Hilarious Video: Vex Goes to The Mall...

Alright, last night our team was at our local mall with our FRC and Vex robots for their Westfield Works Wonder's night, when a "brilliant" idea struck us. Let's drive the Vex robot around the mall, and film it along the way. So off we went and filmed this funny video - Vex Goes to The Mall. :D

Another FIRST classic! I was especially fond of when Vex was relaxing in the chair and the whole radioshack segment, but the elevator part was funny too. :p Absolutely awesome video.

We used to demo our robot at the Brass Mill Mall since it's only 10 minutes away. We never drove it through the mall though.



I can't wait for the second part when Vex visits Victoria's Secret! :D

On second thought, that's a little preverted, I should have kept that to myself. :p



(P.S. You did notice that you spelled Victoria's Secret wrong in the credits? Secret is supposed to have only one "r" in it.)

To answer some questions: The video was filmed in the Meriden Westfield Shoppingtown Mall. The Brass Mill Mall and the West Farms Malls would have been a lot farther to get to for our team. Also, the song being playing in the video is Mr. Five by Five from Freeplay (www.freeplaymusic.com).

I still can't believe that the security guards didn't say anything to us at the mall while we were driving our robot around. They watched us drive the robot right on to the escalator, and they didn't do anything. I think they were confused at what three students (myself, Samm, and Amy) were doing with a robot and a video camera.

The people at RadioShack loved the robot though. The manager there loved the little Vex robot - so he went right along with our little video. We also made sure that our FIRST demonstration was right near RadioShack, because of the Vex robot.

There were a few other funny incidents that we didn't get on tape. One was when our the little Vex robot was just sitting there, and somehow, autonomous mode was triggered. The little ultrasonic sensor started to pan back and forth, trying to find a target. It found a target, and then started to go straight at a group of people standing near our table. Luckily turning the transmitter off kills the Vex robot during autonomous mode. :ahh:
