and all he does for FIRST. Make sure to thank him and take him out to eat!

Hello Everybody!
I am a member of team 1712 and a first time poster.
I would like to thank all the members of team 341 again for letting us use one of their previous robots. If it wasn't for them, we wouldn't have been able to participate in Ramp Riot and have such a good time as we did.
Also thanks to Teams 306, 433 and 1113 for choosing us to be their alliance partners. This gave us some much needed experience and what to expect when it comes to actual competition time. It felt great to be a pre-rookie team and make it that far. Thank you all for making that possible.
Again, special thanks to Team 341 for hosting this event and their generousity in allowing us to compete. It was a great time meeting all these new people from different teams. Hope to see you all again soon!

Ramp Riot was great from the little bit of it I got to.
It was well run and very efficient.
Congratulations to all the winners. :D
Al Ostrow and his team hosted a terrific event - has anyone ever calculated the number of volunteer hours spent pulling off an off-season event? It must be huge! Thank you to all of you! I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Ramp Riot...
A big thanks to all the teams who sent mentors to the NEMO meeting - we probably could have exchanged ideas all afternoon if we'd been able to. I hope those of you who are withing reasonable driving distance will continue this discussion and schedule another mentor meeting sometime soon.
And a big thank you to RAGE for allowing me to hitchhike along with them. You will always be family to me and it was wonderful to be able to yell "Git 'R' Done!" with you guys again!
Best of luck to all of you in the coming season (we still have a few slots open for the UTC New England Regional so I hope to see some some PA/NJ/DE teams come up north! :) ).
Hey Teams:
If anyone has good pictures from Ramp Riot, could you share them on Delphi or send them to me at aostrow1@comcast.net ? There is a Ramp Riot Folder on Delphi for Pics under the offseason comps pic directory.
Thanks!
For your help!

I'd also like to express my thanks from team 1712. Of course, thanks so much team 341, especially Adam, Trevor, and the others who worked so hard to get our Daisy in competition state! Also thanks to our alliance partners 433 (yo Karen!), 306, and 1113; you guys were great!
In addition I'd like to give a shout out to teams 357, 365, and 103 for all their help! Respek!

A great comp, loads of fun. I usually don't like sitting in the stands at comps (I prefer to do some work or SOMETHING while I'm there), but I still had fun at this one, there were lots of interesting people I hadn't met yet.
And just so that you all know, that was my boa that got passed around to everyone at the comp :-p
I know someone has already asked for them, but I still haven't seen many pictures from the competition posted on here. Let's go, people!
I was stupid and forgot my camera back at Alicia's house that day otherwise I would have taken close to 300 pictures (that's what my camera's card can hold lol).
I'm especially looking for pictures from our paint fights, if anyone got any of those.
Please post them here on CD or send them along to jake.gallagher@gmail.com
Danke :D

awesome competition!
thanks to 306 (i loooove your hats) and good luck to 1712! (hey jon)
thanks to all the volunteers and mentors too!
oh, and could anyone with pictures email them to me too? (the.panda.empress@gmail.com)
Anyone have any videos of elimination rounds?
We actually film the field with 3 cameras that are fed back through a central switching station (errr... sports closet). So we have tape of cameras 1,2,and 3, plus a tape of the result of camera switching, which was up on the big screen.
We can try to put something together. But, we are at the NBC 10 Consumer EXPO this weekend. Just give us a little while because we have several major events in a row.
Thanks again for bringing your amazing team to Ramp Riot. You guys are always "gamers".
I just want to say THANK YOU SO MUCH to team 341 for all the help they gave our pre-rookie team (1712). We couldn't have participated in Ramp Riot without all of your support and generosity! :D
Also a huge thanks to teams 357, 103 and 365 for your support! :yikes:
